Detail of Complaint Mullins Securities contacted Hawkins Insurance Agency, Allstate for general liability insurance, and workers compensation insurance. The general liability insurance was written first, and then the worker's comp by different companies. Due to the rate of the worker's comp insurance, we were unable to obtain it at this time. We had all ready purchased the general liability and understood that we would have to pay for the days that we were insured as stated by the terms and conditions below:
This Confirmation is subject to the cancellation provisions as found in the policy(ies) or certificate(s) currently in use by the insurer. The Insurance effected under this confirmation can be cancelled by the insurer by mailing, to the first named insured at the address stated on the confirmation, written notice stating when such cancellation shall become effective. The Insurance effected under this confirmation may be cancelled by the named insured by giving written notice to Griffin Underwriting Services, stating when thereafter the cancellation shall become effective. Cancellation can not be effected prior to the post mark date of the written notice. In the event of cancellation by the insured, the earned premium would be subject to the minimum premium if applicable. THE INSURANCE UNDER THIS CONF1RMATION CAN NOT BE CANCELLED FLAT; earned premium and any applicable fees and taxes must be paid for the time that insurance has been in force." On March 1, 2017, 15 days later, I realize we were not going to be able to get the workers comp and asked the agent to cancel this insurance so we could at least get a portion of our money back, and reorder at a later day. It took until today for the agent to inform me that the Griffin Underwriting is refusing to refund me the prorated amount. The agent did not understand why and gave me the information to contact Griffin. I have contacted Griffin but they are will not prorate the premium and refund my money.
