Wife and I decided to go back to Greek Islands after a good experience. We ordered the usual items and my wife ordered her main dish- Pastistio. The menu calls for "Baked Seasoned Ground Beef and Layers of Macaroni, Topped with Béchamel Sauce". The key word here is Béchamel Sauce. a simple google search will show this is a white sauce, NOT RED. On our last visit, this is exactly what was served and it was great. In fact, this is what brought us back...
Tonight was much different. My wife ordered the same dish but this time it was brought out with a RED sauce on top. My wife tried it and didn't like it. We flagged the waiter and he sent it back and brought out a second dish almost immediately. This Pastistio was burnt on the top layer and had zero Béchamel sauce on it. My wife tried it and said, aside from being burnt, it was dry like cardboard. Chances are, it was just sitting under a warming light drying out.
We sent that dish back and were amazed that there was no offering of the menu to try a different item or any empathy for the situation.
To make matters worse, when we received the check, we were charged $15 for the Pastistio. I immediately asked for the manager and Chris, the owner son and General Manager by default walks over. I explain the situation and he tells me that they have been serving it for 20 years with red sauce and he is not writing off 2 plates for a single table. He then turns and walks away. I laughed, paid my tab minus the tip and called my credit card company to dispute the charge.
It's sad to see siblings in management roles by default and it is clear their GM has zero skill when it comes to customer service. I would have been absolutely fine with paying for it had they got the order right or even the second order. Chris, if you read this, go to a fine dining establishment and you will immediately realize your areas of opportunity.
The idiot waiter told me AFTER we were finished with our salad, that they were out of the grilled chicken entree and all side dishes. It was a total bait-and-switch dining experience. Christos "Chris" Kantzavelos, the idiot general manager of the restaurant and little punk, is a relative of George who is the owner. He insulted me by saying “you haven’t eaten here in over a year so why are you complaining?”.
In my opinion, Chris is a low-class little punk with no people skills whatsoever. Anyone who wants to be treated like dirt when they dine out should definitely visit this lousy joint. What good is having excellent food if you don't know how to properly treat your customers and your stupid general manger is rude and nasty to them? I would recommend that people dine elsewhere at a restaurant where they actually appreciate your business and patronage.
f I could give this place minus 5 stars I would. The idiot waiter told me AFTER we were finished with our salad, that they were out of the grilled chicken entree and all side dishes. It was a total bait-and-switch dining experience. Chris, the a****** manager and a relative of George who is the owner, insulted me by saying “you haven’t eaten here in over a year so why are you complaining?”. In my opinion, Chris is a tool and a low-class jerk, with no people skills whatsoever. Anyone who wants to be treated like s*** when they dine out should definitely visit this lousy joint.
