On March 9th, 2017 my son and I went to meet "Lord" a 14 week old French Bulldog Pup that we were purchasing from Irina Deresh, DMD after weeks of texting back and forth. After looking online for a French bulldog breeder Irina Deresh came up a few times so I went on her site Frenchie.homestead.com and emailed her about a puppy. She called me back (the only voice contact we had at all) and gave me very little information but told me that me and my family could come see the puppies. She did ask me if I wanted a male or female and I said male. She said that all the puppies on her website were already sold but had one left "Lord", however he wasn't on the website. So I called and asked her if she could send me a picture and 2 weeks later after numerous texts she finally sent us a picture and we fell in love! This started a plethora of text messages, asking when we could come see Lord and she had an excuse every time )she was in Florida, she was staying longer, she got the flu, she was in Washington because she hadn't seen cherry trees in a long time).
I kept asking her who was watching the puppy while she was away and if we could go see him. She said her parents were and they would not let anyone see the puppy without Irina being there. Understood, I guess. She finally got home and we set up a time to see the puppy yesterday. So she gave me the address and me and my son drove to Brookline from Marshfield at 4pm to see the puppy. We got there and it was a dentist's office. (Irina Deresh, DMD). I thought that was extremely odd, but went in to the lobby, knocked on the door and a young woman poked her head out and asked what we wanted??? We said we were there to see the puppy and had an appointment with Irina (who by the way, never gave me a last name or told me she was a dentist). She let us in, and the smell of urine and feces were so overwhelming I was nauseous. This young woman went through a door and spoke to Irina (they were speaking Russian so we couldn't understand them), when she came out she went behind a stand up/portable wall (not sure what it's called) and brought out 2 puppies. One of the puppies which I knew was "Lord" from the picture she sent me via text was placed down by this woman and he literally fell over (3 times!!!!!). I immediately picked up this beautiful little puppy while the other puppy just kept nipping at us. Let me mention there was an elderly woman in this waiting area (with a mouthful of gauze, holding her cheek) and my son and I were just looking at eachother stunned. After 20 minutes, Irina came out of a room in a white jacket with blood on her jacket, she never introduced herself to us, never asked us our names, just sat in a chair and said "Whch one do you want?". I said, you told me there was only one left which was "Lord" and that was the one we wanted. I proceeded to ask her questions about her process as far as purchasing the puppy, who her Vet was, if the puppy was up to date with shots, if he was health tested, if they were registered with the AKC, if we could see the parents of the puppy, how old he was, what his birthday was, how many puppies came out of this litter, how many times the mom had delivered among a few other questions. She could not answer any of them. She just kept saying "do you want the pup or not? of course he's registered, the mom is at home, the vet is in West Roxbury). She was extremely evasive. She seemed extremely annoyed that we were there, rolled her eyes at us, sighed, never once even looking or touching the puppies herself. As I mentioned, this is inside of a Dentist's Office. The puppies had pee'd several times on the floor and no one cleaned it up So I asked to use the bathroom, got paper towels and cleaned it myself because the puppies kept walking through it. She said that she didn't have any paper work for the puppy because "Americans and the AKC are stupid" YES, she used those words, and that she is still waiting on the paperwork and when she got them, I would get them. I asked her if I could giver her a deposit and come back with my husband to pick the puppy up over the weekend. I didn't think we would be taking the puppy home yesterday and were not prepared - she got upset with us but agreed to a $500 deposit for the $2500 puppy. She actually asked me if I wanted a contract???? I said of course I do - at which point she printed out this generic contract with a date of August, only giving me 5 days to have the puppy seen by a Veterinarian when she originally said 10, and that she would NOT be responsible for any Vet costs. When I mentioned the mistakes, she grabbed the contract, scribbled out August and wrots "3" for the date. I signed it (I don't know why, I felt so bad for the puppy) and gave her a $500 check. She never asked me or my son our name, where we lived, or anything about us at all, she truly didn't care who we were. My son and I walked out of the door and said that was the craziest expereince I have ever gone through. At that point, we called my daughter at college, she researched Irina and the complaints and lawsuits flooded the internet and I was hearbroken. I got home to Marshfield, immediately called my bank and cancelled the check. I don't understand how these breeders are not put in jail, I don't understand how a dental practice is allowed to practice medicine in conditions as I witnessed yesterday. Some of the complaints online about this woman were horrifying - that her puppies don't live long, one person's pup died 3 months after purchase, others all had some kind of surgery or another and spent thousands and thousands of dollars in healthcare on thier puppies. It is the saddest thing I have every heard. I think someone needs to expose this woman and put her dental practice and Breeding (or puppy mill) out of business.
