We called Ham's Lock and Key to change a battery on our rental condo key pad. I spoke to the owner of the compnay Teri. He said that he would send someone out and call and let me know if the guy he was sending out would need to stop and get a battery. I had tenants at our condo that were waiting for him to arrive. I never got a call back from Teri letting me know if he had a battery. My teants were tired of waiting up as it was taking forever for the locksmith to get there and asked if I could ask them to come the next day instead. So I called Teri and he said that would be fine for them to come the following day and that it was taking so long becuse his locksmith had to stop and get a battery.
The cost that he quoted me over the phone was $85 if there were no issues but the max would be $125 if there were lock issues.
So I call the next day to see if he was able to replace the battery. Roger the locksmith answered the phone. Roger said that there were no problems and it was an easy fix so I gave him my credit card number over the phone. I then confirned that it would be $85. He said no, that it would be $145 because he had to make 2 services calls and added a bunch of other things that were never previously mentioned. I told him and have it in writing that he was not to charge any more than $85 on my credit card.
I asked why there were 2 service calls and ROGER said because he went to the condo THAT EVENING ANYWAY(EVEN THOUGH I RESCHEDULED HIM TO COME THE NEXT DAY), and my tenant sent him away so he had to come back the following day. I explained to him that my tenant sent him away because my tenant requested that he come the next day because he was tired of waiting for him to come as he had been waiting for hours and was going to bed.
I told him that I would only authorize $85 to be charged on my credit card and he charged $145 WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION IMMEDIATELY AFTER I GAVE HIM MY CREDIT CARD #!
I AM WARNING WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF YOU EVER TO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
