I attended HCI back in 2004, in Ewing NJ. I took the Dental Assistant course. That program in particular was not accredited at the time. During the entire curriculum, they repeatedly told the class that it would be accredited by the end of the course. This never happened!
I did complete the course and was never able to acquire a job in that field. I dont believe anyone else from the class was able to either! Now all these years later I'm still fighting with Dept of Edu and Direct Loan for repayment of what I feel was a "bogus" school that just used me as a pawn to embezzle money from the government.
I took out student loans to attendant HCI they had told of how wonderful the medical assistant program was, lifetime job placement and continued education if anything had changed or been updated in the field we had the awesome ability to comeback for a refereher course at any time well this was 14 years ago and within two years so 12 years ago they closed there doors for good, due to financial problems. My taxes have been taken and I have been held fully responsible even while going through many hardships and I am not working in the field I went to HCI for because it is not an accredited school so it was worthless and I have no degree but a ton of debt and negative remarks on my credit! I recently heard of the judgement against devry and I want to know why can't the victims of the HCI scam have the same happen! What can I do I need help, I am the single mother of two teenagers and I can't continue to have my money stolen and my credit tarnished!!
Harrison Career Institute made too many promises and it was all lies. I was told that i will acquire a great education with a job waiting for me and get my certifications , however all was not true. They received the financial aid I was approved for and my credit is ruined. I called the financial aid and they said they can't help me and for me to pay it off right away. I was promised a job after graduation however no work was available. Employer refuse to hire anyone from Harrison Career Institute because it has a bad reputation and the school not creditable. The school was shut down due to foreclosure and the owners were gong through a divorce. I'm stuck paying for a school that I can't even get a job in that field and I can't further my education because of this loan. I had to take out to attend that school.
I was devistated and felt so upset cause I was really looking forward to get a job so now $15,000+ lost I felt like my world was closed on me. I spent the following years researching making phone calls on how to resolve this, however no one was there to help. Financial aid don't care about peoples life at its destruction peak. My credit its shot I can't go back to school cause I owe already and I am a single mother struggling to live and throuh this financial crisis I am against the wall. I blame HCI for everything that has happened they destroyed my life and they should be punished to the full extent of the law. So I Really hope the government looks into this and help all of us who have gotten ripped off and their lives ripped apart.. I really hope there is help out there.
I went to this school in 2004-2005 and was taught NOTHING! The "teacher" was an older women who knew nothing and went outside to smoke most of the class. We were basically sitting there having our own conversations. When I tried to ask questions, I was told to read the "book". Have of the students did not have books as we all shared most of the time. The school eventually closed down and I have NOTHING to show for it except a HUGE student loan I am still repaying!!!!!
One year they even took my income tax return due to non payment of a "student loan" where I have no transcripts, no credits, and no education I can show for. This was the WORST "school". I just applied for an online college degree and trying to find my transcripts is a huge pain!
They told me I got like $20 in financial aid & forced me to take another loan by a private company. As I finished the program the FBI raided the school & eveything got shut down. I couldn't even take my exams because they lost accreditation.
Here that second company was owned by the guy who owned the school & they were pocketing the financial aid people got & forcing them into these high interest loans thru that company. They wasted all that time AND I'm still paying back my student loans thru the government.
