Most PR companies are buit on BS and if you are working with a PR Co then you should expect to get ripped off to some degree, and maybe they overreach a bit , but with Jane Owen it is on another level of being conned.
JaneowenPR, is nothing but an office of interns working for free based on promises of celebs and connections but will deliver nothing but headaches, empty promises, steal your money and waste your time.
We need PR for a tech project , so she gives you a proposal of names of celebrities that she "supposedly works with" and how she has different packages but of course none of the packages really say what you will do but vaguely suggest access to all these celebrities that will go around meeting you and talking about your Co.
First of all she does not know 99% of the celebrities on her list and I bet each of their lawyers and PR people would sue her separately if they knew she was toting their name and claiming to represent them and offer their services.
We agreed for the top package of 15k and 5k a month.
This woman did less than nothing besides invite to a party that wasn’t hers and then never talk about the Co or mention it to anyone.
She was supposedly working on getting articles in all major media outlets and has connections with many real magazines, but couldn’t provide one email one phone call or one shred of proof she did anything.
After 6 weeks , she came up with one half assed press release that not just showed she had no clue what the Co does or is trying to achieve (she is completely technologically ignorant) but also but also was an embarrassment to her profession, and was written as if by a child that was left behind a few years.
After repeated attempts at trying to get her to do anything at all, we severed ties and requested a refund.
At this point she claimed she spent the money and didn’t have it. What she spent it on is a mystery as her employees are all young Hollywood hopefuls trying to break into the glamour of Hollywood and mistakenly think they will get anywhere by being her free labor. She has a few B rated Celebs that may say hello to her if she gives them free stuff which she tries to. Any Celeb that is desperate enough to go to an office just to get a free hat is probably not doing that well financially.
After crying that she has no money and to please please let her pay back slowly and not sue her, we agreed on a $3000 settlement at 300 a month. This was not about the money obviously but now a matter of respect and a matter of principle, we didn’t want someone walking around pocketing our money and smiling like we were some fools.
She missed the first payment after begging for this settlement and she apologized and cried and lied and did “PR” claiming she had this that and the other.
So we gave her a pass on the condition she sets her watch by the first every month and never have to deal with her again.
She misses the second payment, of course accounting didn’t even realize it because it wasn’t in the books, it wasn’t one day late, it was 8 days late. When confronted with another obvious egregious lie, her response was “my paypal hasn’t been working” It is one thing to lie but to treat people with disrespect like they are idiots is another story. Apparently someone hacked Paypal and the hack was only effective in compromising her account, and she didn’t want to let us know she will be late again, because maybe her email was compromised by the same hack.
JaneowenPR is another PR co that all they do is talk! They will make promises they cant keep, and make deals they have no intention of sticking do. But what do you expect its all just PR
