I delivered a firearm to have a baked on Cerakote finish applied the first week of March 2013 and I was told that the project was a simple one and would be completed within three, no more than four weeks. We agreed on a price of $175 and some other items were added, to be billed later.
I provided a specific list of items to be addressed in writing upon delivery and followed up with e-mail as time progressed and no notification to come and pick it up; that the work had been completed. I was left totally in the dark.
After a number of e-mails, I later received a VM telling me that the job would be delayed due to other work that had come in and expect it back in another 4 weeks. That the price had gone up to $250 for firearm and extra for the additional parts TBD due in part to the additional work involved and my e-mails and calls.
In dropped by to see how things were progressing in mid-May beyond the second promised date and it was in parts and the finish removed but nowhere near done. Had I known what I now know I would have paid him a fee for his time and recovered it at that time. He offered me a pocket knife that I had left but is was an ugly mess and he offered to do it over, the craftsmanship was very questionable. All I could think of was sending the expensive knife back to the factory for refurbishment.
I finally arrived at his shop on July 1st 2013 to pick it up in whatever condition it was in out of frustration. I had found another finishing shop. At that time, he was surprised to see me, the firearm was 90% complete with a number of small parts missing. The finish was completed and I ended up paying over $335.73 for a job that he first quoted me $175 and the extras for a total of $250 out the door, then later changed to $250 to become $335.73 due to missing parts and things that he had agreed to in the initial price.
Forget changes in price and four months to completion. The Cerakote finish that he used was to have been a baked on higher-grade finish and it was not. He refused to provide details on the material used until I picked up the partially assembled firearm; it was at that point I discovered that this was not what I paid for. Other finishers charge $140 for the H-series higher-grade baked Cerakote finish, fully assemble it and test fire the firearm. A C-Series finish in the wife's oven is not near as durable as a professioanlly baked on H-Series finish.
Save yourself the time, bad customer service and arrogance, bait and switch of intended materials and take your business elsewhere. This is not the place to take anything that you value. I am having the work redone at a reputable gunsmith with the correct materials, by people that understand service and send back the original parts as promised.
Spend your money wisely with skilled and knowledgeable people that care and can get the job done right the first time and on time as promised. Its always a pleasure to work with people that you can trust. I didn't find that at GS Gunsmith.

I brought in a .22 Marlin that was not ejecting properly...I was told the bolt rod follower or something like that was bent.
After paying $60 I was assured the gun was functioning properly now...when I tested it out it was still having the same issue, not ejecting.
I brought it back and left it...after about 45 days I called to see where it was at...I was told he was very busy and my gun was next in line to be looked at.
About a week later I got a voicemail saying all three of the magazines I brought in were no good...when I came in to pick up the gun he wanted to charge me another $25.
I told him that was not right or fair as he should of fixed it right the first time.
He then got very rude and threatened to physically throw me out.
I called the Ramsey Police Department and was advised to take this to civil court.
I also wanted to share this experience with other potential customers for GS Gunsmith...Beware!
