In March of 2021, I was trying to research property values for homes my family owned. I found HomeRecordUSA and thought that I had purchased two home reports for $1 each. At the first purchase, I was unknowingly enrolled into a subscription with a recuring charge of $18.95/month. I received no receipt of said purchase, no email verification of terms, charge dates or opt-out options. Nothing! A couple of days later I purchased another report and was charged $1, where it should have been free, if I was a paid subscriber.
This was all unknown to me until I examined my credit card statement more closely 3 months later and discovered 4 charges for $18.95. I contacted my CC company and was refunded the total amount, minus $1. HomeRecordUSA charged me $18.95 again in July 2021. This time I went to HomeRecord and had an online chat with 'Della' a person neither competent nor professional or helpful. She said that the charges will stop, but refused to refund the last charge. After a brief online debate, I promised to report the company to the Attorney General of Nevada, which I have done already.
I am familer with Zillow and should have gone straight to them, since this company seems to be charging for what is free on Zillow. Bonus! I have an AARP card in my wallet, meaning I'm offically a senior citizen...if this company will attempt to steal from the elderly, they'll steal from anyone! Bonus bonus! If anyone from HomeReport reads this, I have already fullfilled 2 promises, to report you to the AG of Nevada and to a business complaint site on the web, (this one). If I am ever charged again, I will report you to the police and file a complaint with the FTC.
BAIT and SWITCH. Was told it would be $1,00 for a single report. My card was charged $18.95 for a 9 reports within a year. Report was completely useless and a duplicate of information that could have been obtained for free from any real estate website.
Got on homevaluepennsylvania.Us.Org site. I thought it was a government site - oooops!) very simple site - want a report - put in address. Clicked on download. Download took what seemed like forever - 5 to 10 minutes. Showed bars showing all the different catagories that were downloading. Then before you get the report it asks for $1 to offset costs of reports. Put it visa card. So i believe this is where you hit "continue" and end up on homerecordusa.com.
This site has a lot more detail to it. At the top it tells me that it cant find my property. What a scam - 10 minute download - now give us $1to view the info - ooops sorry-- no info. Then" live chat", paula, tells me i have signed up for 12 months of $18.95 installments to get 19 reports per month. I told them there were no offers of any plans just the one dollar charge. "your site is very deceptive. I never received a report. Refund all money!
They said they would. Time will tell. She said her manager, brian thompson, would locate the property info and send it to my e-mail within 30 minutes. I did find an e-mail this a.M. - but it still said there is no info on this property. Why would they charge you if they could not find info???
This a.M. I did what i should have done last nite --- checked out Scamion. Similar stories were reported. Oldest i saw was 2013. Did'nt spend much time browsing. Better business bureau said to cancel my cards. I spent a lot of time on the phone with the credit card co., had to close my new cards out and start a dispute file. And soon go thru the hassle of re-doing all set-ups) and filing this report. Then i got 5 calls from a company saying they were pennpower - i called - they were not -- what a world--deep sigh!!!!)
