I have a Green Dot Walmart money card and I noticed fraudently transaction on my account that I did not make, One was for 270.53 and 143.68 from a kmart in miami ,fl. i have never been to miami fl and never been to kmart. i never made these purchases. when i call customer serv for green dot i get somone in the phillipenes and who was very rude. i asked for a manager and they advised they have no manager, i asked to be transfered to corporate and they said there is no corporate. they said they can put in dispute and takes 30 days, this is not acceptable , i need my money and this company green dot walmart money card is ripping me off. this is not acceptable i should not hve to wait 30 days to get my money back for fraud activity that i did not do .and they canceled my card and said it will take 20 days for me to get a new card . this is unacceptable.

Back in 2015, my tax preparer suggested I purchase a green dot card to direct deposit my refund to. It sounded like a much better idea, I didnt have a bank account then, it was faster than a paper check, so I purchased one. As soon as my refund was direct deposited onto the green dot card, I went to use my card and it was declined. My online account showed the money in the account, so I called customer service. They informed me that my card had a temporary block on it, until they could confirm my identity. Which meant sending a copy of my id, and waiting two business days. I complied, and two days later my money was released. I decided this year, I would call customer service before I decided to use the card for direct
deposit this year. After waiting on hold for a customer service rep, one came on the line, hardly speaking english. I asked if I could send a copy of my photo id early this year, if that would avoid the hold they placed last year. The rep assured that since i used the SAME CARD as last year, they already had my photo id on file because it was the same account i had for the last year. I even asked the rep to speak with a supervisor, just to be certain. She told me she was the supervisor. So, i ised the card again this year, in good faith. Ive been paying the monthly service charge for a year, and hardly used the card for anything, however keeping money on it so it would stay active. My taxes get direct deposited this year, I was able to
make some purchases (paid off some larger bills i was needing to pay ) and that same day 4 hours after the deposit, they blocked my card again. I called customer service, and they direct you to an automated recording that tells you your card has been blocked, instructs you send a copy of photo id, wait two business days for it to process, then tells you the reps have no further information and the recording ends. So, I once again send in a copy of my photo id, waited the two days, only to log into my account and see its still blocked. The only option they give you to find out any information, is to chat with a rep online. I write them, and the rep then tells me that my copy wasnt legiable, I would need to resend and wait another 2
business days. Almost a week of them holding my money so far. Customer service is aweful, and all my money i have is being held. When they have had now 3 DIFFERENT copies of my identification (sent 3 different times) Consumers be ware, they are a rip off!
I hightly suggest everyone avoid this internet debit card company. They definitely offer Visa debit cards but may also offer other services too.
I was given a Visa debit card by a friend who had purchassed it at a local Walgreen store. I had to register the card at Greendot.com's web site which I did but as part of the registration had to provide my SS# and DOB which I found very questionably. I was faced with forfeiting the $50 or providing this personal information. I decided to go ahead and take a chance and finished the registration process. At the end of the regiatration, it was stated I would be charged $7.95 per month after the first use of the card. I considered this a big ripoff and was the end of the road for me.
To Greendot's credit the monthly charge is stated on the packaging of the card but I did not know this until after I called Walgreen's and reported my experience wiith Greendot. The manager had never heard of any monthly charge so I checked the package and sure enough it is stated.
Continuing with the story, I decided to call the 800# provided on the Walgreen's gift card receipt to see if I could get a refund. The call rang into Greendot.com. The recording stated for servicve I would have to call another number which I did. This connected me with a Michael who had a distinguishing accent. He was very nice and helpful and graciously took in the ear full I provided. Eventually, we agreed he would cancel the card and send me a check for the $50. Hopefully, I will get it.
I reported my negative experience to Walgreen's customer service hotline and to a local Walgreen's store manager. Hopefully this will get the cards removed from Walgreens.
This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had. On May 17th, 2016 I purchased two GreenDot credit cards for cash. Each card was $429.95 at my local Casey's General Store. One card worked while the other was an invalid card. After many phone calls, two case #'s and the customer support losing my emails for proof of purchase after telling they confirmed receipt I still do not have my $429.95 for the second card. I lost it today when another customer service agent from GreenDot told me the last case was closed and I had to start another. This was after she tried to tell me my check was sent on May 31st at the beginning of the phone call. HOW CAN A COMPANY WHOSE SPECIALTY IS SELLING CREDIT CARDS HAVE SO LITTLE INTEGRITY!? When I asked to speak to a supervisor every time but one. a supervisor could not be found? I have written notes from my experience. My receipts when I purchased the cards, they have copies of those receipts. I suffer from anxiety and this has caused unmeasureable amounts of stress, late fees for other bills and still no one at GREENDOT cares. Against a big company like this is there any justice for a person who has done all the right things, provided the proof they need and yet no one from GREENDOT will step up and make this right! How do you close the case with customer service when there was no resolution? How can a company like this have the ability to get the licensing to manage money when they can't perform the simplest of customer service support? They don't call back and follow up. They don't care if they have what is a sizable amount of your money and have cause a real hardship on you "their customer".
SHAME ON STEVE HARVEY FOR SUPPORTING A COMPANY LIKE THIS!!! Shame on all who work for this company. Shame on their management and investors. Tomorrow I am contacting a lawyer to see what legal rights I have and how much it will cost me to get my money back! Green dot the worst. After loading registering and activating I made 1 single purchase and they blocked my card. Now refusing to unblock my account because my name doe not match my passport (my passport includes my middle name). They also block my ability to change the account information and to close the card. Their automated system also does not allow me to close my account. The worst experience of my life. I have given them:
a) Pictures of original receipt and packaging material
b) Password pin secret answer home address birth-date social security number
Still refuse to unlock
c) I have a record from my ISP showing I charged the card using the IP address owned by myself

I got a new job that requires direct deposit. I got a green dot money card. I made a purchase at HSN. At the end of the transaction I had been charged twice. HSN did an instant reversal. It has been SIX days now and green dot still has not put the money back on my card. HSN has confirmed that green dot has the money. Green dot is saying will be an additional TEN days before MY money is refunded. This card is a joke. Don't buy one. They will take your money. Find other options.
On 5/19 my company sent my direct deposit to my Green Dot mastercard. The Account number and routing number matched. I have tried ALL day 5/20 since 7 am to get a HUMAN on the phone. No one will help. When i call the 800 on the back of my card you get someone in the phillipines that will NOT HELP YOU. They say when we get the money it will post to your account. yesterday I went into town and put money on my card so that I could order an item online that I need. I had to pay there 4 or 5 dollar charge when I loaded it and then when I got home and made my order (on ebay) I got the usual reply "order has been filled, thank you and item will be shipped" so went about my day. today I got back on ebay to check my order stautus and there is no record of me even placing the order. So now I have to go through the dreaded 2 hour long proccess of trying to sign in at [email protected], after finally being able to log in, I see that they hit me with a monthly charge and a vip charge which didnt even leave me enough to order what I wanted. I dont have money to just throw away. what is happening in this country with our money system is criminal, I can only pray that in the end there will be some sort of justice for the millions of little people being stolen from by just a few big people.
Green dot stole my money. Had my power turned off and my car insurance cancelled. The dmv are trying to take my tag. Dollar general and green dot both said they where not liable. Thanks for ruining my life.
On 3/5/16, I reported my Green Dot prepaid card lost. The account was cancelled, and I was told it would take 2 days (days) to send a new one. It's now been 10 (ten) days. Last week, I checked the status online and got a message saying it had been mailed. Great. 1st class mail takes 1 day, 2 at most to transit the country. As of today, still no card.
I contacted customer service yesterday. The person I spoke with did not understand English very well, and was clearly reading from a script. I followed up with that waste of time by writing to two other "contact us" links. Today, I contacted customer service by chat so I could copy a transcript. I asked to chat with a supervisor. I was told then that the processing time is two weeks! No matter what I tried, he would only say, "I'm sorry, but it's two weeks, can't tell you anything else, can't track down where the card is, sucks being you (paraphrase)." I asked why I was told two days initially, when this is obviously a lie, and he could not/would not offer an explanation. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, I was told there was no one higher than him to speak to.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Pasadena. In the meantime, I can't access my funds until... who knows? That means bills and rent don't get paid, and worst of all, I can't even buy groceries to feed my family. This is utter BS. Someone somewhere is flat out lying. If there is a legal course of action to pursue, I would do so. Perhaps I ought to contact my state Attorney General's office, or perhaps the FDIC or CFPA. I can see from other comments here that all the pre-paid services conduct business in the same way.

They refuse to return the 50.00 value of the Green Dot Gift Card I received as a gift!! The registration was a complete nightmare by people in customer service that can't speak English!! They reside to return the $$ after the card was lost in the mail!! I asked it be returned to my Sister, as after 1.5 hrs I could not get the card registered!! Reloaded a Green Dot Money pack card with $ 300. They froze my account telling me I need a card with my name on it. They said it will take two weeks to mail it to me. Three months later and two of their employees telling me my card will be sent in two weeks all I hae is a $ 300 loss.
The initial problem occurred in mid August 2015. I made a purchase at Sonic restaurant. It was declined. I had just received my automatic deposit early in the money. Embarassed I left without my food. I then went to a store in which I purchase my cigarettes. It too was declined. I called the automated line for Wal-Mart Visa. 1-877-937-4098 And followed the prompts.
I discovered they had froze my money. I had to verify the purchases ( places I do business weekly). Once I did that a "live" person came on the phone and thanked me. Then she told me it would be 24-48 hrs before I could get access to my money. I was very upset. I explained that I had no money or would have any food for work and my utility bill would be late.
Finally, within minutes it was cleared and Was able to use my card. I asked why they froze my card? I was told there was "suspicious" purchases on my card. I said not true. I use these places daily or weekly. I ask them why when I was in Great Smokies and Pigeon Forge why my card wasn't froze for suspicious activity? Since I had never used it there. No response.
I have since Jan 2015; always received my automatic deposit on Wednesday mornings approx. 2:00-300 a.m.September 16th I received my deposit on Wed. Morning. The following week I went to Wal-Mart to get my food like I always have. I got to register it was declined. I checked my balance and my deposit wasn't there. I called. As usually it was a nightmare. Finally I was told MY employer was at fault. I contacted my employer and they hadn't made in changes in their payroll.
This seemed so odd. I had never had any issues until my phone call in August 2015. I spoke with them again two weeks ago on October 14th, 55 minutes and 7 seconds. They still couldn't answer why I had to wait eight days to get my money, but they gave me a $25.00 credit on my card for my inconvenirnce and late charge on my bill. Water bill. I was told that someone from their corporate office would call me 16th or the following Monday 19th. I've never had any resolve from that.
The reason for my complaint today is as follows: I checked my balance and it was $5.30. I knew that wasn't right. I had checked it and it was 40.00 and some odd cents. I checked the hist. There was a charge I knew I hadn't made. I called Wal-Mart Visa. What a living nightmare. I'm at work and on my lunch break. They took my whole break to wind up cancelling my card and was rude and said at first it would be Nov 6th before I would get my replacement card. I said like hell (I'm sorry).
They had given me the number to the co. that had made the transaction. They had credited it back while I was on the phone. I repeatedly told WALMart Visa that my card was not compromised and not to cancel it. I explained I had no more money and my auto deposit would be going in Thursday morning 29th. I had to hang up go get my supervisor and tell him I had an emergency financial crisis and I called them back.
Needless to say it just got worse. They told me they wouldn't expedite me a card and I ask what card would my deposit go to they said the new replacement card. I ask how? The routing and tracking will be the same. They said not to worry my deposit would be there. I said what d**n good will that do me if I don't get the card until the Nov 6th, and then I was told it could be up until the 9th of November. I explained the domino effect this was about to cause and it didn't matter.
Im livid! This company is holding my money hostage. I feel this is just retaliation for the dispute from August over them freezing my card for No reason, then threatening to hold my money for two days. The rest of the nightmare soon followed when They held my money for 8 days. Late bill with fee, but was given $25.00 immediately. They had no right to cancell my card. This is a nightmare with financial consequences, mental, emotional, undo stress. Trust me 20 + people heard the problem I was having.
i got off work at 2:00 am. I checked my balance on my card and it said $ 302.50. I rushed to the bank US BANK Sparta, Tn to get 300.00. It said insufficient funds contact your financial institution. Well I did. Long story short I have to call back in just a little while. 8:00am when a supervisor is there. I should have $35.27. They are saying $5.30. My text from them says 5.30, even though I was credited back $29.97, and it shows in their hist where it was credited back now they have what little money I have to my name, and they are holding it hostage.

After speaking to the representative I was told that I tried to enter the information (on their defective website) too many times and could no longer do so because I was now locked out. I asked for a new card number and to have MY MONEY transferred to another temporary card. I was told they can not do that and would refund my money 10-14 BUSINESS DAYS from that date by a check mailed to my home. Asked to speak to a manager, was told there was none, started to get angry and was told she would hang up. My check eventually came but way after what I needed that money on a debit card for. (to purchase a plane ticket for a funeral that week) For two weeks the company had my cash- interest in a bank account somewhere? Or perhaps Walmart makes money cashing the check for you when it finally comes...Just another company taking advantage of the working poor and non-citizens. NEVER purchase any of these types of debit cards-open an online banking account (Regions Bank) or go to ACE check cashing where they will hand you a card with the money already loaded. I should know better than to shop at Walmart for any reason and I know That there are somehow affiliated with this company because when the check came it also advertised that it could be cashed at Walmart. Extremely poor customer service. Sad that I had to beg for my own money to be returned to me.
I rented a vehicle using my Walmart money card. The rental company sent greendot the release for the preauthorazation funds over a month ago. I have contacted greendot 8 times after the 6 I was told that I needed to contact the rental company and have them send another release, which they did. In fact they sent the release 3 times. then Greendot tells them they need it in a different type of format. when the rental company ask if they could fax it to them they said NO, it could only be sent as an email, which they had already sent it 3 times.
Greendot said it could take up to 90 days for the funds to be revesed to my card. at that time the rental company advised me that somewhere in the greendot system is making money of the intrest of that money, because they release any hold on funds after 5 days. The repersentative at Green dot seemed to be very angry at that time.
I want the 460 dollars that they owe me and I promise never to use that company again nor tell anyone else to use them... such ashame for walmart

Green dot stole my money. Had my power turned off and my car insurance cancelled. The dmv are trying to take my tag. Dollar general and green dot both said they where not liable. Thanks for ruining my life.
On 3/5/16, I reported my Green Dot prepaid card lost. The account was cancelled, and I was told it would take 2 days (days) to send a new one. It's now been 10 (ten) days. Last week, I checked the status online and got a message saying it had been mailed. Great. 1st class mail takes 1 day, 2 at most to transit the country. As of today, still no card.
I contacted customer service yesterday. The person I spoke with did not understand English very well, and was clearly reading from a script. I followed up with that waste of time by writing to two other "contact us" links. Today, I contacted customer service by chat so I could copy a transcript. I asked to chat with a supervisor. I was told then that the processing time is two weeks! No matter what I tried, he would only say, "I'm sorry, but it's two weeks, can't tell you anything else, can't track down where the card is, sucks being you (paraphrase)." I asked why I was told two days initially, when this is obviously a lie, and he could not/would not offer an explanation. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, I was told there was no one higher than him to speak to.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Pasadena. In the meantime, I can't access my funds until... who knows? That means bills and rent don't get paid, and worst of all, I can't even buy groceries to feed my family. This is utter BS. Someone somewhere is flat out lying. If there is a legal course of action to pursue, I would do so. Perhaps I ought to contact my state Attorney General's office, or perhaps the FDIC or CFPA. I can see from other comments here that all the pre-paid services conduct business in the same way.

They refuse to return the 50.00 value of the Green Dot Gift Card I received as a gift!! The registration was a complete nightmare by people in customer service that can't speak English!! They reside to return the $$ after the card was lost in the mail!! I asked it be returned to my Sister, as after 1.5 hrs I could not get the card registered!! Tried it online too, but not person friendly!! Not a professional company!! Had seen it on the Strve Harvey Show. Will not ever recommend them to. My one!! Still no $$ from 3 weeks ago!!
Reloaded a Green Dot Money pack card with $ 300. They froze my account telling me I need a card with my name on it. They said it will take two weeks to mail it to me. Three months later and two of their employees telling me my card will be sent in two weeks all I hae is a $ 300 loss.
The initial problem occurred in mid August 2015. I made a purchase at Sonic restaurant. It was declined. I had just received my automatic deposit early in the money. Embarassed I left without my food. I then went to a store in which I purchase my cigarettes. It too was declined. I called the automated line for Wal-Mart Visa. 1-877-937-4098 And followed the prompts.
I discovered they had froze my money. I had to verify the purchases ( places I do business weekly). Once I did that a "live" person came on the phone and thanked me. Then she told me it would be 24-48 hrs before I could get access to my money. I was very upset. I explained that I had no money or would have any food for work and my utility bill would be late.
Finally, within minutes it was cleared and Was able to use my card. I asked why they froze my card? I was told there was "suspicious" purchases on my card. I said not true. I use these places daily or weekly. I ask them why when I was in Great Smokies and Pigeon Forge why my card wasn't froze for suspicious activity? Since I had never used it there. No response.
I have since Jan 2015; always received my automatic deposit on Wednesday mornings approx. 2:00-300 a.m.September 16th I received my deposit on Wed. Morning. The following week I went to Wal-Mart to get my food like I always have. I got to register it was declined. I checked my balance and my deposit wasn't there. I called. As usually it was a nightmare. Finally I was told MY employer was at fault. I contacted my employer and they hadn't made in changes in their payroll.
This seemed so odd. I had never had any issues until my phone call in August 2015. I spoke with them again two weeks ago on October 14th, 55 minutes and 7 seconds. They still couldn't answer why I had to wait eight days to get my money, but they gave me a $25.00 credit on my card for my inconvenirnce and late charge on my bill. Water bill. I was told that someone from their corporate office would call me 16th or the following Monday 19th. I've never had any resolve from that.
The reason for my complaint today is as follows: I checked my balance and it was $5.30. I knew that wasn't right. I had checked it and it was 40.00 and some odd cents. I checked the hist. There was a charge I knew I hadn't made. I called Wal-Mart Visa. What a living nightmare. I'm at work and on my lunch break. They took my whole break to wind up cancelling my card and was rude and said at first it would be Nov 6th before I would get my replacement card. I said like hell (I'm sorry).
They had given me the number to the co. that had made the transaction. They had credited it back while I was on the phone. I repeatedly told WALMart Visa that my card was not compromised and not to cancel it. I explained I had no more money and my auto deposit would be going in Thursday morning 29th. I had to hang up go get my supervisor and tell him I had an emergency financial crisis and I called them back.
Needless to say it just got worse. They told me they wouldn't expedite me a card and I ask what card would my deposit go to they said the new replacement card. I ask how? The routing and tracking will be the same. They said not to worry my deposit would be there. I said what d**n good will that do me if I don't get the card until the Nov 6th, and then I was told it could be up until the 9th of November. I explained the domino effect this was about to cause and it didn't matter.
Im livid! This company is holding my money hostage. I feel this is just retaliation for the dispute from August over them freezing my card for No reason, then threatening to hold my money for two days. The rest of the nightmare soon followed when They held my money for 8 days. Late bill with fee, but was given $25.00 immediately. They had no right to cancell my card. This is a nightmare with financial consequences, mental, emotional, undo stress. Trust me 20 + people heard the problem I was having.
i got off work at 2:00 am. I checked my balance on my card and it said $ 302.50. I rushed to the bank US BANK Sparta, Tn to get 300.00. It said insufficient funds contact your financial institution. Well I did. Long story short I have to call back in just a little while. 8:00am when a supervisor is there. I should have $35.27. They are saying $5.30. My text from them says 5.30, even though I was credited back $29.97, and it shows in their hist where it was credited back now they have what little money I have to my name, and they are holding it hostage.
Bought card and deposited 500.00 at the register at Walmart. Tried NUMEROUS times to enter info into website. Website was apparently not working correctly and I called the number on the back of the card to find out how to get my money loaded onto temporary debit card. Nowhere could you speak to a live person-it simply wasn't one of the choices in their automated message. Went back online and found where you could file a complaint over the internet. Then had to wait for a response until someone called me. After speaking to the representative I was told that I tried to enter the information (on their defective website) too many times and could no longer do so because I was now locked out. I asked for a new card number and to have MY MONEY transferred to another temporary card. I was told they can not do that and would refund my money 10-14 BUSINESS DAYS from that date by a check mailed to my home. Asked to speak to a manager, was told there was none, started to get angry and was told she would hang up. My check eventually came but way after what I needed that money on a debit card for. (to purchase a plane ticket for a funeral that week) For two weeks the company had my cash- interest in a bank account somewhere? Or perhaps Walmart makes money cashing the check for you when it finally comes...Just another company taking advantage of the working poor and non-citizens. NEVER purchase any of these types of debit cards-open an online banking account (Regions Bank) or go to ACE check cashing where they will hand you a card with the money already loaded. I should know better than to shop at Walmart for any reason and I know That there are somehow affiliated with this company because when the check came it also advertised that it could be cashed at Walmart. Extremely poor customer service. Sad that I had to beg for my own money to be returned to me.
I rented a vehicle using my Walmart money card. The rental company sent greendot the release for the preauthorazation funds over a month ago. I have contacted greendot 8 times after the 6 I was told that I needed to contact the rental company and have them send another release, which they did. In fact they sent the release 3 times. then Greendot tells them they need it in a different type of format. when the rental company ask if they could fax it to them they said NO, it could only be sent as an email, which they had already sent it 3 times.
Greendot said it could take up to 90 days for the funds to be revesed to my card. at that time the rental company advised me that somewhere in the greendot system is making money of the intrest of that money, because they release any hold on funds after 5 days. The repersentative at Green dot seemed to be very angry at that time.
I want the 460 dollars that they owe me and I promise never to use that company again nor tell anyone else to use them... such ashame for walmart
