I was reviewing old reports in our firm just before I retired and came across the Kitsap murder case (2014). I remember there was a lot of stir about that case and that we had Judge Jeanette Dalton removed from the case by filing an affidavit of prejudice. At that time our firm couldn't say what we thought of her for our lawyers are bound by the WSBA guidelines about making public comment on judges. I wish that was not true, because there are some real criminals out there that call themselves judges and Jeanette Dalton is one of the worse. Now that I am retired I am no longer bound by those rules and want to tell the truth. I would never take a case before Dalton. I've seen her change her stance just by a lawyer winking at her. She has lied in court and sentenced innocent people to jail terms. She has no regard for the law. She thinks that she is above the law. She rules the roost in Kitsap County and everyone else has to follow what she says. She will tell other judges how to rule a case if she knows the people involved. It states in the records that she used some $50,000 of her own money to win the 2008 election-maybe so, but maybe not. I think she took money under the table for legal favors later. She is not to be trusted.
You have the right to request a different judge once in the case. Do it if you get Dalton or suffer the consequences. You must do it early before the court hearing.
