Connie Bennett of Anchorage Alaska has an extensive history of ripping off people by listing her properties through VRBO. Last August I fell into her trap when my 6 year old and his mom and I made our first ever travel arrangement through Connie Bennett's listing on VRBO # 80993. I wish I had read rip off report because she had perpetrated the same scam on two different people who made her thieving ways public on Rip Off report. She will send you e mails from [email protected] under pseudonyms and will have a fake overseas Ph no trying to pretend some absent European owner of the vacation Rental. She will reel you in by pretending to be a concerned grandma who leaves cookies for her guests and how she see's mama bears down the street and birds and flowers eveywhere till you send her the check, in my case of 1878$ and once she cashes the check she will go silent. When contacted she gets rude in her e mails, blames you for not filling out paperwork in a timely fashion, mind you while she cashed the check long time ago and in a classic bait and switch scheme will tell you she may have another vacation rental available but 3000$ have to be wired within a few hours. Anyways she has been reported to the Attorney General's office of Consumer protection by me and she is refusing to answer their letters and they have advised me to take her to court. She has refused court order summons but I will get her because she has ripped off one too many people. The VRBO pukes are no help. VRBO is owned by Homeaway and I think ultimately by EXPEDIA. They are only interested in charging a hefty amount for these listings and nothing else. Please do not do any business with VRBO or Expedia since there are better reputable alternatives available and if you have to do business with them ,do it through an Escrow account or paypal and dont send money directly to the vacation rental owner.
