I recently hired a broker to find a transport company to deliver my 1956 CADILLAC Deville from NY to AR. This was around Christmas 2015. Broker contacted this outfit and after reading reviews, I agreed to pay $1050 total for the move. However, I first asked for contact info, DOT, and ins proof before I agreed to pay! And I'm glad I did. The broker sent contact info and I called "Davit" who answered my questions until I asked for his insurance carrier- he got very upset that I asked him that, although he did answer, and this being my first time doing this kind of transaction, I needed my car delivered- after I verified his info I agreed with my broker to schedule the pickup.
Jimmy was the driver who arrived in NY on 12/29/15 to get the car. In the terms of the contract it states:" #5:Transport hereby notifies shipper that their vehicle will be driven on and off the transporter, or to and from the transporter at the pickup or delivery site. Should the carrier be unable to access either site, this does not relieve the consignee from making a reasonable effort to meet the truck at a suitable location. If a vehicle is NOT operational and the carrier cannot physically reach the location, a local tow truck may be used to deliver vehicle to the assigned carrier at the expense of the shipper."
See wher it reads : DRIVE the vehicle on and off?? Ok, my guy in NY DROVE THE CAR UP THE RAMP OF THIS 3-car hauler trailer all the way up to the cab (facing forward). My guy took pictures of the whole thing as well. The driver called me asking that he wait till after the first to bring my car so he could spend the new year with family. I agreed.
1week went by, on 1/5/16 I call my broker to check in, broker calls driver jimmy, broker calls me back saying jimmy will call in a few minutes. And he did, but said he was in town 40 minutes away from me but he wouldn't arrive until 4 hours later. He also says I need to bring at least 3 gallons of gasoline to move my car-said its out of gas. He calls 3 hrs later and I drive to the yard only to notice my car is facing the opposite way than when loaded in NY. it's still on the trailer. I ask why is it facing opposite? Jimmy says that he "had to pick up cars for an auction". "Okay, so I guess you had to take my car off and reload it, why?" I ask. "Is this why the car is out of gas." "No," he says," we used a FORKLIFT to unload and load it it back on". Whaaaaaatttt?????? A forklift? Not cool!!! So, he's in aBIG HURRY TO GET PAID AND GET THE BILL OF LADING SIGNED(it also seves as an inspection form). So I'm looking around what I can see standing on the ground for damage, I ask him to unload before I sign so I can at least get close enough to see any damage, he refuses. Okay, I start to climb up on to the trailer and he stops me saying his insurance doesn't cover anyone else on the trailer, so I have to sign and pay this man and heREFUSES to let me inspect my car for damage. What choice do I have?
I sign and pay, he drives my car off the ramp, I recorded the whole thing and my wife took pics. I get in the car and find half of the gearshifter BROKEN AND LEFT ON THE BACK FLOORBOARD, 5 minutes later we get the car raised up in the garage only to notice THE BRAND NEW FUEL TANK HAS A FRESH GLOB OF JB WELD AND A NICE FORKLIFT SCRATCH IN THE CENTER. WHAT CROOKS!!!!!! No wonder it's out of gas- right?? And needed a few extra hours for the glob of JB weld to dry up right?? Makes sense now.
by this time Jimmy's gone and won't answer his phone, I call his company spoke to Davit but refused to give his name. He was definitely expecting my call... "What do you want?" I tried to speak about the damage but didn't get far... He lit into me.. Called me names, cussed me, "nothing you can do about it....." So I filed a claim with his ins company and am systematically intent on telling the world what they did to me. This site is only one of many more you will find my story on. I can't believe this happened, and they tried to cover it up and refused to let me inspect?? I'm happy to share the video and pictures with ANY DOUBTERS!!!!
