Jelinek Construction and Concrete was sent a deposit of $9079 on Aug. 27, 2017 to do grading, topsoil, old concrete removal and pour a new driveway . He promised to start on 9/6/2017 but he delayed that date until 9/11/2017. He did not show up to do the work. He called and said he would start on 9/18/ 2017 but still did not start. After that he disappeared and did not return phone calls or text messages. We finally heard from him again and he promised to start on 9/25/2017 he delayed again until 9/28/2017. He did about and hours worth of work on 9/28/2017 and disappeared again. He does not answer his phone, return messages or texts. The weather has been good but Mr. Jelinek (owner) has not shown up to complete the work. It is Oct. and the chance to do this work is running out because of approaching winter. We want Mr. Jelinek to complete this work he contracted to do before the weather makes it impossible or return our deposit.
Jelinek Construction and Concrete Reviews
I sent a cashier's check for 50% of work to pour a concrete driveway and do
yard maintenance of property at 433 Madison Street in Winner, SD. The check
was deposited on 9/1/2017, and Brad Jelinek promised by phone to start on
9/6/2017 and finish the entire job within two weeks.
There were repeated delays with lack of justification and almost no communication.
By now, on 10/23/2107, the project has done no concrete work and only about 2.4 days
of work in about 50 days on the lot surrounding the garage and storage facility there.
Winter is approaching and it may soon be too late to pour concrete so that it will cure well
enough to be strong as a driveway. We are completely dissatisfied with this
contractor, in that no preparation has even been done for pouring the driveway.
We are concerned that Brad may have spent our deposit to finish other jobs and not have
money left to pay upon delivery of the concrete, which if it were true would be a
violation of South Dakota Law 44-9-13. There have been legal actions against his firm in
the last several years.
In respose to courteous texts for new start and completion dates, Brad Jelinek sent an angry
text message to my wife, saying no contractors would ever work for us again, including two
whom he alleges he contacted for references who told him not to
work for us, and that the two of them would not work again for us.
These are lies denied by both contractors, who are continuing to work for us.
