My husband purchased a JB Star engagement ring 15 years ago that was custom crafted by JB Star. The shank never adhered together properly after sizing but it was not too much of a bother. The base came off after 15 years, splitting my ring in two. Local reputable jewelers refused to touch it because they could not guarantee their work due to them believing the platinum showed signs of contamination when it was originally poured. Shipped the ring to JB Stat and they failed to take responsibility. They say that this happens all the time and it was up to me to take care of my ring. They felt it was unfair for me to ask them to take responsibility for their craftsmanship after 15 years. Yet, their website states that each piece is exquisitely hand made, with great craftsmanship and love and they guarantee their quality. JB Star should not be in the business of making wedding Rigs if it cannot last a long as the marriage. They now want $1800 to fix my ring -- otherwise it is a total loss.
