I lived in a government subsidised apartment. On Nov. 1, 2019, Tammy Thompson, the apartment manager did a walk through with me and we both signed the form for me to receive my deposit of $362.00 back and I wrote my new address for it to be mailed to. In Dec.
I called Tammy to see where my deposit was and she said she would check. She got back to me and said it was mailed out on Nov. 21. She said she would have to do a stop payment and would be taking that out of the deposit amount. The next day, I received a check for $107.00. She had deducted $125.00 for cleaning and $100.00 for painting.
I had lived there 9 years! I cleaned that appartment extrememly well, left no trash, and there was no damage. I even took pictures in case she did this! I have proof . (Photos to be added at a later time, not sure how to do it)
When I called and asked her why I didn't get my full refund, she said there was alot of cleaning that had to be done, and the walls had to be painted. I told her they painted every apartment when someone moved out, and that I cleaned that apartment thouroughly .
She got aggivated with me and said thats just what her manager said. I've made attempts to reach her manager with no success. After talking with other people who moved out, I've found out they have done this to everyone!
They know people who live there can't affort to take them to court, so they keep getting away with it! I have a feeling if they got audited, there would be some major discrepancies! Somebody needs to correct this situation! They are taking advantage of the elderly, disabled and low income people and getting government funding on top of it!
