Whatever you do, stay far away from this company and its associated companies. I called this company about 6 bags of my clothing that were damaged in wetness and mold, a lot of items being socks and boxers, maybe a handful of items that were $100 or more, that I needed to be cleaned. They said they would send someone to come pick up my items to take photos of them and let me know a quote on how much the cleaning would be. I asked about how much it might be, I said $500? $1,000? The woman who was helping me told me "something like that, it's expensive." I was told I would have photos and a quote in one day. There weren't many items, I could have probably taken a photo of them in one hour. Next thing I knew I was sent a $3,000 bill JUST for them coming to pick up my clothes. My clothes were not even worth that much, they made the pickup seem like a courtesy. If they would have advised me of the $3,000 to pick up 6 trash bags of clothes, I would have obviously declined. I truly feel I was kept in the dark from the beginning in regard to the fees and the time this process would take. They know that once they have your stuff and start the work, you have no choice but to pay them.
On the daily I reached out to them, asking about my clothes and if they were being worked on, I was told they were working on other jobs and they would get to them shortly. I kept hearing I would have photos and a quote "today", and "tomorrow". I even asked them just to give me my clothes back, which they did not do. Ten days from the day they picked up my clothes I was sent photos and a $7,500 bill for storage and photos of my items. The cleaning hadn't even started yet. I was completely left in the dark about the cost and time involved. My clothes consisted of socks, boxers, and some jackets, all of the items not even coming close to being worth $7,500. BEWARE.
The worst part is my Father who passed away, gave me two of his jackets before he died, the jackets were two of the items in the trash bags. The jackets were meant for me to feel like my Father is hugging me even though he isn't with us anymore. Home Design Contents Restoration is refusing to give me his jackets back until I pay them the money. They are literally all I have left of my dead Father and now they are sitting in mold and damage until I come up with the money.
I did not contact Home Design; they were let in by a worker from Water Damage Rescue which I did hire. The papers Home Design decietful had me sign had Travelers Insurance as the billing party 4/21/16. They did not inform me that it wasnt approved by travelers. My unit was damaged and there were workers all over the place; I was not explained anything. Then on 5/3, 5/4,5/5,5/6 and 5/7 Home Design took everthing from two bedrooms and upstairs living room. I asked several times to speak with Orlando; secretary always stated he is on anthoer line. I asked repeatly when our stuff would be returned and was told that their is a bill to be paid BUT never recieved one. In fact I got a detailed bill that was forwared to me from Ori of Water Damage and Rescue. The bill is outrageous ! it is over $24,000 . On May 5 it shows that Home design took over 55 hours to remove 36 boxes. Why did it take 5 day sto move out two bedrooms.I went with my wife on 6/17/16 to speak with someone in person. Kara said we can not get our stuuf without a payment plan. Please note that this $24,000 does not include bring the stuff back. When asking about the high charges she said taht is what we charge.
