I went to see Dr. James De Leonardis, Dentist in Oceanside, NY, for a simple checkup. I had something that looked like a cavity in my back tooth that i wanted him to take a look at.
After literally 30 seconds of opening my mouth he started telling me how bad my teeth were and started suggesting root canals and other expensive procedures i honestly didn't think i needed. My teeth weren't neccessrily hurting. I just wanted to make sure i didn't have any serious cavities.
To me he sounded like any other scammy dentist who tries to suck as much money out of you as possible by giving you false recommondations.
My suspiciouns were confirmed when i went to another dentist who took x-rays and told me my teeth were fine. He said I had something that looked like a minor cavity but recommonded not to do anything yet about it because it could have been just discoloration or shading of the tooth. He said if it starts hurting to come back and see him.
So why did Dr. James De Leonardis give me the run around? I was honestly schocked when the second dentist told me everything was fine. I would have spent thousands of dollars with the scam artist Dr. Leonardis if i had listened to him. The funny thing is the "doctor" told me to get all of these procedures without even taking a single xray!
He is defintely one of those dentists you stay away from in Oceanside.
I was visiting my family and friends over the weekend and my family member used their services. The treatment was done by Dr. James Leonardis and everything seemed fine until a week later. My friend developed abcess which turned out was due to an inapproriate treatment as concluded by another doctor. I mention another doctor because my relative was unable to have it rectified with Dr. Leonardis.
