On 3-21-2014, I had my starter repaired by Hart Motor Company in Salem, VA for $424.04. I went there because my 2007 Saturn Ion was on safety recall for the ignition switch, and I was hoping my starting problems were with the ignition switch. Hart Motor Company told me it was the Starter. I don't trust Hart Motor Company. I have gone there 3 other times for safety recalls on my car, and all they seemed to care about was making as much as they can from their customers. They repaired the Starter Kit, and 15 months later I started having the same starting problems.
On 6-17-2005, I took my Saturn Ion to Brandon Automotive. I have dealt with Brandon Automotive for 12 years, and they are honest people. Kevin Vest-Co-Owner of Brandon Automotive told me my starter needed to be replaced. I told him I had had it done 15 months ago. He called Hart Motor Company, and the Hart Motor Company Service Department told him since it was over the 12 month warranty period, I would have to pay for a new starter. Brandon Automotive fixed my Starter for $342.64. I called Mr. Danny Hart-co-owner of Hart Motor Company on 6-17-2015. Mr. Hart told me it was "highly unusual" for a new Starter to be replaced in 15 months, but if I had brought it to them-they could have worked "something out" with the Advance Auto Parts to credit some of my money back to me. I told Mr. Hart why would I bring my vehicle back to them, when they had messed it up the first time. Mr. Hart's statement did not coincide with his Service Department. Mr. Sean Kelley-Service Department Manager was very rude to me on 6-17-2015. He stated I would have to pay the full price to re-repair my Starter Kit. I contacted the Attorney General's Office on 6-18-2015 to file a claim against Hart Motor Company, Advance Auto Parts, and the Saturn Corporation.
Ms. Shannon Tilley from Advance Auto Parts stated that I was Hart Motor Company's customer, and I should contact them for reimbursement. Ms. Christina Ell from Chevrolet Business Center offfered me a $100.00 maintenance certificate-which has never been delivered to me. Ms. Ell refuses to return my calls. I firmly believe Hart Motor Company put in a used/rerfurbished Starter Kit back on 3-21-2014-or else they did a sloppy/unprofessional job in repairing my Starter Kit.
Mr. Hart refused to give me any of my money back to repay Brandon Automotive the $342.64 that I owe them. Brandon Automotive repaired my Starter Kit on my credit. Mr. Kevin Vest from Brandon Automotive told me he never would have charged me for a new Starter Kit which he had replaced 15 months before, Mr. Vest told the Attorney General's Office "that is not how we do things here. That is not a way to keep our business"
I lost my case with the Attorney General's Office against these 3 companies-who all refused to help me. I hold Hart Motor Company primarily responsible for this unprofessional mess. They placed the Starter Kit in my vehicle, and 15 months later it gave out.
TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS: Hart Motor Company is a Sharkish, unprofessional company who does terrible repair work, won't work at all with their customers, and just seem to be extremely greedy for money. PLEASE AVOID HART MOTOR COMPANY.
