In October 2013, I forwarded to Mr. Ikrimah Assunni (born as 'Peter Jarrett' from Montego Bay, Jamaica, when I attended the University of the West Indies with him in the '80s, and before his move to Singapore and his conversion to Islam and resultant change of name), the amount of US$8,250.00 as an investment.
We had been in touch for years but since 2010 he began pitching investment opportunities to me. When I would tell him that I did not have that amount of money, he would try to persuade me to ask my friends to partner with him.
After several years of not finding fertile ground with me, he finally found traction when he said I could partner with him in a rice project if I contributed a quarter or a half of the money for a shipment. He said this was his personal project which he had been doing for years and that I would receive a return on my investment every quarter, starting December 2013. The agreement was that he would return the principal at any time that I requested it or whenever I wanted to end the arrangement.
At the end of December 2013, I had received no return and I had heard nothing from him. After several attempts at contacting him, I finally got a return in January 2014.
This would turn out to be the first and last time I would receive any return on my $8,250. Mr. Ikrimah Assunni (Peter Jarrett) disappeared from my life and would not respond to my emails or phone calls. Note that this was someone who used to call me for years when I did not even remember that he existed and would stay on the phone for hours, no matter how tired I was; if the call got cut off, he would merely call again. He was also very consistent in sending emails, emphasizing that he merely wanted to ensure that as a single mother I was doing well, as I had been so good to him while at university. These calls and emails were of a friendly nature (until 2010 when he first mentioned investments). This was one of the reasons he gave for the investment proposal he pitched to me: wanting to ensure that I had another source of income as he was so concerned about my well-being since he knew that I was not in a high-paying job and was a single mother.
For two (2) years (2014 to 2016), I heard nothing from Mr. Assunni (Peter Jarrett) until I wrote him in late 2016, again requesting the return of my principal ($8,250) and he responded, admitting that he owed the money, but not committing to any repayment or a repayment schedule.
Mr. Ikrimah Assunni (Peter Jarrett) owns his own company (ikrimahplc.co), which he has boasted is very successful, and he has also boasted that his Asian wife is a school professor and his two children attend excellent schools. If he were even repaying $500 per month, he could have repayed his debt by now. I do realize that this man is a scammer using the religion of Islam as a crutch.
I have since discovered that I am not the only person Mr. Ikrimah Assunni (Peter Jarrett) has scammed or has tried to scam.
