BAD EXPERIENCE! Bought a vehicle from House of Cars from their website. They didn't disclose the damage on the vehicle and were careful about the pictures they chose to post. Even though I asked the salesman (Moe)if their was any visible body damage on the car.
It was also further damaged in transit. Didn't stand up and take responsibility. Cost me almost $2000 to fix car. Nothing from their insurance or their shippers insurance. Very disappointed. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER. DON'T EVEN START ME ON THE TERRIBLE SHIPPING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!

I called them about a truck they had advertised for sale. Of course that truck was not available, but the salesman was quick to assure me that they could find me a truck, I just needed to apply for financing. I explained that I was currently unemployed and unable to finance a vehicle which was why I wanted the cheap one that needed some work. He advised me it was no problem and I could just get a small loan, their people could get the financing. Like an idiot I agreed and for two days I submitted paperwork and let them confirm my income, I get a pension. Then my bank called to advise that my account had been compromised and I would need to come in. When I left the bank the following morning I called House of Cars to advise that my bank thought they were attempting some sort of fraud. I was fed some song and dance about how the bank just wanted my business and assured that they were all legit and the financing would be in place by end of day. I said ok well no problem, all card and account numbers have been changed. An hour later I got a call saying that the financing had been declined. I am very thankful that the people at the bank are smarter then I am.
In Calgary (AB), this is the best place to take your kids to teach them how to avoid getting scammed.
I visted the store on Jan 12, 2017.
Firstly, the budget you alot for buying a car may not be respected. Arguments including the bank will not approve you for a loan are usually given in different sentences. If you decide to pay cash, a car or truck of higher is proferred to a customer and forced for purchase. They may ask you to buy a lubrico warranty which does not cover much (1000$). I backed ouf of these first few deals.
They also have a brilliant chart depictibng four squares on a paper showing vehicle value, interest rate, monthly payment, and term rate. I think in this age, many are aware of expenses and how much they are willing to put down and pay for a vehicle.
They called me back the next few days insisting on a purchase. I asked them to search for cars I was interested in: Volvo xc70 wagon and Saab 9-5 wagon (very uncommon and rare vehicles for the region). They claimed they had access to the wholesale market. I had some idea of the year and prices of the vehicles being offered on Calgary Kijiji. They called me back saying they found perfect matches on Wholesale. When they mentioned the matches to me. the year, kms on the vehicle, model matched 100% to the kijiji private ads. However, they were asking for $3500-5000 more than the private ads price. So, I was a bit perplexed and refused.
In the end, I just went for a private transaction. Please be careful dealing with House Of Cars.
On Sunday July 24, 2016 I was going through house of cars - deals on vehicles. I choose and put down my credit application down for a car online (provided link- http://www.houseofcarscalgary.com/used/Honda/2012-Honda-Civic-6f0606cc0a0e08b963d7c7a637ede8c7.htm)
Which is Honda Civic EX(A5) 2012 coupe posted price $11800 $161 Per Month [84 Months @ 3.9% A.P.R. (estimated financing rate)]. A sales person contacted me next day asking what type of car i am interested in and such. He told be that will look into that for me once I provide him my information such as pay stub, DOB , income and so on. I provided all information requested, he got back next morning (July 26, 2016) saying that they got me approved for the deal 100% and if I am interested for come in?
So , I went next day July 27 , 2016 noon to their office and they start showing me a different car with high mileage over 80,000Km, had a dent and a leak on bottom , dirty interior , 4 doors and the price $16800.I asked this not the car I was viewing and what happen to the other car? First , They said that the car I was view have accident and not good for sale.
But I insist to view the car anyway , then they said that the car was sold other day. Then I told them that the whole reason I was interested because of that cars suites my budget. If that car is sold they could have inform me and i could decide whether I want to move forward or not without running my credit information.
I think this is a totally unethical and bad business practice, providing false or misleading information - an offence under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act to knowingly provide false or misleading information under the Act or the regulations.
