I am a former dealer for Graceland Portable Buildings. My signed dealer contract stated I would get 10% commission on each building sold before taxes. No where in the signed dealer agreement did it address chargebacks in any way.
I was unaware that they would pay me my full commision and then take it back if the people did not make 2 payments on the building until months later when I got the first chargeback. These sales were approved by Graceland and the buildings were all delivered to the customers property. Many of my chargebacks were from buildings sold and delivered many months prior to the chargeback. The trucking company was paid to deliver the buildings without being charged back. Several of these people returned their buildings due to the poor craftmanship or setup of the buildings. All of these sales were approved in writing and delviery slips recorded. I do have all of these records. Eventually these chargebacks led to my businesses having to close.
On multiple occassions I told them they could not take my commission as it would starve me to death. After losing my businesses I sent Graceland Properties a demand letter by certified mail requesting my unpaid commission totaling nearly $15,000. I gave them 10 days to respond. Graceland did not even have the integrity to address the situation and respond to me at all. I am very disappointed in the company.
I am warning all potential dealers to stay away from this company and go with someone else as the other companies do not charge back. I made thousands of dollars for this company. They claim to be a Christian company which is why I went with them. I am also a Christian and feel like they robbed me of my rightful pay. I will be happy to provide documentation and additional information to anyone that wants it.
Additionally, as a consumer I would not do business with any company that operates like this one.
