We reserved 2 rooms at the Hilton for 3 days and 2 nights. Before we even made it to our room, I got a bank alert that I had a charge from them in the amount of 251.14. I called the front desk and a so-called Manager came to my room to explain and to give me the missing phone for my room. He attempted to explain the pending charges but I told him this is a bank account and that money is NOT available to me. I asked him specifically if there would be anymore charges, he said no.
The very next morning I get another bank alert saying the charge is now 355.14! I asked my mother to check her account and they had charged more on hers. We went down to the front desk to resolve this issue. While we were waiting another couple was disputing a no show charge even after they had checked in! We asked for the manager and Timothy Pritchett, the General Manager looked at our room accounts.
My mother's additional charge was due to changing the credit card that was on file. My situation was not explained so easily. I was charged a 250.00 smoking fee AND the price of the room for one day. I said I haven't smoked in the room. He said he would have some check and that charge could be removed. I stressed the question of if my card would be charged tomorrow. He said no. He gave us a complimentary dinner that evening.
The next morning, check out day, another bank alert stating the amount changed to 461.14! I was told this would not happen again. At this point I'm done, plus we are checking out.
We get to the front desk and my mother is explaining what happened and getting clarification of what will be the final charge. When it is my turn, I ask why you are charging my debit card every day?!! He had no answer for that. The same pending transaction among & dance. My anger is at its peak. I said I will not be paying another dime for this checkout. Give me my final bill because I have to leave. I said I will not stay at another Hilton again and your reviews from me will horrible. I left the hotel.
At this point there is only a pending transaction of 461.14 on my card. I was going to wait until the transaction cleared and address it with my bank. Well, the next morning I reviewed my account and its overdrawn by 420.01! They ran a second transaction in addition to the first! Now I have no funds available. The first transaction has cleared. But I'm the one suffering the consequences.
I am not wealthy. I live paycheck to paycheck. I'm a disabled veteran that has to struggle until my next payday.
PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD for this hotel. You will be broke before you even check out!
