About 16 mos ago I went in for a nail in one tire. No sensor problems in dash or anything else. I ended up buying 4 new tires and they told me they had to replace a tire sensor which had gone bad. I paid the $65 even tho I'd never had a problem with the light on the dash going off. Well now the light was going off and they told me it should reset. Of course it didnt so I had to go back in at which time they said I had another! $65 bad sensor in a tire. Once again they told me the dash light should reset on its own and once again it never did. I should have brought it back again, "a mechanic friend told me they were scamming me", but I really didnt want to deal with them and I figured with brand new tires I didnt have to worry.
Well the two rear tires started leaking air a lot and I ended up having to bring it in again. And again they told me I had a bad sensor light in a tire along with a rim leak and a nail in a tire which I never saw myself even tho I inspected them. So now Im angry cause I know Im being scammed and when I asked the guy what the odds are of 3 sensor lights all going bad at one time, the time I bring the car in for new tires, he didnt have much to say.
I still dont have a working dash light for tire pressure because I refuse to let them scam me for a new tire sensor. The Leaks werent even covered under the warranty because you have to buy a separate warranty for that. They couldnt even tell me which two sensor lights they replaced before because they didnt save that info and didnt put it on my receipt. A trusted mechanic friend told me the entire thing is a scam and that they are making their money on these sensor lights and extra warranties.
Ive had several bad go around with Goodyear thru the years and this will be the last one. Once, at a Goodyear in Lincolnwood IL., I had a slick hustler try and sell me a $700 muffler and exhaust job. I went to some cheap muffler joint and they said all I needed was a $20 peice of pipe. Five years Later I just passed another emissions test. There was nothing wrong with my muffler.
Boy I'd be careful with these Goodyear shops and this one in particular. I'd trust the illegal street tire operation before I trusted one of these places. Good luck.
