Jayco, Inc. Reviews

Everybody you speak to says their story about buying a jayco RV nightmare it's a nightmare that just keeps on giving and jayco gets away with building pieces of crap because there's no lemon law so they can sell you an $80,000 RV and you pull it off the lot and the axle breaks you're on your own this is why they build such pieces of crap as this lady whose husband has cancer this is what they did to him and they also did the same to me.

Jayco warranty is worthless. JAYCO WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS. They build a nice looking trailer with a lot of great amenities. They brag about their 2-year warranty. We have had furnace, water heater, fireplace, electrical, and slide issues. Warranty is only good if you can take it back to the dealer you bought it from. Other JAYCO dealers around the country want it to be left with them for what would be weeks or even months before they could 'get to it'. A corporate spokesman said that is how their "warranty service works". We could not take it back to the Texas dealer-Texas was on lockdown and we would have had to quarantine for 2 weeks and the dealer would have to have the trailer for two weeks without anyone going in or out before they could look at it. AND one of our slides would not retract so traveling with it partially extended did not seem an option. We had the work done by a local RV dealer who was not a Jayco dealer and submitted the bill to Jayco. They refused to reimburse us. My husband has lung disease (due to uranium exposure while working in the mines) and going to Texas from rural Oklahoma would be life-threatening because Texas is a hot spot for COVID. Jayco spokesperson said that is not something Jayco has any control over. So, just know, if you buy a Jayco (ours was a brand new luxury one and we paid cash) you are on your own if you need to have work done on it.

Do yourself a favor do not buy yourself an RV go on vacation and just rent a condo you'll save yourself a fortune because when you buy an RV what the unit cost you $68,000 you will guaranteed to put $80,000 in repairs and it within the first five years because they build them like crap knowing that they can get away with it (because there's no legal ramification against them) there are No lemon laws like with cars; if the car builder builds a lemon? And you are breaking down often? (they must buy it back) that is the law... but an RV does not have to answer to the lemon laws, so they build RVs like crap and just slap them together as fast as they can to make the most amount of profit that they can like my RV which was supposed to take 8 hours to build? lol... they built it in 3 hours and I have had nothing but nightmare after nightmare where the RV should have been driven to a junkyard and crushed before it was sold to the public and RV companies need to be held responsible for people that die on the roadways because RVs are built like such garbage and they have no safety standards so when you step on your break and you go off the mountain because the brakes failed that's because the American industry allows companies that build RVs to get away with murdering people. Jayco RVs are the biggest pieces of s**t that are built....

A typical Jayco travel trailer is built in 8 to 10 hours when they build them in 4 hours and you will have nothing but headaches with your RV if you buy a Jayco. My Jayco has had one breakdown after another and Jayco gives you a repair shop to go too and all the repair shop say to you is they do not deal with repairing jayco's because they are nightmares to repair because they're not manufactured in the proper fashion and they are pieces of crap.

They do not want to get involved with any repairs on them because they don't want to be held liable, so you buy a Jayco you are out of luck and it will fall apart I guarantee you this. You will not have anybody that wants to work on it because they said that it is built like a piece of crap. They use scrap parts from other RVs to make another RV so they do not lose their profits.

Jake owes a built like such crap that is why Jayco went bankrupt and Thor bought them out and they are still built like crap. If I was Jayco and I was a confident company that knows I sold a lemon to a customer? I would buy it back and give them a good RV that does not have breakdowns one after another and has issues to keep my companies name good with the public, but Jayco does not do that?

What they do is hang up the phone on you and told you we got your money and we do not give a crap and they hang up the phone on you. Be fore warned (we are getting a class action lawsuit against Jayco) and if you have issues with your Jayco RV which I can 100% guarantee you do? You need to sign the petition because we are going to sue this company for knowingly selling customers $40,000.00 to $117, 618.00 RVS that they know are in fit for people to live in while traveling.

Jayco is the worst RVs that are built and you will have a headache like I do because you cannot get these pieces of crap repaired? any place you go they will not repair them because the main RV shops state the manufacturing of Jayco Jay flight RVs know that they are built like s**t and they do not want to be liable for repairing it.

Since day one I've had issues with this RV and I try to get the sales shop where I bought it and Jayco to take it back and give me an RV that I paid for that was not built like crap and nobody would help me so once you buy a Jayco if the actual falls off while you pull out of the lot you're on your own Jayco will not help you.

So please anybody who has an issue with Jayco and I provided some of the links on the non-quality craftsmanship that Jayco provides below. please get in touch on this site and I will add your name to the class action lawsuit against Jayco they must be hell liable for the pieces of garbage that they build and sell to the consumers.

You will be sorry if you buy a Jayco; once they sell you the unit, they can care less what goes wrong with it. their 2-year warranty isn't worth toilet paper that you wipe your a*s with it, so just throw it away, because it means nothing.

I purchased a 2021 Jayco Jay Flight 174 from RV Connections Dothan AL the second week of September 2021 and immediately started having problems with the sensors (showing constant full state) in the black and gray holding tanks while transporting back to Georgia. I contacted RV Connections in Dothan AL and told them this but they were unhelpful. Jayco will not honor the warranty because they said it was a lack of maintenance on my part (note: I hadn't used the RV toliet at this point). I am expected, by Jayco, to use my out of pocket money for the repair.

The RV has been in the repair shop in Woodstock GA since Nov. 5, 2021 so I have used the trailer for a total of 2 weeks.

I was told when I bought my 2015 Jayco Jay flight 28 ft BHBE that it had a bumper to bumper 2-year guarantee? The warranties just a scam to get you to buy a Jayco RV; but I would give you wise advice; (do not buy a Jayco), (because you will be very sorry that you did). After I bought my unit for $32,000 the first time I went on an RV camping trip with my son's the slide out wasn't anchored on top and fell off of the RV and hit the ground. thank God none of my kids were outside when I put the slide out out, because they would probably would be dead?

My 2015 Jayco Jay flight has more camping time in the repair shop than it does at the camping ground. When I called Jayco manufacturing company in Indiana they just tell you what you want to hear, but they don't follow through on any of the repairs to get my Jayco lemon fixed. Jayco has been building such lemons for such a long time that they manufactured and they were going bankrupt so they sold out their garbage of a company to Thor and still they are built like Crap.

My unit has been nothing but a headache and the first 6 months I owned it; this is photos of what happened with the fake diamond plate that they put on the front of the RV behind the propane tanks. Look at the bottom picture (they give you almost an inch of fake diamond plate where they screw it and staple it into the bottom flooring but look at the top they don't even put a 0,02 of an inch not even a pubic hair worth a diamond plate underneath the front aluminum siding). All to save $0.25 worth of material they cut you short and I looked it up online all jayco's have the same problem that Jayco RVs will not address and fix because they just want the profits and they don't care about the customer.

I will not stop advertising about Jayco being a scam (A true RV lemon manufacturing company until they fix the problem that they knowingly made when they made my RV and will not address fixing because they wanted it to be my problem. I cannot even get anybody to fix it (not even Jayco) that tells you that they knowingly build pieces of crap. So if you're thinking of buying a Jayco? move on buy an airstream, at least airstreams don't have problems like jayco's do..... Also I had my RV detail today and the detailer told me you have a major bow in your siding by the bathroom door he said you need to have this checked out? it looks like it may be something major? $32,000 for the unit and another $6,000 in repairs and the money pit is going to cost me more now.....

  • Feb 2, 2021

Jayco sold me a lemon: my $32,000 RV purchase spends about 80% of its time in a repair shop. Jayco knowingly built my RV amongst many others with a problem that they knew about and continued building them without fixing the issue with the diamond plate peeling off. We all need to get together and file a class action lawsuit I am speaking to a attorney later on today. I brought my unit to the Jayco service center and No Jayco service center will fix the problem. This is unbelievable, we need to get in touch with the attorney general and file a class action lawsuit against this company for wrongfully building units that they knew where defective and not stable to be on the roadways.

Buying a Jayco Jay Flight bhbe Elite was the worst mistake I've ever made. it's costing me more repairs than the unit purchase price of $32,000 and this is how Jayco builds all of their RVs.

I bought this unit Brand new and it's just hitting its 5th Year birthday and it's been in the shop more than I've used it. The first time I put the slide out it almost hit the ground because they didn't even secure it and the whole thing almost ripped out my whole wall of my RV. I had to bring it back to the shop and they had to redo all of the oak trim around the slide out since it ripped it all out when the RV almost hit the ground. 1.5 months without my RV my kids were so disappointed.

Now I guess during the manufacturing they cut corners and didn't use the right size diamond plate in the front of the RV unit behind the propane tanks and it popped out and I can't get anybody to fix it so now every time it rains the water is going to rot the floor and the underbelly because the rain and all the matter gets into it scorpions snakes because it's not placed the proper way during the manufacturing. Another problem with these Jayco are they use Chinese made twine for the curtains privacy shades on the windows. When you pull down The Window Privacy curtains the first time when you just bought it they snap so you can't use the privacy curtains.

They will not go up or down they're permanently positioned in the downward position because the mechanism that makes it so they can push them up, does not work. photos provided on all the problems with this unit.

One of the main issues I have is I bought the upgraded couch which is supposed to be a leather couch? and it's some Chinese made copy that looks like leather but it's not. The first week we sat down on my couch the fake leather look alike is peeling off. The unit is beyond a LEMON.... And Jayco said they will not replace it? For Real? but if I want I can buy 2 back pillows? but it'll cost me $998.00? I mean for real?

I just spent $32,000 on this unit and you want me to spend an additional $998 for 2 back pillows because you sold me a lemon of a unit? This is a warning to anybody thinking about purchasing any Jayco product do yourself a favor don't they're only crap on wheels. Now if I owned this business? and I knew I did one of my customers wrong? I would fix all the problems and keep them happy so they'll come back and buy another unit? But not at Jayco? They just don't care once they get your money. You're on your own.

I bought a brand new Jayco Jay Flight 28bhbe because I didn't want to buy a used RV because I didn't want to deal with the problems? Well I bought a brand new Jayco Jay Flight 28' BHBE and I've had nothing but problems this RV is nothing more than a lemon. It was built taking every shortcut that could be possibly be taken, and now I have my diamond plate coming off my front of my RV because they skipped on material to tuck the diamond plate underneath the aluminum siding.

It is all about making a $1.00 or $2.00 more on their profits and they didn't properly glue it so now it's peeling off the RV and also my leather couch is peeling it was dry rotted from day one since I bought the RV and they will not give me a new back pillow they will only sell me a new one for $640. Do yourself a favor do not buy a Jayco RV you will regret it.

Bought brand New 2017 38BHDS camper, two weeks taking possession we found that the sliding door was installed improperly, brought to the deal is attention we both took measurements and pictures they were sent the Jayco, it took two weeks for them to say yes it is installed wrong. And then search a month for Jayco to send a new slider door to be installed by the dealer, after the door was installed it took another month to receive the trim to be installed around the door inside. On another trip I'll wear slider malfunction Taryn the floor and ruin in the carpets in the bedroom. The dealership figured out the slider was improperly designs so it had to be modified to work.

At this point we just wanted a different unit because of the issues from the manufacturer. But nobody would work with us not even the dealer, when they did repair the slide out they had to remove all the trim around the bed it took Jayco four tries to send the correct trim. In all total our camper sets at the dealership for more than 6 months as we made payments on it. The dealership was also fixing other trim throughout the camper that would just fall down when the camper was being towed behind our truck. We got our camper back finally talked it for 2 months on the Air Force Base we are stationed at we took it out for a trip and noticed the roof was picking up in the front of the camper when we would drive, we took photos brought it to the dealership again they took photos sent them to Jayco.

Jayco refused the claim saying it was cuts, the dealership and myself have talked to Jayco there are no Cuts they are tears from the wind Lifting Up on the Roof which tells me the roof was installed improperly. When I spoke with Jayco the rep was not very good at dealing with issues I asked for a supervisor and I was told they would call me back have not heard from them. So now I have to spend more money to fix or replace the roof that is a manufacturer's defect.

Jayco claims to have the best warranty on the market, but it appears they won't accept responsibility for what is clearly a manufacturing problem. I have a 2016 Greyhawk with less than 6,000 miles. My couch has developed 2 leaks that has caused extensive damage. They say the damage is caused by not preforming maintenance. If anyone has phone numbers or email addresses for officers of the company, please share that information. If I can't get a satisfactory resolution I'm thinking about attending RV shows and speaking to their prospective customers!

I purchased a new Jayco jayfeather in 2008. Almost immediately the rear plastic bumper cracked and the finish came off. I contacted Jayco and they replaced the bumper through their dealer. Within 6 months the bumper did the same thing. The cracking would start at the mounting holes and travel down the bumper.

It became so bad it was unsafe to pull down the road as it could fall off in front of traffic. I have since bought two new bumpers as replacements at about $500.00 each. Jayco refuses to acknowledge the poor engineering of their product. Building a replacement out of metal is not an option because of the shape and contour of the bumper. I will not buy another Jayco product.

Avoid buying and JAYCO trailer. They are put together like junk! After two years of owning our new Pinnacle it has spent over 175 days at Camping World. Both air conditioners went bad, two of the slide outs have broke, tires blew at 200 miles, thermostat bad 2x, molding pops off, toilet leaks and the list goes on and on! Camping World can't keep up with the repairs on Jaycos. They have a difficult time getting parts and often have to send a picture so Jayco can send the part. And beware of considering their trailers as a full-time home! This will void your warranty! I could never type all the horrible things we have dealt with purchasing a Jayco fifth wheel! Just go with a Keystone product and run from any Jayco product!

RE: 2016 Jayco Precept

Dear Mr. Johnson:

On May 28, 2016, we bought a 2016 31' Jayco Precept from Manteca Trailer and Motorhome, LLC, 204 Vasconcellos Avenue, Manteca, CA 95336. After a less than one day trip in the Precept, we were forced to return the coach to Manteca Trailer and Motorhome dealership. The following problems were identified:

Rear of motorhome (driver side) has separated from body by approximately 1 inch

Kitchen faucet mounted too close to wood cabinet, causing deep gouge in wood

Dinette table mounted on wall unstable, causing table and wall to pull away

Pullout pantry cabinet slams out while driving, and then drawers in cabinet also slam out

Pullout drawer under stove slams out while driving

Pullout drawer in bedroom slams out while driving

Driver side window does not close completely, creating a constant whistling noise

Driver side window, while closed, developed an extremely loud noise, at about a 90 db level, sounding like a loud leaf blower

Crackling noise, similar to sand hitting inside the wall, around exit door and transom window, continuous

Crackling noise, similar to sand hitting inside the wall, next to driver side window, appeared after approximately 100 miles of driving

Screen door does not open with entry door

Rubber molding around entry door separated and flying in the wind (only now partially attached)

Unable to code keyless entry lock

Wood fascia trim on side of slide detached

Missing LP plastic gauge on tank, unable to read tank level

Refrigerator continuously flashing error message, "LO dc"

Extremely difficult to open entry door using inside handle

Velcro cushions in dinette area do not adhere, constantly pulling away and slipping

110 volt at dashboard as well as USB ports inoperative

Completely inadequately labeled Fresh Water/City Water Fill inlets (2)

Completely confusing, inadequately labeled dials for setting fill options

Cabinet handles not level

2016 Precept Manual completely inadequate as form of reference – generic and does not apply to 2016 Precept

To further elaborate on the above list:

We noted at the time of purchase, that the placement of the sink faucet pressed up against the wood cabinet.

When the slider was opened, a wear pattern was created causing a groove in the wooden cabinet directly behind the faucet. We also noted that the wall on which the kitchen dinette table was attached, flexed with even the slightest pressure on the table. There had been a bead of silicone run along the table/wall, however, that had already given way and was no longer adherent. It was also an inadequate "fix" for this problem. The wall is not stable and cannot support the dinette table. It was also noted that numerous handles on the various wooden cabinets were not level. On our initial test drive at the dealership, the driver side window, although closed and locked, vibrated open slightly after driving a few miles, creating a whistling noise. The window was pulled closed and the lock again securely closed, only to have the whistle begin again after only a few miles. (This problem has continued constantly since the motorhome was picked up.) These problems were pointed out to the staff at Manteca Trailer and Motorhome. They agreed that all of the above were problematic and needed to be corrected, however, they recommended that we take the motorhome on our first trip to see if there were any other problems that might need to be addressed.

We picked up the motorhome on June 2, 2016, and brought it to our home in Brentwood before taking it to a gated storage facility in Brentwood, CA. When backing the Precept out of our driveway (completely unloaded), which has only a very slight decline, the left side of the motorhome touched the asphalt on the street causing a scrape on the Precept body. In reviewing the 2016 Precept Manual provided, there is no mention of a problem with backing-up or down on any level. Photo attached of the driveway.

When at the gated storage, we attempted numerous times to set the code on the keyless entry and were unable to program the keyless entry.

We took our first trip in our Jayco Precept on June 28, 2016, to Twin Lakes, California, a distance of approximately 199 miles. After we arrived at the campground, we had a very difficult time trying to ascertain which fill (upper or lower) was for the fresh water fill, due to inadequate labeling. Our previous Class C Freelander had identical fill ports, one for external water and one for tank fill. The two fills on the Jayco Precept are so ambiguously and inadequately labeled, that it was impossible to know which one to use to fill the fresh water tank. The Precept Manual was of no help. There was no diagram and the instructions very, very generic, absolutely not describing this particular motorhome. The instructions in Section 8 – Plumbing System, don't even have photos to describe how and where to fill the fresh water. In addition, the two separate "utility center valve" instructions in the Manual are vague and generic, again without one photo to show settings. The City Water Fill, City Water Tank Fill and Country Water Fill instructions on Section 8-12, 8-13, are generic and completely inadequate in describing the filling process. What does "place the utility center valves in the 'Normal' position" mean? How would we even know that "utility center valves" even are? One simple photo in the Manual would have been of enormous help.

In the process of trying to determine which fill port to use to fill the fresh water tank, we chose the lower fill inlet (which was the same one we used on our Freelander). We thought there was something wrong with the tank since it wasn't filling. Unbeknownst to us, it was filling up the black water tank – which was not properly identified. Why would a black water tank fill even be located in this area? It should be in the completely separate area where the black water and gray water valves are located. Again, nothing in the 2016 Precept Manual. After numerous trips in and out of the motorhome to check the level of the Fresh Water, it was noted that there was water flowing out of the bathroom. Upon opening the bathroom door, the toilet was overflowing. I stepped on the flush valve to empty it, and the black water shot up like a fountain, spraying black water all over.

In referring to your website online 2016 Precept Manual, which is slightly different from the generic manual provided with the coach, the wording is ambiguous and vague:

Page 97, Fresh Water Holding Tank:

There may be several ways to fill the fresh water tank depending on the model. For details of each method, refer to the Fresh Water Connections or the Utility Center (if so equipped) sections. There are plastic overflow tubes plumbed into the fresh water holding tank which allows water to flow out of the water tank (see City Water Fill). Occasionally, you may see water coming from the overflow tubes when the fresh water holding tank is filled. This is normal and can be a result of the recreation vehicle being parked on an incline, or the motion caused by starting or stopping during travel.

We bought a brand new 2009 Jayco Jayfeather Sport model 226 in 2010 and it had a 2 year warranty on the camper and a 12 year warranty on the roof. We de-winterized it in May this last spring 2015 and noticed both discoloration in the linoleum and soft flooring at the threshold of the entry door and in the bathroom standing area. We contacted the dealer we had bought it from and they made an appointment a month out. The appointment was quick and worthless. They took a look under the threshold to peek under the linoleum and said it is interior water damage; they deducted this because the outside walls showed no signs of delamination. The service people said they couldn't go on unless I wanted to pay for the repair. They told me to contact Jayco and see if they would do anything. I called and the only thing they did was tell me the warranty has expired and sent me a three sentence floor repair procedure (worthless).

Thinking I might still camp I delayed delving into my Jayco piece of camper until 4 days ago..... I removed the side panel on the tub, bathroom sink, countertop, bathroom cabinet, and toilet. I hooked the bathroom sink and drain back up to supply and drain lines. i filled the water tank and pressurized the whole camper after an hour; no leaks. I hooked up the city water connection to the hose and pressurized it again after running and stopping the whole water system and no leaks! I remove the linoleum and it is all too apparent that the leak is coming from the roof, down the rear wall of the camper. Hello this has a 12 year warranty on the roof but both the dealer and Jayco pass the buck and I am left with a camper that has a leaking roof with an unrepairable 5/8 " thick non insulated floor and no structural method of support. We have taken excellent care of this camper as the one before it; cleaning it immediatley after we used it for a total of 12 times an average of 2 days each outing! Jayco should have to buy this lemon back or take it to their factory to completely re-design and rebuild this Jayfeather Sport 226....
