Harold Bishop, AKA Stay Dry Roofing and HB Construction out of Greenville, SC gave us 2 estimates after being referred by a realtor's client. He noted he was very busy and in order to get on the list, would require a $1900.00 for both roofing repair and plumbing repair.
He was repeatedly contacted and only rarely called back to set a date, only to not show up. This repeated over 6 times over the 2 months. He never called to cancel and never answered direct calls.
He lied and noted he was licensed; and we checked with the state and BBB and he was not licensed.
Requests for refund have been left unanswered. He was sweet talking/ quick on the excuse list; such as truck breaking down, being unexpectedly out of town and said he had a stroke. He did come to the house with his son and could have called any of the times to cancel.
As a physician, I questioned his symptoms and he did not seem to have the right answers for a stroke. He just said, "I was stupid in not taking my blood pressure medicine!" When I finally spoke to him he said he was "not right in the head" and "my medication is not working properly" nor did have his wife or kid call.
He is a con man, so please don't fall victim to his talents. He did note he works in Virginia, NC and South Carolina.
