Just cancelled my HP Instant Ink subscription about a month ago. My printer will no longer print. Apparently the instant ink cartridges are different from the ones bought instore. This was never told to me. I can't find this "little" detail anywhere on the websites I searched. I just put brand new instant ink cartridges in that I paid for many times over since I print so little and have been paying monthly. Called HP Instant Ink support and waited for 20 minutes.
Finally someone answered and said yes the ones mailed have a chip in them. I told him it is not right. I paid for these and should get the use of them or a refund, he transferred me and I waited again. This time for 10 minutes. I was told by the next representative that I paid for the pages printed not the ink. I said, " No you did not supply my paper .
You supplied the ink I paid for. I did not use the ink and I was never told about this chip or that if I cancelled my subscription I would not be able to use what I paid for." She said sorry someone should have told you. I said OK I will post this issue everywhere I can.
These excess cartridges were sent to me via my enrollment in the program.
I talker with A HP rep and was told that they will not provide credit for the cartridges and moreover they will send me more if I continue the program. If I drop the instant ink program, I will not be able to use the excess cartridges because they can control the recognition of cartridges thru the internet connection and built-in software.
I have in effect paid for these cartridges thru my enrollment in the instant ink program and the use should be at my discretion. If what they are doing is not illegal, it surely is not an ethical business practice.
H.P Instant ink program, huge ripoff, Do not give these people any information. It is very hard to cancel the program and if you do manage to cancel, they shut the ink cartridges that are in the printer off, making the printerinopratable until ink is purchased.
Read the fine print of the cotract very carefully, they claim even after paying the monthly fee, they still own the cartridges. Best just to stay away fromH.P. all together. Buyer Beware!
HP Instant Ink is actually HP instant RIPOFF. Do not sign up, in fact stay away from HP. Not only were they charging me for 18 months after I’d thrown their crap printer in the garbage, but they weren’t even sending the d**n ink. I tried to cancel several times, when it finally went through they put through another instant payment the next day.
They did kindly refund me for 3 months including the one that went through after the cancellation!!! So I paid for ink that I did not receive for 16 months and they will do nothing about it. Stay away from the HP instant farce.
I paid two years of payments @ 3.24 per month. This was for ink refills when they were needed. I did not receive any refills in that time. I cancelled the service was not worth it. Then they shut off the ink cartridges which were given to me me at the begining of the plan.
I feel i paid for the refills which i paid (78.00) over the two year period. I called and was told I paid for the service. WHAT SERVICE? for them to take my money and never give a refill. At least let me use the initial cartridges which were sent to me. After i actually paid for them.
I have been a member of the HP Instant Ink program since I purchased my printer over two years ago.
I Have been billed correctly $2.99 each month.
My printer has been on-line since purchases and I have received one black ink cartridge on 7/22/16 and none since. (I had an xl cartridge from a prior printor which I had used, so the shipped black cartridge was not needed till later.
ON 11/25/18 I tridet to print postage to ship out a package and it wpiuld only print in color.
I checked my printer ink levels and it showed out of black ink.
How the heck can I ran out of black ink, when i am a member of the instant ink program. My printer is always on line and HP should have been notified over two weeks ago I was running very low.
I called them on Monday and was told they can see I am out of black ink and would hurry up the process and get one to me in 5-7 days , was told it usuall takes 7-14 day once notified.
I ask what am I to do I need to print postage and of course regular printing. He had no answer, and gave me an addition 50 pages to the account. I told him I wil never use them, I dont print that much, that now I will have to buy black ink at a store. He did not offer to reimburse me for the purchase.
So I have paid over $108.00 in monthly fees and have received one black (second in a week or so) and only one color cargridge since signed up for the program.
I know I am paying for the convienence of not running out of ink and running to the store, but HP Instank did not live up to their promise.
P.S. I spoke with my office admim person, and she said the office was having the same problem and a HP rep some how was able to change the settings to mail the ink out when notified level at 30%, and since then there has been no problem at work.
The person I spok with never even offered this option.
I was in their Insta Ink program which mailed me ink cartridges whenever they felt they wanted to and charged me for printing on my paper from my computer.
When I cancelled the service they disabled my ability to use the ink cartridge that I had purchased. Now I am held hostage by HP and my printer. I cannot print anything until I go to the store and pay more money to replace a perfectly good cartridge.
I have read other complaints on Rip Off Report and my complaint is exactly what others have reported.
I cannot believe that they continue to get away with this!!
Would not recommend this to anyone.first off they monitor every page you print.send you emails like big brother is watching you letting you know how many pages you have printed and there will be additional charges for going over your limit. Second problem I had I immediately contacted them when I got there email a d told them I did not want to use there program.thst I would buy my own ink and print what ever I want when I want. And to cancel my subscription that was December the 14th 2017.may if 2018 I got a ebill from them.so I called again .was very clear I wanted no part of them and to stop billing me.here we are july 2018 I receive another bill from them for 25.99 so I call again.talked to a couple people.even thou i been using my own ink i bought .they dat they can not give me my money back because printer was used off and in during last 6 months .what a load of bull.i personally am done buying there products to much hassel.i have a business to run.not do and time in the phone with idiots who only want to keep billing you.
I had printed 3 pages (one sided) the other day and they made it 8, I had just caught this today and contacted them. I told them I have video surveillance in my home that will prove this and that fraudulent charges are serious to me (especially that I had this for a year now and had received charges of 10+ extra for "going over the page limit" when I am paying for the 100 pages as is). The chat support specialist named "ICE" said that I should re-look at my pages and I said I have and he said he can send me a copy of the "on terms of agreement on your account page." I said clearly, you're not looking to resolve anything for me and I don’t want to have to contact the BBB or report this as a scam. And he replied with "Sure, I will respect your decision on that." I then stated I wanted to speak with someone else and he/she took my phone number, and no one has called since.
I have screen shots of this bizarre encounter as well. I would not recommend using this service, just save 5 dollars a month to the side if you cannot afford it at once or signup for amazon refill for every few months
IN 2014 PURCHASED A NEW HP PRINTNER W/ INSTANT INK $2.99 A MONTH OK I UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS BUT ONLY GOT 1 INK REFILL IN 3 YEARS AGIAN I UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS....THEN MY PRINTER BROKE CANCELED THE SERVICE WAS INFORMED COULD NOT USE THE INK I PAID FOR OK UNDERSTAND AGIAN, THEN THEY CHARGE ME AGIAN FOR THE NEXT MONTH CANT TALK TO ANYONE AT HP ABOUT THIS THIS I DONT UNDERSTAND??????????? HP Instant Ink Reviews
I enrolled in their Instant Ink program and then cancelled it, before ever receiving any Instant Ink cartridges.
Then found out my printer won't print - my regular extra large ink cartridges now will not work, because I used them while enrolled in Instant Ink.
So I have been robbed of the cost of those cartridges plus the time and trouble to replace them. Ripoff!!
