I saw Hem on a Sunday via Amwell. I told Hem what my symptoms were via a video conference we had. I had been sick since the Wednesday before. I was still having cold sweats from a a fever, weakness, tired, and here's my issue. My tonsil or lymphnode was misshapen and swollen to about 2/3 of my fist. Swallowing even liquids was painful. I was chewing gum to keep saliva flowing to dull the pain. The swelling had placed pressure on my eye and inner ear. This infection had also begun to bother my gums and tissue in my mouth. Painful to brush my teeth or eat anything with texture beyond warm oatmeal. I told him I was a union bricklayer and was in good health otherwise but my digestive system was a little sensitive to strong antibiotics. He asked if penicillin was ok, I conceded. Once I picked up my prescription I realized I was going to try and treat one the most aggressive infections I've had as an adult with the first approved antibiotics, in 500mg dose form. Whatever this is is not from 1950 or even 1980. I don't make regular use of antibiotics so I can still use them in the future but the antibiotic that every bacteria has had the chance to build an immunity to is certainly not the choice. I woke in the morning and my mouth, tongue, and gums had gotten worse. Even my oatmeal was hurting to eat. I emailed him telling him my symptoms yet again and telling him they'd increased in intensity. I questioned the use of the first antibiotic to treat what I considered for myself an aggressive infection. Im still as swollen in my lympbodes. The pressure in my ear and eye has not subsided. I dont think penecillin is the right choice. Quite frankly I am wondering why the first antibiotic ever is what you are going to treat this infection with? I can'teat without pain in my throat or mouth, especially around my teeth. I'm not giving this anymore time. I need something thats going to take care of this so i can go back to my life. I cant earn a living in this condition. Im going to move quickly on this matter.
