HomeDefenders.com Reviews
First, let’s start off by talking about how we were lied to when we initially signed up with ADT. We were with another competitor(whom we never should have left) to try and get a cheaper rate. After being told different things over the phone than in person, we were only $1 cheaper. Because I knew we had a relocation coming up, I asked about transferability, to which I was informed could happen under the same contract.
Upon moving, we transferred our service to our new location. Before deciding this, I once again asked about transferring or if we could just put our account on hold but I was advised that if we moved it to our new location then we would be that much farther along in our contract when we moved again. ( Second lie). So we did just as we were advised.
Then upon further investigation, we were being billed for our previous home and new home because a separate account was opened instead of transferred and this went on for 6 months. I immediately called and requested a refund and to close out the old account. I was promised this would be promptly taken care of. However, one month later it had not been closed out and we were in fact charged for another month.
After 4 different phone calls and multiple hours on the phone I finally got my money back. However, after going through all of this I asked to end my contract and be waved of the early termination. This again took many calls and transfers being bounced back and forth and one particular interaction with a VERY rude employee who refused to let me talk to anyone else including someone in management.
I was advised at the end of one of my last calls that I was in fact lied to not once but twice as every time you move to a new address a different contract is started so the 36 months start over. These people are conn artists at their finest. If this company cannot handle a matter such as billing and administrative work, there is no way I trust them with the security of my home and loved ones. They truly should be reported for fraud.
Received add from ADT Protect Your Home. It has ADT logo | Protect your Home. No mention of the name Defenders. Add states: WE WANT YOU BACK! Free reactivation Former customer offer. I am a former ADT customer. ADT installed full system in September 2009.
I contacted 1877-483-5918 on the add and they told me price and I replied that was too high. Wanted long term 1 price so I hung up. They called me back next day. They asked me if I had a land line. I replied no to Employee ID#012970. They transfered me to their manager who again asked me do you have a land line. I replied No. They said they would replace my oriiginal ADT working Alarm system for a new ADT system and offered $36.99/mo. I said too high then they offered to replace it for $27.99/mo. I approved and set up the install with them on the phone.
Installer BLAIR arrived on 1/25 at 3pm. Blair began to install new system. Original wiring was used which he said was good. Only Digital Keypad and Battery were to be replaced and reprogramed to the new Keypad. When Installer Blair was had been there for 2 hours he then told me that because I didn't have a land line the cost would be $52.99. I told him no I was quoted $27.99. He said the order was for $36.99. I looked at the order and it showed $36.99. He called his supervisor and reiterated that he said no the price is $52.99. Installer Blair said do you want to stop the install and I said yes.
Installer Blair begain to uninstall his equipment and reinstall my original ADT Keypad but after 2 hours was not able to program all the window and door Zones. All zones were showing that the windows and 1 door were open on the Keypad. He called his support and tried again. No such luck. He then told us there is noting more he can do. That he doesn't know how to program our ADT Keypad. Installer Blair said that yes he is sorry that he is leaving us with a now non-working alarm system but gave us this option: Contact ADT and ask them to come and program the kepyad. If they want to charge you then contact his company Defenders and file a Damage Claim. I called ADT and they won't because Defender is the one who damaged it. I called Defenders and George #9968 told me the following: Cant help you because you invited the Installer into your home. I asked for a supervisor and he told me there were none and they wont help me anyway. I left my phone number and asked for a supervisor to call. No return call.
