HORRIBLE experience renting a disgusting dump in Ventnor, NJ from Cole (his company is called Host House) through Airbnb!! We saw seat cushions that were ripped to shreds along with stained bedsheets that looked like excrement. My daughter and I both stepped on NAILS sticking up from the floor! In the refrigerator was a large FedEx package that took up almost an entire shelf; Cole told us not to remove it. The floor in the kitchen is warped.
This is a second-floor unit and the stairway has narrow steps that are not in good condition. There is no outside light so it is scary going up and down at night. Our bedroom had no nightstand but we found a lamp shoved into the closet (the cheapskate owners couldn’t even spring for a nightstand). Several outlets were not working and looked dangerous. We were treated terribly by Cole, who kept telling us that "it’s the owners’ fault.” Cole admitted that the unit was in substandard condition but the owners refused to put any money into it.
I have stayed in hostels that were more welcoming.
