I had my taxes prepared at the jackson hewitt in griffin ga. They charged 536 for both my federal and state. After weeks went by, I checked the status of my state refund and they had no information on me at all. I called the JH office and was told that they were very sorry that somehow my state return was overlooked. After months went by, I called the Ga Dept of revenue again about my refund. I was told it would take another 3 to 4 weeks because JH gave no direct deposit info so I would have to receive a paper check. I called the corporate number to complain at. 800-234-1040. They put me in touch with Sarah in Union Springs Ga who is apparently over the griffin branch. She was extremely rude and nasty and told me that JH does not offer a refund of any tax prep fees and that I could have 20.00 off of next year's return. She went on to say that apparently the tax preparer who did my taxes "didn't know what she was doing" but that it wasn't "her problem she dropped the ball." I spoke with her several times and she was nasty and unprofessional each time. They then offered 32.00 refund after saying JH doesn't offer refunds and I declined the offer. It is now mid April and I still have no state refund.
Jackson. Hewitt is a offering a refund advance of $1300 that they will place on an American Express Serve card. What they do not tell you is the serve card has a collective limit of $1000, and if you get the bonus of $50 the you are going to receive a check that they will not allow you to cancel no matter how hard you try. The scam is they want you to have to get that check so that they can collect the interest for the time it takes you to receive the check
I Filed with Jackson Hewitt for two years, the first year in California, no problems. The second year I received a Federal Return Check but no State Return check in New Mexico, and my Jackson Hewitt records indicated I cashed my State Return check at a Jackson Hewitt in Denver. I've never been to Denver. I from the dirt poor Navajo Nation and live with no assisstance of any kind except my own earned income. I worked hard to find that money only to get no emails or phone calls returned from the company. Shame on them.
