I WAS SOLICITED BY HOMEADVISOR AND HAD TO PAY $100.00 FOR PROMOTION OFFER TO RECEIVE $300.00 IN LEAD CREDITS AND WAS TOLD BY SALES PERSON THAT, DOWNLOAD THE HOMEADVISOR PRO APP AND LEADS WILL BE DELIVERED TO MY CELL PHONE. BUT, CALL CUSTOMER FAST AND TEXT TO RESPOND FAST.

I WAS TOLD WOULD ONLY RECEIVE LEADS THAT, WERE PRE SCREENED TO ALLOW VISITS TO HOME OWNWERS HOMES THAT, WERE READY TO PURCHASE CENTRAL VACUUMS HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED PERIOD.

THE FIRST LEAD TO BE CHARGED ONLY $15.00 WAS CHARGED $25.00 AND, NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH TELEPHONE NUMBER PROVIDED BY HOMEADVISOR FOR HOMEOWNER, I MADE FURTHER ATTEMPTS VIA TEXT WITH NO RESPONSE BUT, STILL CHARGED FOR THE GENERATED LEAD.

SECOND LEAD, CALLED CONSUMER WITHIN SECONDS BUT, PERSON ONLY WANTED TO ASK QUESTIONS BUT, NOT HIRE ME AND STILL CHARGED BY HOMEADVISOR, BUT WAS ABLE TO FIGHT FOR CREDIT WHICH, WAS APPLIED BACK TO MY ACCOUNT FOR CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH LEADS. TRY TO CALL HOMEADVISOR AND EXPECT LONG HOLD TIME.

THIS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES CONCERING THAT, HOMEADVISOR'S WRECKLESS DISREGARD WAS A TATIC USED TO JUST CHARGE ME FOR ANY LEAD PERIOD EVEN THOUGH "NO" CONTACT WAS MADE WITH CONSUMER OR CUSTOMER DID NOT INTENT TO HIRE BUT, SEEK FREE INFORMATION AND BILL THE PRO ADVISOR ME REALLY,

I HAVE TO TAKE MY TIME TO GIVE OUT FREE ADVICE BUT, CHARGE MYSELF FOR THIS SERVICE IS CRAZY, IF HOMEADVISOR WOULD OF BEEN HONEST AND TOLD ME ANY LEAD IS CHARGED REGARDLESS WOULD OF CAUSED ME NOT TO ENTER INTO THEIR "CONTRACT".

HOMEADVISOR'S BAIT AND SWITCH IS A DAILY PRACTICE AND STAY CLEAR OF ANY CALLS FROM THEM PROMISING GREAT SUCCESS. IN PLAIN ENGLISH THIS IS "FRAUD TRAP" & "SCAM".

ONLY RECEIVED 1 LEAD PER MONTH HOW SAD NO RETUN ON MY INVESTMENT THEY PROMISED AND, AFTER 5 MONTHS NO LEADS WERE SOLD OR CLOSED, I GUESS HOMEADVISOR EXPECTED ME TO JUST GIVE OUT FREE ADVICE WHICH, I HAD TO PAY FOR MAKES NO SENSE, I WOULD RATHER GIVE MONEY TO HOMELESS PERSON.

FINAL POINT, BEAWARE OF THE SCAM HOMEADVISOR IS SELLING AND YOU WILL NOT GET ANY REFUND IF, YOU READ THE CONTRACT.

I EVEN TRIED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR WHO KEPT SAYING HOW SORRY SHE WAS AND ASKING FOR FAIR AND REASONABLE "REFUND" FOR PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT IS NOT PROVIDED AND SHE SAID AGAIN HOW SORRY SHE WAS WITH MY EXPERIENCE, IF SHE WAS REALLY SORRY THERE WOULD OF BEEN SOME SETTLEMENT BY HOMEVISOR.

I was investigating Angie's list for an HVAC service company I was planning to operate in the near future, however was and still are unlicensed to contract as an HVAC contractor, I do not even have a business license as of yet to perform work under $500 like a handyman can without a need to be licensed by the state, however everyone need s abusines license at minimum to do anything.

I was tricked into providing my checking account #/ debit card information during the registration process. I wa spromised a website they would design and assist me in implementing it and getting jobs.

As soon as they got my fiscal data I was promised "LadyX" would get back to me soon to continue with me in completing my registration and website etc.

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and as a result my plans on opening a HVAC business was obviously put on hold, I was unavailable to work in addition to not being legally able to work so naturally I asssumed since Angies list / Home advisor vetted every expert they list on their website, BEFORE it is listed ! according to them, they would not & could not proceed with listing me as a vetted HVAC business available now to work.

Imagine my shock to learn my account was dinged for $350 for a month of allegedly listing my business since they went ahead and despite not having a website for me and having an incorect phone number for me listed in the ad so even IF anyone responded to my listing, they could not reach me as the phone number was wrong!

My girlfriend called them to tell them the problems and my status and they simply behaved as if everything was fine and I was ignoring customers who responded to the listing they made with the wrong phone number for a busness they never vetted and was unlicensed! THey continued to ignore me and her repeated calls and emails however amazingly enough Angies list had my correct phone number when it came to them trying to bill me for doing nothing!

I am possibly dying, fighting for my life with $2k to my name ands Angies List went ahead and billed me for a 2nd month of the bogus listing, which was so bad I doubt anyone called it as I had 0 references compared to everyone else with many thousands! my website was non existant and the listing looked shabby and low busdget with no reason to gamble on trying!

I had to tell my bank to change my account #s to finally stoop ANges who was trying to get a 3rd biling ! despite me dying and not being vetted etc etc, I was then told I owed them $4,200 since I "cancelled" within the first year!!! SOmething never told to me and opposite of their sales pitch which was confusing as they pretty much told me I could do everything myself free as far as being listed by them which really confused me, but that was the ide I guess. As of now they stil have my money although I did get the bank to retract 1 month they stole from me!

I see they have been doing this for years now, too bad it seemed like a good idea, but what kind of outfit tricks you into a 1 year commitment for over $4k and then tries to threaten you with collections too which i already received now!

My landscaping business signed up with them. They charge a fee of $287 to sign up and then $14 a month and for all jobs referred to you another portion, depending on what is done.

This company is a scam. When you call the leads that are sent to you, the phone number provided is always the same with a different extension number. Neither number ever works. If you don't call them and tell them to credit your account because the number was incorrect, they will charge your credit card for the referral. I noticed after the 2nd month that, all these phone numbers look the same and have different extensions. They just furnish a different address with name. These are all fake jobs. There are no such referrals.

When you call your account representative, he never responds back with number provided so when you call customer service and complain, somehow, the representative seems to call you back then. They suck and need to be put out of business and thrown in jail. Don't let them start another company like this or change their name. This is just awful how you scam people into your web of lies and deceit. HORRIBLE COMPANY!!

Home Advisor, Inc is a Scam-Fraud I signed up to become a Pro Home Advisor because Coldwell Banker has a program that will pay for staging if you are a Pro Home Advisor. I don't need leads, but I signed up for the Coldwell Banker's program benefit in October 2019. Some clients don't stage because of the cost. I was charged a fee to be a member of the Pro group.

Then they started sending me referrals for staging projects that were located 100-200 miles from my location. I talked to them. They credited my Home Advisor account with $300 something. Then I worked defining my location my area codes and cities. I still didn't receive any leads. I emailed them multiple times. I called several times and was forwarded to one person after another.

Each time I indicated I was cancelling my Pro status and wanted my monies refunded to me. Their answer to me, they never refund, but they wanted to review (again) the locations appropriate for my business to continue working with the business. Friday, March 27,2020 I was told its not their policy to refund and it was written in a contract when I signed on. I didn't get a contract -- I signed up via a telephone.

In October, I had a $300 credit in my Home Advisor account, but they continued to charge additional fees. I informed the local Coldwell Banker Real Estate Manger of the scam, but didn't receive any real interest in the issue.

I am a professional contractor who pays HomeAdvisor for leads to customers seeking my services. Their leads are expensive. 40% of their leads are bad. When I cannot contact a home or business owner, I still have to pay for the lead. I cannot charge too much for my services, or the client will not contract with me. Yet, HomeAdvisor leads cost me about 45% of the total job cost.

If HomeAdvisor sends a lead out to multiple contractors, they all get charged for the lead. This is unethical! Only the contractor who wins the job should be charged for the lead. HomeAdvisor's policies are designed to make money for them, but are not designed in the best interest of the contractor. It is very difficult to get credit for a bad lead! All their care about is money, not the welfare of the contractor.

The HomeAdvisor/Handy(dot)com home services portal is completely unfair and thus unsustainable!! All of these online service portals (that girl's list, that clumsy digit tack (dot) com, have now become unworkable because they are completely UNFAIR!

The list of why they are unfair, is very long, but here is a summary: They are not professionals in this business they provide, thus they are ignorant/naive and grabbing at your money to try and go public/wall street/stock offering as a payback for their original Venture Capitalists that started their company(s); As, a result of their greedy money-grabbing ignorance, they resort to what can only be deemed extortion tactics, literally sucking every penny out of all monies coming in, and they do this in the following methods: a) they charge the service requestor about retail price for that particular category, and then pay the service contractor only about a 1/3 of what they charge the original service requesting customer; in addition, their pay period is only monthly, and if the service provider wants to get paid sooner they take another deduction out of that measly pay!

Also, when customer has the job done otherwise and does not cancel the original request, then the service provider has to take a one-time cost hit as well a percentage of all future sales..and this payout reduction applied to all future wages earned, and, another percentage deduction every time the same service provider has to cancel there is another payout deduction on all future wages earned, and this applies to all service providers even if they have a top rating of being a provider!

In addition, once a service provider reaches top pro status, he/she is allowed special access to service requests that other newbies do not have, but oh wait that is another weekly expense that is tacted on to the final wage payout!! Additionally, even the service requesting customer is also charged for canceling a project! Worth to mention, HomeAdvisor being sued!!))

There are many more things that could be said, such all online service request portals have now become unworkable because they are inequitable and only designed to please their Venture Capitalists! These are a greedy money-grabbing bunch of *crack heads (*numerous and verifiable news items prove this that they consume cocaine in low doses as well as high doses to do their work!) who have no common sense, they are highly over-paid code writers who truly believe they have the world by the tail and that they are the center of the universe and that, they, believe they deserve to have a better life than the slaves they hire to do the dirty productive work out here on Main Street.

The problem with them, is what all by-gone civilizations have believed, which is that they should not have to do the dirty work, but instead hire under-paid slaves to do what their "royal" attitude thinks they deserve. The great lesson for them, is to study history, as all such civilizations have (gasp!) been all but wiped from history!

Additionally, all control mechanisms designed to order the plebians' life have all failed miserably! Thus, unless they can see the signs on the wall, and heed this message, they too will hit a very hard wall in due time! The universe hates a vacuum, and thus, when there is such a imbalance/vacuum of fairness, then the nature of things, universally, will do the job, that sometimes, no other human can get the courage to do! This imbalance of fairness and equity will be dealt with!

These are not just idle words, these are lessons from history that the propogators of injustice will learn either the hard way or easy way, it is only a matter of time until the nature of the universe will deal with these fraudulent doers of inequality in a very harsh manner! God, (the nature of things) will not be mocked, those who sow inequity must reap what they sow! There is a very harsh judgement day of eternal mental torment coming for all those who do not repent of their deeds of inequity! And this applies to all such and similar deeds!

Heed these words, now, and repent (do a complete 180 degrees change of direction), or you will see the nature of things deal with you in ways that you never dreamed of! And, the longer this injustice continues, the harsher the correction will be, as this is the nature of all things vacuums/imbalances! The mountains will be made low, and the valleys will be lifted! What goes up (inequitably) must come down! Those who are first now, will be made the last, and those who are last, will be become the first to resp the benefits of a new age of balance, equity and meritacracy.

These mentioned and unmentioned frauds, have not earned their rights to benefits in a new age of equitable dialogue, discourse and application of the Golden Rule. May all frauds heed this message before it is too late! Signed, Frank

Sales representatives of HomeAdvisor.com will contacted me and with an offer to waived their $300 annual membership fee, but I will have to spend $300 worth of leads. They told me that their leads cost 30-60 dollars, but in reality you have no visibility on the cost of the leads.

The mobile app will notify you with a lead and you have to accept them within an hour. After getting 2 leads the homeadvisor stopped sending me leads. I called the customer service line and they told me that I've maxed out my lead spend. I then logged in on the computer to my view my account and I found that they've charged me $157 dollars for a bathroom renovation lead!

The second bathroom renovation lead cost about $100, which was actually a bigger job than the first. I then tried to cancel my services and asked them to take my company profile down but they refused and told me that because I accepted the leads I am liable for them.

The've since sent my invoice for collection. They utilized an automated/robotic system where you just hae to respond "yes" to authorize charges on your credit card, which was odd because it was not in WRITING. Bottom line, they control the cost per lead (these are just leads!)

so that they can max out your marketing budget as quickly as possible so they can make as much money as they can from you.

Initially leads were supposed to be about $50. The actual price per lead being charged was $110-$125. We would still happily pay for leads if they weren't "dead" leads.

The consumers are mislead to believe they can use the website to simply research information such as pricing while the Contractor is being charged for every person (even if they are not looking for the service to be performed). The leads are being sold to way more contractors than they state upfront.

When a contractor requests a credit for leads that cannot be contacted, do not call back, or were never interested in the first place they are denied. Your card on file is charged at their discretion and there is nothing that you can do about it.

When you call to cancel they try and entice you with a couple of free leads that go no where. If you chose to leave anyway, they call you again and if they can't reach you they reactivate your account without your consent and begin to charge you again.

This is a scam operation. They used to be named ServiceMagic and when they had lawsuits piling up, they changed their name to create distance between the lawsuits and the branded name.

This Scammer Boiler Room Lying "Sales Manager" took advantage of my grandparents by draining their account for 6months when they never signed up for Home Improvement repair help. Then instead of referring an expert for their clogged drain, he came with his buddy posing as plumbers! He accidentally gave his business card from his job at Home Advisor so we put it together. Figures. When you google his company HOME ADVISOR, it says SCAM SCAM SCAM! They just changed their name for the 4th time to Angi Home Services. After my attorney threatened a lawsuit FINALLY Home Advisor fired him after 6 years of Bilking people. He now works for UBER EATS. His managers (who are in on the skim) gave him glowing recommendations to get the new job. I heard he does this to support his Heroin habit. My grandparents found a used syringe in their bathroom after he left.

  • Jul 11, 2019

HomeAdvisor gives the impression they can put you in contact with quality home repair firms which necessarily isn't the case. When you get into the fine print HomeAdvisor's qualifications do not include quality of work. But rather the reccommendations r npt sex offenders, have any judgements or bankruptcies pending.

Consequently you get stuck with unqualified people who really are not skilled at home repair. HomeAdvisor takes no responsibility; nor do they do anything to correct the situation. Furthermore HomeAdvisor does not provide an email where you can contact them nor a phone #. When they do call the phone number is unvailable and u usually end up talking to someone in India.

  • May 10, 2019

Blatant deceptive trade practices; after changing my monthly spending target to $100, HomeAdvisor continued to charge almost $1,000 per month in the six weeks since to a total of $1,436.97 while we accepted zero leads from Home Advisor. The "Spending Target" web page gives NO warning that most lead types are exempt from the "spend target" per the Terms and Conditions.

Home Advisor's spend target web page is intentionally unclear and blatantly misleading. It allows me to turn a knob that has no affect on my spending target.

First out of the gate there were issues with this company. there were 2 leads right off the back that was not interested in being reach and the other one's lead cost was more than i would profit from the job. Ok so they gave me some credit for those two. after that i did receive a couple ok possibles. then straight bogus leads for months with no credit and im talking taking me for 70-$140 a pop.

called they said they would credit what they can and nothing came up of it. so i paused the leads for a month to try and straighten things out because the people they hire boost this program 50 times over. even if you know its bad they make you question yourself. my leads come back on which i wasnt ready for and continued to pause them for 48hrs from my app because they make you call in or be at a desktop/laptop to pause for longer periods.

Genious on their part because ppl like me live off of their mobile devices during the day and at nite you just forget to login on your computer so $$$$$$$$$ for them. I would put in 48hr pause time on my mobile and my leads were coming back on in 24hrs and hit with more expensive bogus leads. I had enough and called the center again to explain what was going on with their app and how its constantly unpausing my leads after 24 hrs instead of 48hrs like it was supposed to be. they went on to tell me i was doing something wrong like i dont understand technology. im in my 30's Really????

They finally said they would credit it and guess what? the first of the month an additional $340 taken from my acct. now i have over $600 within a span of 2 weeks taken from my acct for more bogus leads people not answering their phone or giving wrong numbers to homeadvisor. the first thing the rep who sold the package to me said was if the leads are bogus i will get a refund and his examples were not being able to reach a customer or they didnt really want the work done.

SO WHERE IS MY MONEY BECAUSE THATS EXACTLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO ME AND THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MY MONEY. I WILL BE FILING A POLICE REPORT FOR FRAUD AS WELL AS TO MY BANK. i WOULD NEVER TREAT A CUSTOMER WITH LEGIT CONCERNS THE WAY I WAS TREATED. ILL BE PUTTING THIS UP ON EVERY BOARD I CAN FIND. PLEASE PPL DO NOT GIVE HOMEADVISOR YOUR MONEY. ITS POSSIBLE THAT YOU CAN GET LUCKY AND SCORE A BIG ONE BUT BELIEVE ME ITS A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE YOU WILL LOSE

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. FOR THE FEW REAL LEADS YOU GET WILL NOT BE WORTH THE MONEY, LYING, AND HEADACHES YOU WILL GET FROM THIS COMPANY. I HAVE KNOW IDEA WHERE ALL THOSE GREAT REVIEWS ARE COMING FROM BUT I HAVE AND IDEA IF YOU GET WHAT IM SAYING.

  • Jan 2, 2019

This company has been scamming people for a long time.

They continually pass bogus leads on to contractors and if you request a credit they continually denied them claiming they are legitimate leads even though you call and email the prospects you never get any return calls or emails or they say there no longer doing the project.

I'm a Plumbing contactor, they scour state license databases and cal untill you sign up. I did and then talked to my brother and he sauid he was ripped of hundreds of dollars. called them back and in front of witnesses, told them I didn't want any of the scam their selling, Don't charge my card. 3 days later they did. Were talking bout a company getting sued for RICO. Isn't that what they go after the mafia on. They put Capitol One on hold for hours on my charge back. This company is terrible. They lie, cheat and will steal untill your cretit line is gone and your bankrupt. Do your own research on these thieves before you hand over any info. Thank you for reading. Just another of the thousands of victems of HOMEADVISOR. By the way. they have ripped off 170,000 people like me for millions and milllions.

I was contacted by Homeadvisor several years ago and tried their business listing and referral service. After less than one month I cancelled the service due to incorrect leads not related to my business. They recently called me again to state they had purchased Angie's List and they had completely reorganized there platform to work better. The sales associate Cliff Bulter stated he needed my credit card information just to start the process, but assured me that my card would not be charged until I decided to open an account. I emailed Cliff Butler immediately after stating that under no uncertain terms was Homeadvisor authorized to charge my card. After speaking to a business owner who is currently using the service I decided it was not for me. However, five days later my card was charged the annual membership fee. I was furious and called Mr. Bulter. His demeanor of the phone was completely different when he was reminded that I never authorized a charge to my card. He was rude and began making false statements regarding our initial converation with respect to signing up for the service. I spent the better part of 30 minutes attempting to reach somebody who could refund my charge and close my account. After some checking on the Internet I see that I'm not alone. There are numerous complaints about Homeadvisor and their business practices. I CANNOT RECOMMEND HOADVISOR TO ANY BUSINESS. USE GOOGLE ADWORDS INSTEAD.

At first I listened to the salesman and he said I should keep my service area small to test it out then he said I should use MhelpDesk app to better serve me but I said I don't want it, he says it is free the first month so I tried it and they charged me for it. I was getting leads that out of 20 only 2 responded and I tried calling and sending emails and texts. I told the salesman to end shut my leads off but he didn't respond at first and I was only able to do two days at a time then it would reset at 12AM and I woud get bad leads before turning them off again. The salesman finally turned it off for 30 days but I told him I wanted off the service. He didn;t answer right away but then said I have to call the office so I said I was having my CC decline anymore charges.

I called the place and they agreed to remove me but they still wanted all the money for all the items and I said I would agree to what was charged prior to my telling the salesman to remove me and they agreed over the phone and then they sent me a notification that I still owed them money and they reffered mne to a collection agency and so I called them again and they said they would take a little more than half the money but wouldn't guarantee that they would be able to remove me from the collection agency so I told them their word wasn't any good after the last broken promise. Now I am stuck with my excellent credit being tarnished from a bad company and their policies.

Our business chose to use their Home Advisor Pro after they reached out to us to offer their 'amazing lead services for contractors.' We soon found out after 9 leads that were sent, at over $58 each lead, that they were dead leads, and they didn't know why we were calling them. People became irritated and confused as to why we were calling them, and said they did not need our services, nor were ever looking for our services and were worried that their information was being sold to businesses and people.

We called customer service after losing hundreds, and requested to cancel, and they outright refused to refund the start-up cost for all these bad numbers they gave us. I am thinking they are just generating leads somehow by finding people's info and sending them to people at $58+ a pop. WORST SCAM EVER.

  • Mar 14, 2018

I have been a member for a few years now and have noticed in the past 3 months that the leads I have been getting have been unreliable. Everyone I have called within this time has not answered or has stated they are not interested. I contacted them a month or two ago regarding their leads and the advice they gave me was to contact the customer as soon as possible, as you will get the best outcome by doing so. Even contacting the leads they provided within the same day, the same problem has been occurring. They are now billing me for a service they did not provide. These so-called leads they provide are not leads at all. They have you submit your account number and they automatically withdraw the fees from your account, no matter what the quality of the leads are. They are billing me when I did not get to see one customer.

  • Mar 7, 2018

HomeAdvisor contacted us to try their service. They would give us customer leads to generate us jobs. This was supposed to cost $20 per lead. It ended up costing $60-$100 per lead and no reason as to why some were more expensive than others. Not one lead generated a call. Every customer had already been contacted by a HomeAdvisor Rep and had an appointment set.

Not only that but they are taking money off our card with no list of who they supposedly snet to us. This is a scam, please do not use them. Now they have turned us over to collection because I disputed the charges until they make it right. They said they contacted us several times and they haven't returned my calls or talked to us once regaurding this. I have phone records to prove it.

I was called by a outside boiler room. to sign up for what i thought was a legit crediable service. it turned out to be a lot of lies and bs plus it s a vertial company all bot do dirty work. programed to lie and clean up your credit card balance. callers use fake names and ages so the cant get any return hate mail. they record all your calls and only take a selfservicing few words to justify. repeated debits on your credit card. yes they charge you weekly till you stop they via robots. they never call you again and will spend a hour or two to soften you up offering free leads and goodies. only later do you find out they sold your leads to ???? other people for the same price??? yes their paper work you signed but never read says so. dont worry it cant be so. fraud is fraud and reclyed lead get sold over and over via the bots whos gonna stop the or put them in jail. very cleaver fraudsters. second try. they were reinvented in 2013 from SERVICE MAGIC AKA NOW SAME EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS>>>VERY CLEAN... SMART PEOPLE... dont get caught file a complaint.. they will then just start another company so watch out.

  • Nov 29, 2017

I actually signed up with HomeAdvisor I believe in early November 1/2017 to help grow my home renovation business I formed a little earlier in the year. I was unable to reach over over 50% of the leads I received and requested credits. I was informed that no contact does not justify a credit. Then they proceeded to tell me I was not contacting the home owners quick enough was the reason for home owners not answering....... I cancelled service with them in 11/13/2017..and guess what, I was unable to get credits for the non-contact leads or the the balance of the one year registration. I must have been out of my mind when I signed up again after speaking with one of the sales guys, who actually sent me an email stating they would credit non-contact leads; which they have not HONORED. They sure don't bother to tell you up front that non-contact leads DO NOT GET CREDITED!! OH by the way I was charged another 1 year registration fee which has been denied for credit thus far. How can they charge per lead in wich they failed to mention there will be a charege. some home owners never answer the phone or email sent to them, for planning and budgeting as ready to HIRE!! They advertise to the home owners this is a free service!!! They sure don't inform the home owners the contractors are being charged for leads, do they??? Whether you can actually speak with a home owner or not does not matter to HomeAdvisor because they already have your money!!! If they wanted to business in honest way, they would inform the home owners that contractors get charged a lead fee and hold home owners accountable for allowing all HomeAdvisors contractors to to at least bid on their projects.

Rather than operating in an honest fashion they choose to mislead the public into believing this is a free service. They are costing small businesses a ton of money to make themselves more profitable. They are very deceitful, misleading, uncooperative and accept no responsibility on their behalf, it always the contractors fault.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS IF YOU ARE A CONTRACTOR!!!

this account was only active for 13 days and guess what they said i had a 3 day trial 3 days!!! to cancel the acct. the supervisor refuse to refund me the charge for the lead ue to i was told i will only get charge for the leads i make work for. they send the same lead to 3 more contractors,, this means i was paying for there service for nothing. FRAUN FRAUD FRAUD.. stay way

We hired a concrete pro from Homeadvisor.com Adaleigh’s Landscaping Dustin Cody Cole. He and his sub contractor BO Skipper took off with $8500 and never returned to finish the job. Molly Russell the customer solutions rep from homeadvisor is no longer in touch with us and Mr Cole never responded to her. They do not follow up and do not have anyway of helping out their customers who relied on them for professional help. Stay away from homeadvisor.com!!! They hire criminals and then run away when they have to back up their servoce.

Got a call for HM advisor telling me how great they were and how they could help me make $.- There's your sign.

They talked mre into signing up with them. Told them that I did painting, yardwork, and some misc electrical.

Started out ok, but next thing, I'm getting sent Bathrm remodels, Roofing jobs, Room additions. Was getting jobs sent to me by offices all over the states.

I called them 2x and told them to quit sending me these jobs that I knew nothing about doing. Then came to find out they were deducting $ out of my bank acct whether I went to the jobs or not.

Now I got a letter from a Jack Burnes at CMi stating that I owe them $750.!!!

Blow me. I'm sure they have a lot of ways to make themselves innocent in their "fine print". I am now checking into what my options are with the BBB and Attys.

Advise to all : Do not do business with Home Advisor or any of their a*s clowns.

Do not give them access to your bank acct., THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND.

Why is it, the laws always protect people and co's that rip people off and not the people who are being taken advantage of.

Bunch of crooks in business.

Rip off ,liars, thieves, fake leads. Worst company I've ever dealt with I'm looking to start a class action suit against home advisor.I want them to pay for there mistakes and wasting alot of my time.they will take your money and not deliver anything .

Home advisors scams contractors by charging them for fake leads by saying they sent you leads and billing for them without any prove . they then try turning you over to there collection agency still with out any prove of any said service . To any thing to AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. They need to have a lawyer and state attorneys look into what there doing were not the only company that feels this way.

Gary Lively/ Glamor Time Pool was hired to install a new heater, replaster and retile our pool.

First off his product knowledge on heaters is very poor. I found out later that I could not supply enough gas to

my heater the way I wanted to first do it even though Mr Lively said it would work fine. This turned out to be a joke.

OK I can live with that. I shouldn't have taken his word for it. The real issue begins after he is paid. Once he is paid you play hell getting him out to finish. It took weeks to get him back to finish grouting the tile and putting spa jets back in order.

When he did come back in January, He was oaid in full by November, his tile man worked on about 4-5 feet of top layer tile

and left. When I got home I called Gary and he said he ran out of grout. The man was there in the morning so I dont know when he left but I told Gary there was a Home Depot and two supply stores within a mile or so of my house. Many phone calls later with no responses to voice mail or texts he finally comes back out. Still didnt finish. Tile still remains unfinished, left the pump running with no water circulating as the filter was clogged with grout since they didnt clean

it like they were supposed to. He couldn't finish grouting the tiles properly anyway because part of the tile was in the water.I have hired a new contractor to finish this job and he is pumping water from the pool now so he can let it dry enougn to finish the grout. Gary has not responded to any calls or messages in over two weeks. Instead of one his many lame excuses he now just ignores the calls

This is without a doubt the most miserable experience I have ever had with a contractor.

Homeadvisor Wouldn't use your company or recommend your company to anyone, This company is a frustration to disconnect from! Charged me for non existing leads and then when I Email their agent they did not remove those charges from the invoice, Internet

Home advisor promises to market your contracting/home improvement business. However they don't tell you all the info you need to make a Good discision. They charge for leads that are sent to multiple contractors regardless of out come your all charged for the lead. Its just a rip off from there software they hawk on you. To the poorly screened leads. I had 6 out of 10 people that didnt even have the funds to do there repairs or work. In hindsight would not sign up again.

Received a call from Jason Hill at Home Advisor on or about April 5, 2016. Told him I wasnt interested.

Persistently he called back not les than 5 times, each time trying to get me to spend, invest as Jason puts it, $297.00 for the sole purpose of me subscribing to Home Advisor Pro lead generation service. Jason went on telling me how great HA is and how once I filled out their job description qualification questionaire matrix I will have more qualified leads coming in than I know what to do with, Jasons words "loads of QUALIFIED leads" , yeah right, such BS, IN fact once I paid my $297 subscription fee, next I was told they would allow me $100 credit so that my first several leads all would be free. I had serious doubts about HA service since our work is highly specialized,

We perform chemical free organic poison ivy removal and bamboo removal, this IS all that we do for the last 45 years. I told Jason at HA we are not gardeners, we don't cut grass, no trimming of bushes, no raking leaves! We are HORTICULURAL EXPERTS SPECIALISTS iN VEGETATION CONTROL AND REMOVAL OF HARD TO ERADICATE INVASIVE AND POISONOUS PLANTS, hence we ONLY perform poison ivy/oak and bamboo removal. Despite Jason and his cohorts professing to us they now know this about our work service that we provide, the few leads we did receive from HA were all BOGUS. ALL leads supplied to us being furnished us by HA were peeps looking for spring clean ups, lawn fertilization, bush trimming, never were what we do, nor signed ourselves up for. NOw I had to have my secretary waste her precious time if only to call these leads HA sent us to learn this leads are not valid. Next we had to call HA and get someone live on the phone at HA headquarters if only to tell them their leads beig sent to us are not valid and need to be credited back to us so that we unecesarily are not charge $25 per lead generation fee.

HA resells same identical leads to other similarly situatuted contractors to boot!

In addition my secretary spent inordinant amounts of her precious work time over the phone with HA if only to obtain a credit being issued back to ourselves each and every time we received a non valid lead from HA which was all leads furnished, never were they valid! We had to callHA back needlesssly 6 times., wasted not less than 1.5 o rmore of my secretaries time. This now became a burden, being such a waste of time. Once we finaly obtained our bank statemet 4/14 for the original subscription fee charge, we discovered HA charged us a lot more then the original $297 we first were quoted over thephone for cost of subscription. Now I had to call HOME ADVISOR AGAIN to asked why the discrepcny? I was being told by HA accounting the exrta additional fees was added for NYS sales tax, yet this is an internet biz company located In Colorado and has no physical offices located within NYS. why tax? When I challenged HA to provide us with proof of authority for themselves to be collecting NYS sales tax from Colorado, they fell silent. In succession over next 6 days I sent not less than 6 emails to Jason Hill at HA in follow up each time demanding they provide and furnsih us proof of their NYS Sales TAX certificate of authority, HA either failed or refused to ever honor my serial email requests.

Next I called to speak with customer service to demand full refund since obviously their service does not work nor are leads they supplied us working for us. We canceled our service in writing and demanded a refund in full for all money spent with them. Upon speaking with Kerri (?) at HA I was told NO REFUNDS!. NEXT I demanded to speak to a manger and got Lillian, I asked Lillian to provide me with all the names of the owners of HA, only she refused to provide me with this information. I told her very unhappy, I said " IF I DO NOT GET MY MONEY REFUNDED IN FULL ,I AM REPORTING THEM TO THE COLORADO STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL"S OFFICE AND BBB. Next she told me the money will be refund back to my cc originally used, will take 14 days ...more BS, why so long a wait to refund CC, normally takes 3 minutes if that. NOw we wait and see if actually we get our money refund back. STAY AWAY FROM HA ********, THEY ARE REALLY BAD NEWS, if ever there is a class action suit to be instigatd against HOME ADVISOR, count me in! What scumbags!

On HomeAdvisor.com you can search for a "Trusted Home Improvement Pro". Next there is a quote from a woman that states, "Home Advisor is a secure way to find a trusted contractor. THEY ALLOW ME TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE BRINGING SOMEONE INTO YOUR HOME".

YET ON Home Advisor's TERMS AND CONDITIONS! They state that, "THEY DO NOT DO BACKGROUND CHECKS!' Nor do they make any kind of preresentation that the provider is licesned reputable or even garranteed!

After I was SCREWED TWICE by two companies I FOUND ON HOME ADVISOR, I left NEGATIVE FEEDBACK and after a month of waiting I left negative feedback once again. NONE OF MY CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK WAS EVER POSTED.

After thinking something is not right with Home Advisor, I CONTACTED THEM AS A BUSINESS REQUESTING A LISTING.

THE ONLY REQUIREMENTS TO HAVE YOUR BUSINESS LISTED ON HOME ADVISOR IS BY PAYING THEM MONEY!

DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. TO VERIFY THAT HOME ADVISOR IS A SCAM READ THEIR OWN LIES AND DISCOVER THE TRUTH BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

First, check out all the claims Home Advisor makes on their home page: http://www.homeadvisor.com

Second, read Home Advisors "terms and conditions" located here: http://www.homeadvisor.com/servlet/TermsServlet

HomeAdvisor.com is nothing more than a marketing website that allows people and businesses to scam the public!

Sales claims you will get at least 3 leads a week and charges between 18-27 dollars per lead. They charge you 300 up front and then refuse to refund when leads sent are for the completely wrong industry. We are a pool service company based in Las Vegas yet we got leads for az and state line which is 2 hours away. The final straw was a lead that stated it was an exact match for our pool service company....... Kitchen tile cleaning and sealing!!!!! When approached about this issue they blamed us for not using the proper wording for our pool service ads! Don't waste your money just throw business cards into the wind will have about the same effect if not more productive !

Home Advisor says it gives acurate reviews on home related service and repair companies similar to Angies list and their services are free to the consumer.

No independent company doesen't get money from someone. The someone is the service provider your getting the review on. Therefore you may see one bad review but numerous good ones because home advisor won't allow more than 1 bad review on a company unless there are over 50 good reviews than you might see 2 bad reviews.

People don't believe their ( reviews ) These are not accurate reviews on their service providers they reccomend. They reccomended a company to me that had an d Angies list review and a C Better Business Bureau Review with numerous complaints

I had a terrible experience with a plumber who is listed at homeadvisor. I filled out a detailed report of my experience, including all of the relevant information about the transaction.

I checked the homeadvisor page for this plumber a few weeks later - to my surprise, my review wasn't posted and did not affect the provider's rating Currently listed as 4.46 stars out of five).

I went through the process again, submitting all of the same information. Again, it wasn't posted - but a review was added between the time of my two submissions, which gave this same provider a five-star rating.

It seems clear that homeadvisor is picking and choosing reports to make its listed providers look good. Terrible practice for a review site.
