In September I booked a twinbedroom for 2 days through the website Wotif.com. Wotif advertised this hotel as a 4.5/5 star hotel. On arriving we found that the room for which I was charged $216 per night was too small, with the beds occupying the whole room with about 6 inches on one wall to walk around. There was no gap between the beds. There was no room to keep our luggage unless we kept it on the bed. The bathroon was also similarly tight as the bed room. I hve never stayed in such a small twinroom before. This was a Scam because Wotif described this Hotel as 4/5 - 5 Star category. the taxi driver found it very difficult to locate the place even with his Navigator. It was in narrow lane off a road in the Kyoto city. The hotel had no front. We had to walk from the taxi along anothe even smaller lane to come accros a wall with a door leading to a lift. The lift took us to the reception - No parling and no shop front!, and this was classified as a 4.5 star hote l!!!. This was not what I expected. The hotel did not offer a larger room, so I cancelled my booking verbally as they refused to give it in rwriting. On reporting to Wotif I was told that there will be no refund for the 2 days, and not even for the second day. This is the worst rip-off I have faced in booking a hotel in my 46 years of International travel. I am convinced that this is a Scam, and one way or another the booking agent Wofif.com is also a party to it.
