I purchased an iGPS watch in hopes of being able to track the whereabouts of my child and to have seamless 2-way communication (messaging and calls) with her throughout the day. The iGPS Wizard watch promised just that - real time GPS tracking, two way voice calling, voice messaging and SMS text messaging to name of few of the features I was most attracted to. I received the iGPS Wizard watch on Monday, 1/22/18 and set it up immediately. The set up was rather simple, which I was pleased with. I downloaded the app to my iPhone and started exploring the features on the watch. I quickly discovered there were numerous issues with the features/services the company claimed the watch would be able to perform.
1. SMS text messaging was an inaccurate description of this capability. The watch can send a sticker (or emoji, if you will) to my iPhone - but it doesn't allow the child to text any content/words. Additionally, the "text" shows up as a notification in the app on my iPhone, not as an SMS text message. False advertising.
2. Voice Messaging is a feature that doesn't exist currently, despite being listed as one of the differentiating features on their company website (https://igpswatch.com/#). I called tech support the next day to see if I was doing something wrong. The Technical Support representative let me know the feature has not yet been fully developed. While I was on the phone he confirmed with the development team that they are on track for this feature to be completed by the end of next week, at which point it will be submitted to Apple and GooglePlay for review/approval (which can take weeks from that point). False advertising.
3. The battery life on the watch is 30-60 minutes maximum, and I'm not exaggerating. Tuesday morning the watch was fully charged at 100% and died in my child's hand less than 30 minutes later and she hadn't even used it to make a call/send a sticker. I tried again - charged it Tuesday night, it was fully charged at 100% the next morning and died less than 20 minutes later after zero activity (I left it on the counter untouched to see what would happen). Poor quality.
4. Phone call quality is awful. Me and my family members tried calling the watch numerous times from different phone numbers and at different locations - every time the adult calling the watch received a terrible echo that was so distracting to the call they were unable to have a conversation. Poor quality.
I called iGPS watch 3 times before receiving a call back from Mark Kalinowski, who identified himself as the Manager of the Billing Department. I explained my frustrations with the company's misrepresentation of the iGPS Wizard watch and expressed that I wanted to return the product for a full refund since the watch is unable to perform to the promises/claims stated on their website. He said that was not possible.
I asked Mark to put himself in my shoes - that he purchases a product but finds that when he receives the product it's nothing like what the company claimed it would be. He didn't care. I told Mark that I'm really just looking for us to solve this issue in a respectful and professional way. He reiterated that per policy he won't (not can't) do anything to help. I verbatim asked him at this point "to clarify, it sounds like you are unwilling to work with me in any fashion to help resolve this issue, am I understanding this correctly?" His reply was "yes."
This the worse company I have ever had business deals. The device was malfunctioning and I tried to cancel the service within the 14 days trial period. They asked me to let them repair it and they will give me 14 more days to test it. I shipped it back to them (I had to pay for shipment) and they did not repair it. I talked with John (support) and ask him to cancel the service and get a refund (they already had the device in their warehouse). He said that he cannot issue a refund because it is over the 14 days trial period!... He was the one that asked me to send it for repairs and he was the one that told me they will give me 14 more days to test it. DO NOT get this phone. FYI: The issue with the phone was the battery (only lasted 2 hours) and it reported the wrong location (by 30 miles!)
This company is horrible! First they advertised a "sale" for an electronic tracking device for children. We purchased three at a total price of $169 with a $15 additional month-to-month service fee for each watch. We wanted them for our upcoming trip to Disney World. The watches arrived quickly and we did not activate them until we needed them. At that time it was discovered that the watches were extremely small. They were for toddlers. My husband called and the company was initially very helpful. They offered to "swap" the watches for bigger ones that would fit our school aged children. They even mailed them directly to our resort in Orlando. All was good for a while.
Our next credit card billing statement indicated another charge of 189.00 from this company without a refund for the returned watches. When we called to inquire, we were informed the larger watches were $120 each, were not on sale like the smaller ones, and we would not receive a refund. So we had actually paid $360 for three watches that were supposed to be just "bigger" for older children. When we swapped them out, we were lead to believe there would be an initial charge of $189 for the new watches, with a refund of $169 once the smaller watches were received back at IGPS. Our new watches arrived on July 8 and the smaller ones were received by IGPS on July 10. We were told there will be no refund.
Additionally, because of the swap, we paid for 1 month of service charge for the entire month of July even though we didn't have the new watches unit July 8. Since July 8 was the start date of our second set, we were under the impression we needed to cancel our month to month service prior to August 8. However, that was also incorrect. (Communication is not a strong point of this company). Service for any portion of the month is billed for an entire month. So we paid for All of July and ALL of August even though our service was actually just 30 days from July 8 To August 7. There will be no refund.
In addition, the company began to auto-bill for monthly service. We were charged $47.85 (for three watches) three months in a row. In addition to an extra charge of $39.99. The company did admit that error and finally refunded 2 payments of $47.85. However, finally getting them to understand their error was beyond ridiculous. Their customer service is horrible. The "customer service reps" are rude and condescending. One rep told me to "be quiet and listen", which I was happy to do, except that he had not first listened to me explain the problem and he had NO IDEA that we were being auto-billed and was not willing to listen to me. Instead he just said to be quiet and listed to him talk. It was only on the 3rd call that someone was able to intelligently identify and explain their error.
In the end, we spent a total $445.98 (after the refund of $95.70) for three watches that were activated for 30 days. When the initial watches, with 1 month of service was supposed to be 196.95. That's an unacceptable hit to a vacation budget.
The problems with this company are many and our experience was unacceptable. At the very least we should be refunded for another month of service, but ideally we need to see a refund of the initial $169 for the first set of watches that was returned. This is a classic case of "bait and switch".
STAY AWAY from this company. It's just not worth the headache.
They sent me the GPS watch already activated but unfortunately it will not work here so not only did they not refund the monthly service fee I also lost the activation fee and shipping charges, too.
Their tech support is one individual and hasn't a clue how to troubleshoot. They do not track individual customer issues so every phone is like calling for the first time. Every time I called they took my name and number and I waited for a call back. Once I waited 3 days.
The warranty is only 14 days so if there's any issues getting the phone to work and you don't return it within 14 days they said it isn't covered. The original invoice was $117.84 so I lost $54.79. If this company doesn't make some serious changes they won't last and people will be stuck with a GPS watch and no service.
There should be no star for them. There service sucks and there employees are very rude. I would never recommend anyone to use there service. If you have an issue they will always make you wait one day before you get a call back. The people answering the phone knows nothing.
This company has very bad customer service, i called a number of times to voice my issue to no advail . i would not recommend this product , it have a bad batterie life due to gps tracker and its made for kids, it should be able to be worn while they are playing. i had two of them go dead after a short time. my main issue is customer service , when i asked to close my account and return the monthly fee, i could not get a answer. i would look else where for this type of product.
