The first visit was actually good and I was very pleased with their services. The result of this visit was to be continued at a later date giving me an opportunity to consider options. The way the options were presented to me, it seemed that putting down my cat was the best way, but I was reluctant to killing my cat. So I waited. Good thing I waited. It turns out their answers were WRONG. My cat is doing fine. I would have killed my cat for nothing.
For the past 20 years in Florida I had many vets throughout various places. Some were better than others, a very few were super excellent, competent vets.
This place here turned out to be extremely incompetent. At first you don't catch it because you are stricken with grief as you contemplate the best options for your pet.
This location does not seem to understand how stressful it is for people to grapple with this feeling of helplessness. We go to vets to help our pets. To give is the best solutions. We assume they are pro animal. It turns out this place is pro money and heartless when it comes to your pet if they do not like you.
That's what happened to me. Because I absolutely rejected their attempts to add unnecessary tests, the "manager" didn't like me anymore. She said I was being rude. From that point on, my experience was a circus.
Example: The doctor said to give my cat a dosage of 5 and 2.5 per day. The pills are tiny and impossible to split in half. So they make them in 5 and 2.5. The doctor promised me 5 and 2.5 doses of 60 pills each. When I arrived to pick them up the "manager" decided I only needed the 5. So I challenged her on it. I said the doctor said blah blah blah... she goes no, I know what was said, you are to give 5 and 50% of another 5. WOW! I said to her you just rejected what I said then proceed to argue with me and say exactly the same thing. So I asked her - how am I supposed to split that tiny circulare pill into 50%?
All of a sudden you could tell the wheels began to turn in her head. She returns and says, okay I will give you the 2.5 in the same quantity as the 5. So, 60 and 60. Perfect I think to myself. What a terrible path to reach this. I am stressing over my pet and this "manager" decides to exercise her power by challenging me.
Anyway she comes out with the pills and I asked her, 60 each right? She looks at the bottles and says yes.
I arrive home and the 2.5 were only 30. So I called them back. When I asked the manager why she lied to me, she went silent. You could tell she did not know how to respond.
Anyway it doesn't matter about all my details. The manager is a child and can't handle the pressures of this job. When I had my second appointment, I validated my appointment with someone in the office, yet 15 minutes before my appointment as I pulled into the parking lot, the manager called me and seemed a bit upset I did not validate my appointment. I told her, "I don't know who I spoke with but I called and validated my appointment" - she said well I don't have that information - I told her I do not care it is not my problem nor my job to handle their internal communications.
From this point is when everything went sideways. This is a new office. My cat would have been killed unjustly. Thank God I did not take their advice. My second cat they tried to get more fees which was very ironic cause the first appointment the doctor did everything to save me money. It's like the manager and doctor are opposites.
The doctor is very nice, and she gave me some considerations in respect to both cats. But I can't help feeling they have a long way to go to be as good of a vet as other established vets. By the way - 4 other vets in the area disagreed with this approach, including the vet that originally recommended me to this location. That vet had no room at the time.
As long as you do not make the manager upset at all, you should be fine for pets that are not critical with their health. For that they are fine. I don't think they are very expensive, that area does cost more. But overall this place ia a joke. They did not deliver on the promises they made.
Do NOT go to this VET. There are a zillion vets that work there and no one writes any notes on your pets chart. We took our dog Frankie there & saw Vet J Keefe on 11/29/2018 Thursday for Arthritis in his hind legs. She drew his blood and his liver levels were high. We found out that he has a thyroid problem because he's an old dog. Okay Office Visit $57, She gave him Gabapentin Capsules 300mg for his thyroid (28 capsules=$15.05. Apha Vets charge online $12.32 for these same amts (rip off #1). Senior dog Comprehensive workup a whopping $140 bucks=$212.05. Which I paid.
Then on Nov 30th, 2018 Friday We were charged another $100 for a Blood test for the dog administered by another vet M SINGH who told my partner that since the liver levels are high they wanted to bring the dog in again to test his liver. That was supposed to be for the week after in Dec 2018. Dr Singh also charged us for thyroid meds 28 for 2 weeks at 300mgs-$28.65 that charge came through on my credit card on Dec 2nd, 2018 Sunday.
Then On Dec 5, 2018 Wed we brought him in and dropped him off with yet another vet named Dr Gwon, who had seen him before several years ago when he had an abscess on his neck and she helped him. Before leaving our dog with this animal hospital we called and talked to 3 separate doctors including Dr keefe (orig vet who saw our dog) who all said he was going to get another blood test and that is it.
However, when we were given the bill they had billed us for the Bile Acid pre/post test (blood test for his liver) $140. Surgical/Medical Hospital Canine 51 to 86 pounds $21 (just because they had to put him in a cage?) I specifically told them I did not want any surgery done on my dog. Now they charged us $21 just to put his old a** in a cage? Really? Good Grief! Then they charged us for 2 xrays $143.00 and because he was being "uncooperative" they gave him an injection without our permission to the tune of $35.00. If an animal is uncooperating, the vet should have called us and told us that they need to give him a sedative at which point we would have told them NO WE DON'T WANT THAT and called off the procedure. They told us to go home and then come back to pick up the dog. When my partner when back Frankie could barely walk to the car. Dr Keefe did not know that Dr Gwon had given him a shot. Why wouldn't she have know that? Because she wasn't there. Ridiculous. This animal hospital owes me money and I'm furious.
I called today (saturday 12/8/18) and spoke to Gwen in Reception-another lovely person (total sarcasm) who told me that we weren't charge for the unauthorized Ultrasound that Dr Gwon gave our dog, which Gwen told me she didn't charge us for. I never authorized an ultrasound as that would have been the last resort. All he was supposed to get was a blood test. How did all this crap happen?
It was at this junction that we were then billed $339.00 bringing total payment to a whopping $679.79 bucks for 1 dog. Seriously Doctor Eppel is a money hound and doesn't deserve to have the same name as his father or the practice his father left him. For these prices I could have taken by dog back to NYC and had his old vet care for him. At least she was a one vet office. The problem with Harmony is not the care it is the billing and it has way too many vets in the office. One never knowing what the other has done prior to the animal.
I'm furious and this Animal Hospital should count its blessings that I am not going to a lawyer or putting stop paying with my credit card company. No, this is better. A review albeit a really bad review. Harmony may be opened 24 hours but these vets in rotation really should get their s**t together.
The worst financial experience for us cause we're not the Rockefellers and the worst experience for our poor old dog Frankie. I asked for our records and never going back and if I could give them a lower star I would.
