Hernandez Construction or Edward Hernandez began our kitchen remodel in May of 2017. It is now mid July 2018 and both our backyard and kitchen are not completed. Edward is very persistent and charming when he needs money and will almost harrass you for a check. Once we gave in he would go dark and not answer phone calls or texts for days.
He does eventually call or text you back but it's always with a big excuse. His truck has broken down, his phone broke or something with his daughter. Edward had completed about 50% of our kitchen and backyard remodel last year and since his truck was broken and some other sob story he HAD to have a check for $15,000 to pay for the cabinets, new hood vent, wood for the fence, insulation for the attic and a few other items. He didn't return our calls for over 4 months and finally resurfaced claiming Social Services confiscated all his money because he had't ever paid his child support - I actually did believe that one because it fits his personality.
Edward also scammed our neighbor who needed a new pool light installed. He charged her $600 for a $240 light and never showed up or returned a call again. My neighbor just blew it off but since I'm out thousands of dollars I thought it would be helpful if I save someone else from his scam. Edward seems like a great guy and is likeable. He tells you what you want to hear and if you're persistent he will send his young son over by himself to do a few BS tasks so you feel like he's actually going to follow through.
We would have filed this complaint much sooner but we gave him the benefit of the doubt and felt bad. At this point we just want others to be informed and hopefully this saves one of you some money. If you do hire Hernandez Construction do NOT pay him until the job is completed CORRECTLY. I can tell many stories and will be cleaning his mess up for awhile. Hopefully he sees this and rights the ship but I'm not holding my breath. After the 10th time giving him another chance I'm exhausted and done.
