They cant send an invoice before due date, only prefer to send notice of late payment and corresponding fee after the due date has passed. There is no way to enter credit card details on web site, you have to call them, and then they spend all kinds of time recording the phone call to record the Autopay setup, but then after all that, they dont Trigger the Autopay on the due date and another late fee develops. In my case I dont allow any companies to continually reptitively charge my permanenet credit cards. I only use perm cards manaully such as with Ebay or Amazon, airline tickets, Hotel sites etc.
My automatic payments are on temporary cards, this prevents fraud from the likes of Go Daddy, fat cow and others who like to zing a card a year later when you have forgotten about any new fees being due. Since there is no way to enter temporary cards on website every 3 months or so, the system becomes very cumbersom to avoid them having access the permanent cards. Geico seems to have their system down half a*s at least, they send an invoice 10 days ahead of time, you can login, check the upcoming payments, enter new cards, etc. no problem. Whay cant Hagerty get it going, cmon, this is 2021 almost.
I purchased an extremely rare 1974 Corvete, with 24k original miles, in 2011. I have had it, along with over twelve other cars insured with Hagerty since 2011, and currently have four insured consistently since 2011.
I was located in Houston, TX and my car got water damage in Harvey and was months ago flooded. I filed a claim and the adjuster sent out a specialty adjuster from a national company. The man looked at the car with me for about an hour.
He found rust inside the convertible deck, seat belts rusted, mold growing out of the seats and shift box, and more. He told me then that the car has water and bio-hazard damage and should be totaled out.
I got an email a week later from Hagerty, stating that the damage was only $4,300, and they would be paying for 2 new seats, carpet, 2 seat belts, and door trim. I have a flooded car insured at a gauranteed value of $75k and they want me to slap a few interior pieces in the car and never disclose it had a weather (water) claim? That is illegal and fraud!
I called the adjuster they sent and recorded my call (legal in Texas!). He told me that Hagerty told him: a) not to write it up as a total loss; b) that any other insurance company he worked for would have told him to total it out and states such in their policy, if it has water and mold; and c) only to write a report for damages that he could physically see with his eyes, and not anything else. When I called Hagerty to confront them about this, the claims replied to me and said he never stated the above to the adjuster, before he was told I have the call recorded.
Hagerty refuses to total out my precious car, that I have owned 8 years, and that is extremely rare for its kind. Since their own adjuster admitted it needed totaled, I am filing a complaint with the Texas Insurance Commission; bringing a bad faith and fraud claim against Hagerty, and moving my insurance. I've owned over a hundred cars in my lifetime and never would I buy a collector car that has had mold and flood damage, with a title stating otherwise. Don't trust Hagerty with your collection!
I'm not one to usually complain about a company but what happened to me must be heard!
I have a classic car that I am looking to occasionally drive to work a few times a month other than just car shows on the weekend. Apparently there was a miscommunication and the teller though I wanted to daily drive it after an hour of reviewing the recording from the initial conversation. Let me be perfectly clear that the car has only been used a few times a year for car shows but I am wanting the option to drive to work a day or so out of each month which they said was permitted. They have denied my insurance with them because they state my phone converstaion sounds like I would be using it more than just shows. Well they just told me I could drive it to work a few times per month so I do not understand what the disconnect it? That was it, no further reviewing, just denied with no justification or resoning as to why, absolutely insane to treat someone like this. I have perfect credit, driving record, and a professional. They lost my business for good and I will be sure and tell all my very large professional circle to drop them like a bad habit and go elsewhere.
Could not renew my lapsed policy due to financial issue. A few weeks after it lapsed I phoned them to renew. They wouldn't renew due to all the hurricanes in the Gulf and Atlantic. Said they would call me when things calmed down. Instead they sent the Fla. Dmv a notice of no insurance and now I have to battle them to keep my DL. From being suspended. I was a 20 year loyal customer with them. Never made a claim. Done. Can't wait to see when you guys fille for bankruptcy.
Beware of Hagerty Classic Cars Insurance especially if you have a Builder’s Policy. I don’t normally write reviews but the way this insurance company doesn’t care nor see this policy as a problem is concerning. The policy is expensive and doesn’t cover much of anything. They really shouldn't be allowed to sell it! Drop a wrench on your car and they classify that as “collision” – something the Builder’s Policy won’t cover. They won't pay for the damage that occurred when my classic car was being transported back to me from being worked on. I have been a loyal customer of Hagerty Classic Car Insurance and have several policies with them but because of this l will be changing companies. If you have a Builder’s Policy – BEWARE!
After reading all of the other reports, I had to chime in myself.
At first impression, I was like, "Man, all their female representitives have such sweet voices and sound so sincere and helpful, this is like a dream". All of their advertising clearly indicated that Hagerty Insurance covers muscle cars, even cars that are in restoration, so it was a no brainer to do business with them. Before I jumped through the burning hoops of their application, I was totally honest and upfront about the details of my car and driving record. I did this so I wouldn't be wasting my time or theirs on going through the whole application process.
The car is at like 90% complete restoration, only needs a carberator, fuel pump, and the final paint job. All of the actual prep/bodywork is 100% complete, all of the door jambs, under the hood, and trunk lid are painted...and the exterior is in primer. It just needs the final paint, and its done. I fully disclosed my driving record to the sweet sounding representitve too. Keep in mind, I only have 2 speeding tickets that I got in the last 6 months (speed trap tickets, both for less than 10mph over speed limit) which I have just been told do not even show up on my driving record in my state. Before those 2 tickets, it has been 15yrs since my last ticket, and have never made an auto insurance accident claim in 32 years of driving. After telling them all of that, there was not even a hint from Hagerty Insurance that there would be a problem with an approval on the application.
Just like previous posts before mine, they call a few days later to say the application was denied.
Their reason..."your car is not painted, so it is not considered in excellant condition" and...you have two tickets. Just like the previous posts, that is where the sweet sounding helpful voices....started sounding like they just wanted to shuffle me off the phone. Pretty much at that point, they didn't even want to waste the time listening to me.
With that said, a word of advice if you intend to deal with these people....... If your car is not "perfect" and is not 100% full restoration, lie your a** off to these people about what you have, obviously being honest and straight up is not a language they understand. Their false or misleading advertising kinda gives you an indication of what you might expect if you ever had to file a claim. If you have tickets, lie your a*s off to these people, and tell them you have none. Up front they will tell you tickets are ok, but they are obviously not. If you don't do this, you will be wasting alot of your time with the "burning hoops" application.
After going through all the motions and requirements I was denied due to a previous comprehensive claim on my car even though it paid out $0! Completely rediculous because 3 employees told me I'd be fine and would be approved. Very disappointed considering the time spent and how each rep said something different. It didn't matter what I said the found a way to rebut my every statement as if they were discriminating against me due to being the victim of car theft. It's also amazing that the car is not kept where it was stolen and will never be in that state again, yet they still found reason to deny it, this time saying that "using it for car shows and promotions was not acceptable ". Again, this is not mentioned on their site. It is a shame with all of the promoting they do that they treat customers like this- especially considering this is the second vehicle I have insured with them. I'm very disappointed with the overall experience , their customer service and the inconsistencies companywide with their underwriting . It seems as though nothing is consistent with their underwriting department and they make up the rules as they go . My best advice is to avoid this company at all cost and go with a company like , or any other insurance that is not Haggerty.
We payed to get classic car auto insurance, only to get rejected because we "might" sell the car "someday." They would reason when we told them okay we'd keep the car, they would even let us talk to a manager! Avoid!!
