Gresham Roofing and Construction Reviews

Gresham Roofing CCB#198421 16921 SE Tristin Ln Happy Valley, Or 97086 Dear Gresham Roofing, I contacted you at the end of 2010 regarding replacement of my roof; I was more than happy to have you as my roofer and was excited about the vibrant look of a new roof. Although after installation, on 12/21/2010, little did I know, the roof had multiple problems with the installation and code issues with ventilation along with a constant leak that later on I would find out was the direct result of my black mold issues growing in most of my windows and doors, my children’s health and wellness diminishing, bouts with pneumonia, RSV, sinusitis and continued health conditions for my household.

I first contacted you Friday 2/3/2012 regarding the leaking issues that I found in my attic after re-roofing the roof in December of 2010. Without call back I called again 2/7/2012 to your company and you garishly sent out a worker to try and solve the growing issues with my project on Friday 2/10/2012.

Your representative (Hugo) inspected the attic and said there were some venting issues and there were vents that needed to be added to be up to code and that the existing vents were not properly connected. After coming out and inspecting, Hugo contacted me on Monday 2/13/2012 via. Text and said “WE WILL BE INSTALLING VENTS FOR FREE CALL U TOMORROW TO SET UP A TIME”. No roof vents were installed. 7/8/2012 I texted Hugo and asked when he would be scheduling to install the vents with no response. I called your company again 2/4/2013 and let you know the problem was getting worse and something needed to be done about the black mold that was growing at an excelled rate and started growing in the windows and doors. On 2/18/2013 Jason Coe text me regarding coming out to look at the issues and scheduled a time and date of 2/20/2013 and did not show. Jason sent me a text stating he would have a crew out by Friday. 2/22/2013 and did not show up. I contacted Jason 2/21/2013 and you stated you would be out by the 26th which you did and you added some small soffit vents to the front north side of the house, replaced the cdx that had rotted and patched the roof. You stated you would have a cleanup crew clean the attic of mold, encapsulate the black mold with an inhibitor and clean up the window seals and door jams. You had also stated that you would add more venting to rectify the problem, which never happened I assumed the problem was fixed and you assured me you had fixed the issue at hand but the black mold grew and became ever so worse extending into the household.

2/04/2015 I checked and found the new cdx beginning the process of molding again and found yet more water damage and black mold throughout the house as well as the attic. I called your company again on 2/04/2015 and said I needed an estimate to repair the roof so you sent out Chuck a represent of Gresham Roofing on the 2/10/2015. Chuck said that most likely it was due to the Grace tri flex underpayment that was used and that it was not ventilated properly. After finding out I had your company re roof the roof in 2010, He said he was going to have to contact Jason Coe and have him deal with the situation and that the company had been having problems with the new synthetics causing houses to rot from the inside out. That your company has had to do complete tear offs and replace everything due to black mold and dry rot. On 2/16/2015 Jason scheduled to come out the 19th and did. He did a moisture test and stated the house was at a humidity of 68% and checked the attic and found the cdx that had been replaced had re rotted and was at a moisture content of 92%. He looked at the roof with a Flir E6 Meter and said he would call me and schedule to be out to repair the roof and clean up the mold. On 3/11/2015 I called and inquired to when you be by to take care of the problems you never got back to me. On 4/15/2015 I called and reminded you I needed the repair done asap. On 4/16/2015 Jason Coe text me and said “I don’t have a day yet but I will get back to you next week” Regarding repairs. On 4/23/2015 Jason text me and said he would have a crew to my home by tomorrow. On 4/24/2015 no one showed up. On 5/7/2015 Jason text me and said he was sorry he had forgotten about me. And said he would have a crew on the 8th.

On 5/8/2015 Gresham roofing showed up and replaced the sheet that had rotted again as well as 5 other sheets that were covered in black mold. Jason let me know he would have a cleanup crew come out and sand the existing black mold off the wood and encapsulate it with a spray inhibitor and clean up the mold in the windows, doors, attic, and would have the mold staining on the decking sanded clean, as well as vacuum the debris left behind. None of which has happened to date. On 5/11/2015 I noticed that the roofing color that Gresham roofing repaired my house with was a different color than the original landmark 30 Mt. Timber that I had originally purchased and had installed by Gresham roofing in 2010. The color that the repair was completed in is driftwood which is completely different colors making my initial investment devalued. I also have done a closer look and noticed the flashing, around the chimney, that I thought was being replaced with a no calk flashing in my original contract, actually is still the original flashing and had a bunch of calking around it and never was replaced. On 5/12/2015 Jason Coe contacted me and let me know the problem the whole time had been a misplaced nail near the ridge. He said “it was amazing what one little nail can do.” I am still not assured the problem has truly been addressed or repaired. And feel there has been neglect by your company to the right thing and repair the situation before it became a health risk to my children.

Addendum of what needs to be addressed and repaired -Roofing replaced to match the landmark 30 mt. timber shingles. -Venting added and connected properly to code - cdx sheeting with mold replaced to pre loss condition and properly permitted -all mold cleaned, encapsulated, and inhibited by an independent contractor - replace the existing flashing with new like the original bid stated -properly clean the attic space of all nails debris, mold, staining and back to original pre loss state. I need all these problems addressed and rectified in 30 days or I will be filing a lawsuit Thanks very much for your quick aid in this matter
