I am just now finally getting around to doing this. I took almost a year to get through my stuff and notice all the damages that had been done. I have no earthly idea what kind of people they hire to do the moving, but they are beyond unprofessional. Just about every piece of my furniture is broken in some way, whether it's chipped, has a hole, had hinges ripped off, whatever. Boxes were smashed in and things were left taken apart (like my kitchen table), not to mention the moving blanket that was left taped to my loveseat. The foreigners they had moving my stuff were using my furniture around like it was pixie stix. My son's furniture had to be nailed back together! Let's not even talk about the person who actually took the original "order" for the move. I told him I had close to 200 boxes. He apparently only allowed for 100 and they sent a smaller truck. Several of my personal belongings got left behind at my former residence because they didn't fit. The movers arrived at my former home at 7 p.m. at night, finished loading about 2 a.m. and they finally arrived at my new residence (6 hours away) at around 1 p.m. that afternoon. They finally left around 8 p.m. with my son's sunglasses (one of them thought it would be nice to swipe them off my counter!) which was 2 hours passed the time I was allowed to move in!
I tried to contact the owner immediately.....before their movers even left.....in tears, to tell him about all the broken furniture. He wasn't very helpful even after I sent him a number of pictures. He simply referred me to a bunch of websites to file complaints on "to get the most money back". Um, I'm sorry, but you're allegedly the owner. Shouldn't you (emphasis here) have offered me my money back? So now I am taking action. Period. Like I said, I have a plethora of pictures to show what these animals did to my belongings.....plus they charged me more then I was quoted and wanted cash or they wouldn't unload me....so my suggestion would be to give me all my money back plus damages.
