Harry Ritchie's Jewelers Reviews

  • Jul 27, 2017

I called this Harry Ritchie's on a Friday. I had found a ring online that I had fallen in love with! I asked the girl who's name I believe was Jessica, ff they had it in the store. She said no but would have if overnight shipped to their store and I could come in the next day at one and check it out. I was surprised they could get it that fast but I was so excited. I showed up to the store at 1:00 pm which is the time we set the appointment for. The girl we had the appointment with went on break at that time! So no one else would help us and we had to come back. When we got there she started showing us every ring EXCEPT the one I had talked to her about. She said there was no way to have gotten it to the store that fast and acted like I was ridiculous for even thinking so. Even though that's what she had told me the night before. I told her the style I wanted and looked at a few, and she still kept giving me rings to try that weren't close to what I was looking for. Super frustrating. Everything I asked she had an incorrect answer or no answer for or tried to sugar coat everything, or just lied. We ran my credit to see if I could finance a ring that I had settled on finally. I asked questions about things on the contract that she was asking me to sign and she couldn't even answer them. After running my credit and telling me I was approved, I learned that I would pay a down payment, be charged interest but COULDNT TAKE THE RING HOME!!! Is this legal? To charge interest on a layaway? I wouldn't buy a car, pay on it for years, interest and all and not be able to take possession of it. My husband who has an existing account there had them run his credit, which apparently they have to do after so many months to see what you qualify for. So that was fine. My husband has decent credit and his offer was the same as mine. His credit score is well over 700, but he too had to wait until the ring was paid off to take possession of it. They told me this was in-house financing and that they approve everybody when I first spoke with her. But never any mention about not actually getting a ring until it's paid off. The whole experience was so frustrating. She lied a lot, didn't know what she was talking about, cared nothing about our needs or how soon we needed the ring, only about selling ANYTHING at all. I won't go back ever again.
