On August 30th of 2016 we woke up to a flooded Master bathroom and bedroom and clear out to our kitchen on the side of the house where our hot water tank had broken. We had to have a plumber come out to the house, and a restoration company to do clean up and dry out. After waiting a long time we finally received a check from our Home Owners Insurance.
While waiting we got 3 or 4 estimates for the work that needed to be done. Kitchen and Master bath were the worse and since we got just about enough for them to be fixed we went with the guy with the lower estimate.
Irving Lopez from ISL Services, LLC, had been to our house a few times, seemed like a very nice man, even did a few small jobs at our manufactured home.... replaces 3 bent poles on our carport, also fixed a leak under kitchen sink, and didnt charge us for the sink, being soon to be repace.
When we finally received the check and it cleared the bank we notified Irving Lopez, he came over and measured the kitchen again explained how we could cut some corners to have enough money. He came back later in the day witch was on March 20th with drawings for the cabinets from a cabinet place in West Palm Beach, and samples of the white cabinets I wanted and different sample pieces for counter tops, he said since I wanted basic white cabinets, I didnt need to go pick them out since we had the samples in frount of us. He explaned to my husband that he would need $14,200 for the cabinets, vanities in our bathroom and counter tops sinks and plumbing supplies for both the kitchen and bath. My husband wrote him a check for that amount. He also asked for 900 dollars in cash for his labor, that he needed for his grandmothers funeral or tombstone, and my husband felt bad and gave him the cash.
On the 29th of March he texted my husband early in the morning to let him know that the check had finally cleared his bank at Wells Fargo, and he was headed to the cabinet place to pay for the cabinets. A few days had gone by and we hadnt heard from him again, Left several messages, phone and text...no reply. We went to the address after a little over a week had gone by, and his girl friend answered the door and said he had some family issues and she would make sure when she heard from him, she would have him call, another week went by still no call, so I called the cabinet company on the drawings, the Man, George, said that Lopez had been there and he did him a favor and drew the plans, but he never came back to pay for the cabinets. We contacted the police on April 4th who informed us there was nothing they could do, it would be a civil matter. We tried calling him from different numbers, left several messages and could not get a reply.
Finally we contacted an attorney who was a friend of the family and although he wasnt that type of an attorney he would call and leave a message to maybe get him to answer, and gave us the name of an attorney who could help us with the matter. I also sent Irving another message saying I wanted our money back and I was contacting a attorney. He called my husband told him his phone was broke and he had family issues he needed to take care of. He also told him that he ordered the cabinets in Miami because it was a better deal, and that they would be done around the 15th of April. A few days before that my husband txt him to ask him if we should start tearing out the cabinets and vanities and he said yes and said cabinets would be done on the 15th.
My kitchen and bathroom are completely stripped, we left the sink cabinet...thank God, so we would have water in the kitchen till he came with the new cabinets, but once again no reply from any calls since the 16th, we have been past his apt where the girl friend had spoke to us before and no one has been there and none of his vehicles are there anymore.
I realize that maybe it has not been that long, but this man has a little over 15,000 of our insurance money, and will not answer a phone or text message. I have been in tears, and now have turned to anger!!
