Hired this block-wall mason, Israel Diaz, through his Craigslist ad that looks legit and says he is licensed, but he is not. He lied about many things, as did his wife who runs his business affairs. He ripped us off as well as several others in the San Diego area (I have a list of people with the exact same complaints, made via Craigslist). They collect money from customers in advance, then do not complete the work that you paid for. They also said that they submitted the permit-plans and got a permit from the City of San Diego, but they did not! They wrote a bogus check to the City that bounced, and the City has not been able to collect from them either! And they showed me a small photo on their cellphone of the so-called permit, which turned out to not have been completed because they never returned to the City with the appropriate info. They went ahead with work that was supposed to be inspected & permitted, and told me the inspector actually approved the first stage of the wall-building, but that was another lie. No inspectors were assigned. And they did not build it to code, so I ultimately had to have someone else re-do the work. They also, without permission, picked up materials that I ordered for the job and had held at Home Depot, and they did not bring the materials to my house, they stole them and used them on another job or (?). They continued to just provide enough work off and on ( a few hours spread over weeks) to keep us on the hook and paying-in-advance for work they kept promising to do the next day; but would not show up when promised, and then asked us to pay their workers each day. All in all they act very sincere and give you sob stories and make you feel sorry for them, while they take your money, lie about their lisences and permits and inspections, and do not deliver. Again, we were not the only ones ripped off. Do not let yourself be another victim-- do not use this landscape company or mason for any wall-building, chimneys, patios, etc.
