The bushing to my shifter on my GMC broke. I took it into Gutierrez Tire and Wheel because a man named Rick quoted me an over the phone price $85.00 for the repair. I towed my car there. The rep (Rick) and the mechanic told me that the tow guy broke the bushing when the car was towed. That the problem could be a wire and to change the wire to be sure. The cost would be $150 for the part $255 total with labor. I told him that it was probably just the bushing. That the tow guy did not break the bushing. I only wanted them to fix the bushing.
Then Rick told me that the bushing they got did not fit even though the plastic bushing was what was listed for my car. He said nothing in that pack fit my car. Next he claimed that he tried the universal pack and all twenty bushings in that pack did not fit my car. He said no other parts store in all of Bakersfield had the bushing for my car. I questioned why such a common repair for my type car had no mention of the problem of the plastic bushing listed for the car not fitting. He stated again they tried all of them and none fit. Then he called a GMC dealer. He claimed the dealer did not sell the bushing by itself. I had to buy the shift connector that the bushing was a part of. $75 dollar part, $240 with labor. I felt like I had no choice but to pay for the repair. He said he could but a zip tie to hold the shifter together and that I was welcome to take my car somewhere else. The repair took less than an hour, and I was still charged $240. I don't even know if the actually replaced the shifter connecter!

Again, I felt like I had no choice, so I went ahead with the repair. After the five-hour back and forth about the part, the repair took less than an hour, and I was still charged $240. I don't even trust that they did the repair they claimed to have done.
