I believed that since I had experience interviewing another sell insurance to seniors type of company that was a sam and didn't pay its agents. I know you shouldn't pay to ge a job, however hm advised us the training fees don't go to them directly it goes to the State? But my $59 dollar fee receipt went to InSphere / HealthMarkets Ins Agency Onboarding Admin Fee, which made me wonder. OK I get it you have to pay fees and class training in order to be an insurance agent. But I felt preyed upon as an unemployed person and that they had confidence in me and I'd easily make my money back. On top of that 59 bucks fee, there is a class fee to take (part of the hiring process) but again doens't that not seem legit?
One shouldn't have to pay to get a job. A company usually pays to train its people, that's been my experience. They told us there were no refunds and you'd have to pay these fees, class fees if you were doing this on your own. I think in the state of CA, there is a colling off period for merchandise (don't know about classes/fees). I felt desperate for work and that I could sell insurance so I stupidly signed and paid. However, I destest selling and felt that I can't survive on commission type of work, so I backed out. I though I asked to get out, back out soon enough and couldn't they at least refund half my money? No they refused. No cooling off period allowed. I felt a potential employee should be able to change their mind, esp.
if there are other more solid opprotunites rather than sales coming your way. Then before I knew it, they shut me out when legally I still had time to go ahead and take the course (at least have an insurance agent license, get something for my money). I feel duped and ripped off. Note: within the first month I made my decision not to accept this sales position, tried to get my money back (class was another cost in addition to the $59, can't recall exact amt). I noticed they were sending me blank, no link emails about the training info AFTER I PAID, which made me feel like they were shutting me out anyways. Strange. All I want is all or some of my money back. They are nice people and seem more legit than Bancorp, ZocoMarketing and these other places that tried to interview/recruit me. Won't get fooled again!
On 20 July 2015, I answered a request from their recruiter Anne to come in and see a presentation on why working for HealthMarkets is a great opportunity. I was looking for something that would use my talents and experience. I returned and pay $297 with a start date of 27 July 2015.
Unfortunately, I was unable to start on the following Monday, due to other commitments. I was told that Bubi G would be my Sales Leader. He met with me and told me that with all the experience and knowledge that he felt that I would NOT be a good candidate. Already I had been judged. I was wondering why I should start with this company. I should have listened to my gut.
I began on 3 August 2015, Bubi told me that I needed to be on Team conference calls every Thursday evening, that he would send me instructions and the link for that meeting. I was at HealthMarkets every day and that notice never came. Also, about four days later, the Team was informed that Bubi had an emergency back home (Serbia) regarding his mother and that he would be gone for 6 weeks.
I had difficulty fitting in since I did not own a computer (Windows-based) only I-Macs. I was told that there were other agents that had been able to work with I-Macs. That turned out to be false.
I was told to complete all the Pre-Act instructions and that once I attending a 4-day ACT class it would all fall into place. I did attend that course and met some other individuals with the same expectation as mines. We were told that Johnny would provide us with Leads and we were expected to sell an insurance product within our 13-weeks. I still hadn't quite grasp what the opportunity was and where these Leads would come as, paper or online LIVE leads.
Also, I met Stacy Iseminger, Medicare Mama, she held the post of putting together a team of agents to sell Medicare. Since I had over 10 years experience - I asked her how can I be consider on this opportunity. She informed me that only Johnny could make that determination. What happened after that was very upsetting: "On 28 August 2015, an agent came over to me and told me to "shut-up" - that I was too loud. I felt embarrass since I am hearing impaired and I cannot tell that I am speaking loud.
On Monday, 7 Sept 2015, another agent came over to my computer and shut the door. I was trying to close the program because it was beeping. That agent later apologize. The agent that yelled at me heard me speaking Spanish and asked me if I would speak to her on an opportunity in Modesto - she needed a Spanish-speaking agent to work with her. I answered her and let her know that I would be available if she needed an interpreter.
It was just a chaos office to work in - I was ridicule by the ladies who confronted me and Stacy. It was like a "girls club." "Let's see if we could upset a new agent."
When Bubi returned to work, I was told to give him time to organize; I did, however, Bubi asked me if I had any appointments. I told him yes - he asked me to show him my appointments. He told me it was wrong. He than gave me a form to complete. I completed the form. On 28th Sept 2015, we were suppose to come in for a Mandatory meeting. I arrived 10 minutes late - Bubi grab me by the neck and pushed me forward and slap me on the back. I was stun.
Later that day, he asked to reschedule Tuesday appt to another day - the prospect did not want to reschedule therefore he assigned another agent who only agenda was to take the lead from me. This had happened before with Stacy. I had been trying to contact Johnny, via e-mail and text; I called but no one answered the phone. When I arrived on the day of my Medicare appointment, Johnny told me to ask Stacy - who then reprimanded me for not asking her 48 hours before. Since I had no chain of command, I thought that utimately, Johnny could make those decisions. I met with Stacy who than informed me that she would give me $50 for the lead and that I could attend that meeting.
When UHC came in, and informed the entire office of how much commission each Medicare application was worth, Stacy could NOT face me. During this meeting, I was in a follow-up ACT course and had to continued it because of the Medicare UHC presentation. I made a comment which was taken out-of-content. I asked where the "Food" was - I was teasing and the UHC representative also felt that I was teasing. Bubi took offense to it - and told me to see him in his office - he informed me that statement was inappropriate.
On 28 Sept 2015, another agent was assigned named Gordon, he was always testing anyone who spoke another language than English. I was told to meet with him and go over the prospect's needs.
On 29th Sept 2015, I came in to prepare for the appointment, I was asked to meet with Johnny and Bubi, in which case they relieved me from my contract. It was apparently clear to me that we were communicating, since on various events, I had informed Johnny Pineda that I felt abandoned. That I was not given a chance to succeed. I asked on various ocassions where the leads were - instead I was given leads that were 3-5 years old. I was later informed from my colleagues that they had received LIVE Leads. I felt that it was important to get leads so that I can make my own success - I paid $550 to Leads AM and later I asked for that month be returned. Since I am longer with Health Markets I think it is important to note that they go through Agents like water. They make it impossible for agents to make a living and this needs to STOP. I want my money back. I also still receive e-mails from HealthMarkets and that too is confusing. What am I suppose to do with them?
