Shawn Christopher Menefee, the so-called Manager of Application Refinery Operations at HollyFrontier Corporation in downtown Dallas, Texas did knowingly, intentionally and maliciously provide fraudulent information and false facts to the Human Resources department of aforementioned company in order to terminate Bo Chen’s employment under the false-flag pretenses of “misconduct” for the specific purpose of exacting vengeful revenge to unlawfully retaliate against Chen for having reported Menefee’s wrongdoings at the company.
The HR rationale for terminating Chen’s employment was that Chen had been warned on November 8th and 10th 2021 not to use his p-card (company credit card) for non-business purposes. Menefee wrote to HR and materially misrepresented the facts. In actuality it was Manager Menefee himself that instructed Chen to reclassify personal expenses as company expenses by coming up with a false justification and that he would approve of it.
He specifically told Chen not to classify them as a personal expense because he did not want Chen to have to write a check to the treasury. Later Menefee would intentionally lie to HR about this and pin it on Chen in order to conjure up a false pretense and some ill-conceived “justification” to terminate Chen with prejudice and to furthermore attempt to deny Chen of unemployment benefit claims.
Late 2021 in around December the VP of the IT group Mr. Andrew Ashby held a “one on one” so-called Skip-Level meeting with everyone in his department, and Menefee was especially anxious about whether or not Chen had already had the meeting with Ashby and asked him in the elevator what they might have talked about etc. During this one-on-one meeting with the VP, Chen spilled the beans and recounted to Ashby that back when the Kim Stroud hadn’t yet succumb to the COVID, one day when Menefee took Chen and Stroud out to lunch, while driving back to work in the parking lot with the three of them in the car, Menefee tried to get Chen and Stroud to go up to Ashby to tell Andrew that he was not fit to be a CIO and to stop dreaming about getting Joe’s spot…
Menefee felt that he was being singled out (others around him like Sarah whom he actually sat in a shared office together were all getting promoted to Director left and right but just not him) and that it was his stupid comment to Andrew saying that Andrew wasn’t fit to be CIO that had cost him his own promotion to directorship… so he wanted to get some of his subordinate subjugates to make the same stupid remark in order that he would look less stupid. Later Ashby stated he will have to “have a talk with Shawn” and then the following year Menefee started making preparations to terminate Chen.
The gloves were off, so to speak, once Menefee had discovered that Chen had tipped off Michael Mai and told him of Ashby’s intent to have Chad Leslie replace him in BI or worse to have Mai subjugated under Leslie… Mai used to work under CIO Joe Fronzaglio when Joe was Internal Audit Director before Joe got promoted to CIO after the previous CIO that brought in his own gang (ie Ashby and Elam and crew etc) got canned for Theft of Trade Secrets (or so according to Menefee’s story) and even entailed Ashby’s laptop getting forensically examined as if he were implicated in a crime.
But Mai turned to Joe his CIO savior and escaped the Ashby Trap all due to Chen’s tip off, a tip off that would never have happened had Menefee not sat Leslie right next to Chen to ask Chen to train Leslie on the sysadmin side of things, and Leslie subsequently running his big loud mouth about what he was going to do about Mai once the new BI team formed and they put Mai under Leslie…
After that, after Menefee knew Chen was the leak that caused Shawn much shame with Andrew, and spoiled their plans, Menefee never even pretended to put on the pretense of cordiality anymore, in Menefee’s mind Chen had betrayed him to help out a fellow Chinaman and he was going to f*ck with Chen one way or another.
Menefee’s MO or Modus Operandi was to hire foreigners onto his team in an oil and refinery culture where it was still largely “the good old boys club” and where he identified himself as a member of that club. Menefee was extremely pro-Trump and he often sang praises of his hometown Senator the “We Lied, We Cheated, We Stole” Pompeo… So Menefee was by no means a soft hearted CRT/BLM supporting liberal who actually believed in inclusion and diversity, but rather he was strategically clever and conniving in hiding under the false pretense of plausible deniability by using and perverting the cover of diversity and inclusion to hire a slew of cultural misfits (in the context of the true environment at HollyFrontier) all so in order that he can pit them against each other, in a sort of sadistic divide and conquer manner where he as the puppet master of controlled-opposition would instigate mis-feelings between members of different cultural backgrounds that he himself hired, for the overarching purpose of making sure none of his subordinates ever become a threat to him in regards to his own job security, standing and career climbing ambitions at the company.
When Chen figured out what Menefee was all about, and later when Chen refused to do unethical and other questionable things at the behest of Menefee (including having to be forced to lie to audit/asset departments) that is when Menefee flipped and realized if he couldn’t control and subjugate Chen in the manner that he so desired then he was going to do the next best thing which was to concoct a series of lies in order to cook up the pretext to falsely justify a termination and to also make sure Chen would also never be able to get unemployment nor a good reference thereafter.
