My fiancé and I adopted a puppy from this shelter last month. We thought the fact that we had to attend an event at a tractor supply shop was a little weird but decided to look past it because the puppy seemed so perfect for our family. We drove two hours to get there after reserving a dog and putting down a deposit only to find that the dog we had reserved was sent home with another family earlier that day. They did hold us a puppy from the same litter so we took her home and love her all the same, but my initial concerns that they had let another family take the puppy WE put a deposit on were completely brushed off by staff. We were told both dogs were tested and good with cats and this is not the case at all. She has also very clearly never been taken outside before and is TERRIFIED of the outdoors. I’ve never seen anything like this before. The worst part? We took her to the vet to find that she had KENNEL COUGH AND WORMS when we took her home, even though the “rescue” told us that she’d seen their vet TWO DAYS before coming home with us and had a clean bill of health. We spent $425 on her and will now need to spend way beyond the typical amount of new puppy fees on training and vet costs. I love my dog and everything, but this place should be avoided AT ALL COSTS.
The owner is Lorraine Forster. BEWARE. AVOID HER & HAPPY LIFE RESCUE AT ALL COSTS. Unfortunately for those of us who love dogs,we find some who SAY that they love dogs also, but the real & ONLY motivation is to fill their pockets.

It looks to me that 1 of her few reviews on Yelp.com is from her son who I met when I picked up my puppy. I consider this Fraud.
You may find that she is so anxious to make money that she is happy to sell you puppies that have been MISmedicated, overmedicated and not properly evaluated by a vet. The information on her website about the 'care' of the puppies is TOTALLY FALSE. There is MUCH more to tell, but the long & short of it is AVOID LORRAINE FORSTER & Happy Life Animal rescue at all costs. DO NOT believe the information that Lorraine Forster puts out on Petfinder.com.
It has been my experience that she gives very young puppies pesticides which should ONLY be prescribed by a licensed vet (which she most certainly is NOT ). Lorraine Forster gave my 10 week old puppy a pesticide pill on the morning that I picked him up. The puppy had NOT been seen by a vet and it was a medication that made the situation worse. I do not know if it's legal for a person to give a pesticide pill ( for deworming ) if the pet has not been to a vet, but in my case, the puppy had already been given SEVEN days of dewormer in another state and Lorraine felt is 'appropriate' to give him another dose on the morning that I picked him up.
It is important to note that Lorraine Forster hires trucks to transport puppies from other states to her in Patterson, NY. These trucks are UNSANITARY & gave my puppy, fleas & kennel cough. Lorraine Forster TOLD ME that the fleas were from the truck and the trip to NY. Clearly she is too cheap to hire trucks that have been CLEANED since their last transport.
