I purchased a AKC golden retriever from Jennifer Evans for $800.00 on April 30th, 2016. A deposit of $400.00 was sent three weeks prior to Jennifer Evans to hold our puppy as she required half down. When we arrived at Jennifer Evan's house to pick our puppy up we were met at the door with literally the puppy handed to us out the door. To my surpise, I realized after heading back home that we were not given the shot record from the vet or my dogs AKC paperwork.
I contacted Jennifer Evan's about my paperwork over the course of the last two years asking for them or helping retaining a copy of them. I was told she was out of town, she couldnt find them and her last excuse as of October 2017 was that she contacted AKC and left a message because she could not get a live person. About a year ago while trying to obtain my dogs papers, Jennifer sent me a message inquiring about a litter of puppies I had. I explained to Jennifer Evan's that this litter would not work for her because it was the sire from one of her litter's. Jennifer Evan's stated how I needed to register my puppies and if I needed any help to let her know.
Fast forward to the beginning of March 2018. I figured since Jennifer Evan's said she could not get through to AKC that I needed to email them and maybe get some insight. I contacted AKC via email and explained my situation, AKC stated I needed to go through the breeder to obtain a copy of my dogs papers. I once again contacted Jennifer Evan's and sent her a copy of the email I recieved from AKC stating I had to go through the breeder for my dogs papers. Jennifer Evan's responded to my email stating that I needed to pay her an additional $200.00 for breeding right. I explained to Jennifer that we had no contract, no did we get my dogs papers or vet records. I also informed Jennifer Evan's that I had every message saved between us. Jennifer Evanl's then changed the amount I owed her to $115.00. I asked Jennifer Evan's to please think about what she was doing and how wrong it was for her to charge me more money for the AKC paperwork that I already paid for and she changed it to "do you want your papers or not?" Jennifer Evan's then stated that she was charging $900.00 for AKC and I only paid $800.00. I screen shot her what she was asking for AKC papers at the time I got my dog and Jennifer Evan's retracted her statement.
I ended up paying the additional $115.00 to be done dealing with her but I have also filed a few complaints. I now have to pay late fee's to register my dog. I understand if she would have stated this in the beginning or had a contract written up for given me my papers with LIMITED marked on them but I did not recieve anything from Jennifer Evans. I feel what she did was completely wrong as a ethical breeder.
