I was accused of fraud over a receipt for baby wipes for a 25 cent rebate. This receipt still hangs on my fridge. It is my purchase & I bought that item! My account was deactivated with a vague copy & paste email. Buyers beware!
This is the email that I sent to Ibotta after receiving the "your account has been deactivated" email from Ibotta:
Feb 15, 17:24 MST
To Whom it may concern.
After receiving the email stating that my account was deactivated, I asked myself what I had done to deserve this drastic measure. I could not figure it out. I told my brother about it today and he told me he had submitted a Ibotta claim from my house on Sunday. Based on this I have figured out what happened.
I invited my brother and his wife over for a BBQ on Sunday evening. Apparently he had purchased some beer and other items for the BBQ along with some items for his personnel use. He brought the beer and some other items (for the BBQ) to my house and submitted his claim from my house. He left the receipt and the beer packaging on my kitchen table and went out to the backyard to talk with my wife. I arrived a little after he did and saw the beer container and receipt on the table and assumed that my wife had left it for me so I could submit it to Ibotta. I then also submitted the same receipt, which I would not have done if I had known that he had already submitted it.
I really like and use the Ibotta app and hope that you can activate my account again.
Thank you for reading through my verbose explanation and look forward to hearing your response.
I had over $85 dollars in my account and received none of it.

Account Review Team (Ibotta)

Hi XXX,
I am writing to you from Ibotta’s Account Review Team. We have completed the review of your account. Based on our review, we have chosen to permanently deactivate your account.
We verified that you have submitted receipts that were first submitted by another user. Per Ibotta's terms of use, Section 10.3 users may not upload receipts to Ibotta that have already been uploaded by you or another user (regardless of the rebates being redeemed by each user).
Due to the nature of our business, we reserve the right to suspend accounts either temporarily or permanently if users violate any section of our Terms of Use.
IBotta has a sign up bonus of $20 if you buy so much within 14 days. I met the goal. iBotta CHANGED my account name and deactivated my original account so iBotta could keep the money.
This case is a possible class action suit against Ibotta, Inc. this company has scammed me and took rewards from me over the last three months. they do not have a contact number only a email address. I have emailed this company various times.
they have made up reasons to take money that I have earned and reversed the amounts. the have lied like I have scanned receipts multiple times which I have not. they have lied and said I have redeem the same cashback reward multiple times on one receipt and I have not. I have emailed them over and over about the issue.
they have locked my account saying that I have suspicious activity on my account... I did not. then the reactivated my account and then said that in may of this year I double scanned a receipt. all of this is false claims by this scam company and I do not know why they want to continue to scam their customers.
something needs to be done about the company. they cannot continue to take our cashback rewards and get away with it. it looks like they have been doing this to customers for a while. other people may have let it slide and just closed their account but not me. I work for my money and im a single mother of 2. im not going to lay down and take this abuse and scam from them. they stole and scammed the wrong customer.
This association also queries other accounts associated to company returns. They say its private disclosure but as a third-party influence they shouldnt inquire about the purchasers banking information/returns. People "i.e., customers) buy and return items all day and night.
So after 48 hours the deal is basically thought to be "time period trial over." What does that mean? That means after 48 hours ibotta or a third-party retail can inquire bank information without the consent and approval of credit worthy indoviduals banking excellent credit scores. So thats a ibotta cursor to "meeting," a "lock account."
They respond to slow and they jeopordize peoples potential by invading information to forge for there own strategies to empower and create a richer internet app intelligence.
At the time of the writing another cash app will be create and more accounts will be locked and....
I am available to spin this report 360 if my iBotta account earnings are not withheld and the chas returns are granted to me otherwise I made the first and last move to slef-forge the ibotta "vote."
Attempted to reset my password after my husband logged my account out to use his and i forgot it. Received email that states they deactivated my account and to contact for information. A week later and no response. Appears they've taken my $100+ and run
I have been using Ibotta for several years. In the past, I always "cashed out" when I had earned $50.00 and received a gift card. This year since it is near the holidays I decided to save up my rebates for this Christmas Season. I had managed to save $202.00 and was in line trying to cash out for a gift card. I had never had a problem before so I just figured I had put in the wrong password and my account was locked. I submitted an email asking if they could unlock my account ( there is no other way to contact them) I received a reply that it would take 48 hours for a representative to contact me so I waited. After 72 hours I received an email stating my account was being deactivated due to violating at least one of the following: Sending invalid receipts. Associating a unique mobile device with more than two Ibotta user accounts. Associating an excessive number of mobile devices with a single user account. I had done no such thing. I started reading other reviews and this seems to be a common thing they do when you get a substantial amount of funds to cash out. I am mad! I spent extra money on products that I may not have bought, spent time uploading receipts and was looking forward to having some extra spending money this Christmas. It was a total waste of my time and the company needs to be ashamed scamming people like this.
I used Ibotta for the first time on 2016 . I had accumulated about 40 dollars. I had difficulties getting the cash so I sent them a few messages. When I finally got a response, they said that my account was deactivated because I submitted a fake receipt from a liquor store. It was missing some information they said. Well, that's the receipt they gave me at the liquor store. They also said I registered with more than one email. I wasn't good at using the app so I forgot which email I used and registered again. I only used one email to get my rebates. Now we, me and my, are using the app with his email. The first 20 dollars I decided to get a Walmart gift card I thought it might be harder for them to keep my money. I was happy when I was able to use the first money ever I got from them. Then I redeemed 25 dollars. Went to Walmart, the gift card had zero balance. I didn't use it so there is no way to have zero balance.
Ibotta says they could not read my receipt and have no way to send it to them except via your smart phone. They say they couldn't read it and I sent it to the 5 times, then I get---

Hi Edward,
I am writing to you from Ibotta’s Account Review Team. Upon completion of the review, we have determined that a substantial amount of rebate credit was earned outside of our Terms of Use. Unfortunately, the account will remain suspended indefinitely. However, we do see that some of the balance was redeemed in accordance with our Terms of Use.
I am writing to warn you all about Ibotta.I had a problem with them not reading my receipts and not giving me the proper credits.I emailed them to report the problem after many failed attempts they emailed me that they were deactivating my account for Fraud. Are you kidding me I contact you for help and thats the thanks I get.I tried to plead with them to keep my account open and they said they were deactivating my account indefinitly.I am here to warn all of you not to trust them they can close you're account and keep you're money. What a terible company i bought all this crap I didnt need just for the rebates and now I am out of the money.
After getting past the $20 threshold to cash out I went to transfer it to PayPal and it said my account was locked and to contact tech support, when I did they replied that their automated system flagged my account! This is code for were ripping you off, even though I bought the proper items for the rebates!
Ibotta makes it almost impossible to contact when you have a problem. The number they provide is a corporate number meant for other business that want to become apart of their company. They offer a "submit claim" option on there site and it does absolutely nothing. Nobody ever responds to you and you could be waiting for hours, which nobody wants to do and ends up leaving the convo. No where in the "help" section does it help you with lost funds. I signed into my account and all my funds were gone. There was no explanation or reason why it was all gone. All my activity was erased as well. There is no where on there site that has options for users that encounter this problem. I've submitted more than one claim and haven't heard from them at all. I guess I'm SOL and won't be getting any of the money back that I've worked hard for.
Ibotta deactivated me for shopping at walmart too much even though I shop there 3x A week sometimes you can tell receipts have different item's they told me my receipt's were duplicate I have dealt with these types of companies before. Even getting your account back will cause nothing but drama and stress from the company. I'm not even going to bother with Ibotta on this.
I have dealt with companies like this the other was A survey site called instagc who banned me claiming I wasn't putting my real name on survey's when in fact they banned me because I alerted them to A malware download on their site. I am to the point I am cutting out online services that cause me too much undue stress Ibotta is 1 of them.
My phone was broken and I simply wanted to update my new number and correct PayPal information. I was sent an email containing this list telling me my account was permanently deactivated
"Submitting invalid receipts."
if it was an invalid receipt , why was it processed?
"Associating a unique mobile device with more than two Ibotta user accounts. "
My number is not associated with more than one account. if it was,why was i not emailed in the same way when a password is changed?
"Associating an excessive number of mobile devices with a single user account." I have a tablet and a phone , yes my account is on both, i was never notified of a new log in to any other devices.
my existing credits were withheld. I replied to this email and was then again told that my account was deactivated because I shop the same store more than one time a day and multiple stores per day seemed suspicious. After telling "Sarah K." that her accusations were false and that my account need to be reinstated,I was sent a final email saying that there would be no more answers to my emails.
As of yesterday I was given 24 hours to redeem the credits that I earned through the app however I have no way to redeem them since they will not update my information still pretty much useless I am not happy about this and will be posting a bad review on several social media feeds.I was accused of violating the terms of service for shopping more than one store in a day. I'm an extreme couponer, yes! I DO shop more than one store in a day I shop the same store multiple transactions a day. This is not a violation of terms of service from what I have been shown.
I just recently started using this app. I am always buying food and other items . I went thru the items and stared all I liked then I go shopping. I went shopping the first time and got $29 something back thru Ibotta into my PayPal .i figured cool at least it's stuff I use. So I did my monthly shopping I paid cash over a hundred and fifty dollars I have my receipt yet. Decided to try some new stuff who wouldn't I go into my account and seen my credit in there for $34.25 I said cool for just doing something I like to do shop. I tried to transfer it out and my account is locked. I'm like what the heck. So I wrote them 3 times and got one reply they are checking into it Hello Ibotta I paid cash isn't my receipt enough? So I wait until Monday and write again same message I get the same message from 3 different people. I work for a living I don't need to scam Ibotta for items I'd normally would buy or eventually notice and try. But don't offer to pay me for buying stuff and not do it. That is wrong. Pay me Ibotta like promised you owe me $34.25 plus I'm waiting on a pending on Groupon for some shavers and perfume I bought $1.15. Lol this is sad they really think I'm going to mail back my shavers and perfume. SAD After that I don't care if you deactivate me there are plenty of sites that won't screw me out of what I have coming Tired of waiting for them to unlock my account.
