HotelTravel.com Reviews

I paid $129 for 3 nights at the D Hotel in Las Vegas through the website hoteltravel.com. When I arrive at the property they inform me of a $67.50 resort fee. There was also a $100 deposit that was returned upon departure. As a result of my emails to hoteltravel.com below I learned that this would of been charged wherever I booked the hotel. The difference with the other sites is the he fact that all of the other sites I reviewed show the exact amount of the resort fee! This practice gives hoteltravel.com an unfair advantage due their total price appearing lower than other sites.

My letter to Hoteltravel.com: Your website is very misleading. When I went to this hotel there was a $100 deposit and a $67.50 resort fee. Those prices are NOT listed on this receipt or the voucher. My $100 got refunded at checkout however you website is very misleading and should show any resort fee information. The hotel suggested contacting your company for a refund. I would like to get this refunded to me or I will sadly not be using your services in the future. Their response: HotelTravel.com has been informed this property may charge a compulsory hotel or resort fee. This fee is payable in cash, directly to the hotel or resort, and is not included in your reservation on HotelTravel.com. This information is provided for the benefit of our customers. Best Regards, Rene L. My response: Rene L, The resort fee was more than 50% of the total room rate and was not mentioned as such. I will not be able to recommend using hoteltravel.com on my internet review. I do want to thank you for responding to my inquiry very quickly. Sincerely, Peter F.

Their Response: The information was outlined directly on our site when you were making the booking. The CONDTIONS. TAXES, & MORE tab which is located under the final price stated the following : A security deposit of USD 100 is required upon arrival for incidental charges. This deposit is fully refundable upon check-out and subject to a damage inspection of the accommodation HotelTravel.com has been informed this property may charge a compulsory hotel or resort fee. This fee is payable in cash, directly to the hotel or resort, and is not included in your reservation on HotelTravel.com. This information is provided for the benefit of our customers. Best Regards, Rene L.

My response: After doing reasearch on this I agree with you the other agents do have resort fees, the difference is the other agents disclose the amount. The amount should be on your website. A cost of a resort fee that makes the total amount 50% higher could make a person want to look at other options. Your website is more like a bait a switch without the amount. It should also be on the voucher, it even has a special notes section. Again, I respect the fact you respond quickly. Thanks again, Peter F.

Hoteltravel.com is a scam site. i lost hundreds of dollars using them

  • Aug 3, 2015

I was directed to this website upon doing a hotel search on Kayak.com. Upon trying to book a hotel through HotelTravel.com I received an error message telling me that the room was no longer available. That would all be fine except that they continued to charge my credit card. I received a call from My Fraud Prevention department called telling me that the charge went through. Furthermore, they did not provide me with a confirmation email telling me that they have charged my card, and the customer service agent told me that she will not do so either. She said that she could see me in the system but could not see a confirmation number attached to the booking. She would not transfer me to her manager, and the only working phone line available was in Thailand, so I had to make an international call at that. The 24 hour customer service in the U.S. is a lie as that number does not work, and the chat function does not work either. I then sent them an email. I then received an email from their customer service line saying that they did not see us in the system, even though the agent we talked to 10 mins earlier said otherwise. When we asked for a reimbursement, they said they needed all of our credit card information. This website is a definite scam.
