The issue with H & H Restoration and Repair is the quality of work performed and the failure to complete the rework as agreed. Chris Howell agreed to complete the items that were not completed as part of a previous restoration project, that work was to complete the interior, headliner, carpet, dash and components, heater and AC and a number of exterior parts installation. When the car was returned it was a total mess, nothing was done correctly and it was missing parts.
Carpet was installed on a 30 degree angle, had been cut and was no longer usable, wrong screws used everywhere, surprising since all required screws were in fact provided to Dave, his supposed “helper” . Trim was severely bent when installed, arm rest incorrectly installed, side panels scratch up when rear seat installed, no seat belts installed,(claimed they weren’t there). The taillight surround trim fell off, tail panel had to be stripped and repainted. There were so many issues I asked Chris to come to my house to look at the car. I had prepared a complete list of all of the issue along with a complete set of pictures that showed the issues in detail.
Chris acknowledged all of the issues occurred at his shop and said that he did not check the car as Dave was doing all of the work at his “second” location and it was obvious Dave did not know what he was doing, Chris’s words to us. I had prepared an estimate to have all of the items corrected and Chris stated he did NOT have the money to pay me back to have the car corrected, he asked if I would let him personally correct all of the issues, Dave would not touch the car this time Chris stated. Chris presented me a “letter” stating he would in fact correct all of the issues. I agreed to allow him to take it back to correct the issues, first mistake….
I picked up the car assuming it was complete less the replacement of the new headliner Chris was to provide, Dave had cut numerous holes in the headliner to attach items, he had no clue what he was doing so Chris said he had ordered new headliner and was going to have it replaced once the shop had available time, second mistake…. I have texted Chris numerous times to have the headliner replaced, zero response to my request. He provided a written document that he would have this issue corrected but now he is ignoring the request.
He claimed the headliner was given to us but that is not correct, it was not in the car when we got it home, in addition all of the dash cluster switches were missing, Chris claimed it was assembled by another person in Stuarts Draft and he must have kept the original switches, several hundred dollar worth. He stated he would check to see where they went, zero response back from him on this issue. All of the above issues were fully documented and also included pictures, each item was discussed with Chris in full detail so he was fully aware and did in fact agree they were issues and needed to be corrected. Chris needs to pay to have the remaining items completed, I no longer trust he will correct the issues since he ignores my numerous requests. Today a sent a real nice request and he then “BLOCKED ME” from any further contact, obvious he is not going to do what his written statement to complete the job said…..
