Gave a deposit back to homeowners who must not have used out $1250/month rent to pay their mortgage. After asking for us to sign a 6 month lease to have house occupied during the winter, turned around and pulled the rug out from under us with a deed in lieu of foreclosure. We live very rurally and had rented for 2 years, and they basically told us to pack out stuff and get out, then kept all of the deposit.
The rental company also charged ME with paying of the owners items that were left on the property. I had spoken to previous tenents of the same property and their deposit had been kept cause the owner drove out to his property after tenents moved out and got a NAIL in his TIRE, a rental deposit for a home went to new tires for the home owner. Doesn't seem right.
This company needs to be held accountable to unfair practices and it needs to come to an end. Bullying and doing the wrong thing will make them go out of business, and in case they have their claws deeper into the county, I figured it is my duty to warn others.
The money for the deposit should go back to the house or the renters, when the house went to a bank cause people didn't pay their bills, they should not have received a bonus from the one who provided the money for their bills, and Grand Properties only reenforced unethical practices, did nothing to stop it, even when I sent them multiple MN Statutes supporting the deposit issue and spoke to 2 attorneys regarding it.
